Who though this sleeping and eating shit was a good idea? Like can these creatures just spawn at night so I can do this fucking quest?

I just went from level 10 to level 25 from one Bandersnatch kill before heading to chapter 2. Stayed at the hotel for a 2x XP boost after cashing in.

4x Debased Coins crafted with 99x Fire for Level 16 Expericast. I also ate a meal for a 20% Experience Boost.

You can farm for Rare or Debased Coins for XP bonuses added to your Magic at blue nodes. Save before a blue treasure node and if you don't get a coin, load up the save until you do.

You can definitely break this game's leveling system really easily.

Which meal gives you 20% exp?

Caved and opened my copy.

Very very frustrated with the combat (especially phasing) . I can barely tell what's happening on the screen and never find phasing to be intuitive unless I tell myself "hold square for a while so you can do it". Anyone have tips? Yes I did the tutorial btw.

Also, I don't know if I'm playing the overall game right. I did some monster hunts and I saw nothing else to do except get in the regalia and go to the "errand" quest. Got stopped by a big monster which I was able to beat.but I'm starting to wonder if I am doing it right.

As someone who didn't care for the combat due to the camera never being where I wanted and hordes of bad guys that love to keep you constantly flopping over....switch difficulty to easy and combat to wait mode. I loved it a lot more then.

Exp is seperate for each party member, right? So if you want 20% bonus on each, you probably need it on each member. Or does it specifically say it applies to whole party?

Okay.. Chapter 13 can end any time now.

I don't even really dislike it. This just goes on for way too long lol.
It would have been fine if it was like twenty minutes. The amount of shit you have to
turn on and switch and get access to is just insane padding.

My latest bug was the red bar at the top that appears during an enemy encounter (including THAT sound) would not go away, even after the encounter was over. It persisted through cutscenes (red bar at the top, the sound and all), and even going back to the title screen it was still there LOL. Had to quit, and thankfully the save game didn't save that part of it.

Chapter 13 boss help required:
How the fuck do I do any decent damage to Ravus? I'm only level 35 and am thinking I may be underleveled for this one as he's kicking my ass up and down the hangar.

First off, go and do some sidequests. You're definitely underleveled and you're going to need the experience for Chapter 14 anyway. But even with that, Ravus is frustrating as fuck. It's basically a battle of attrition where you whittle down his HP over a long period of time. There's no way to speed up the process so just get in there and make sure you have a bunch of healing items.

On chapter 13 boss:

Spam techniques and magic, use a greatsword when you can. Bring LOTS of potions for when your bros inevitably die a thousand times.

I am really enjoying the game. I thought the combat in the demo's were really shit but have grown to like it in the full game, even if it can get really messy when you are fighting many enemies.

What I find to be complete and utter trash in the game is some of the side quests, my god are these bad. Have wasted way too much time running around a fucking pond looking for a yellow frog.

You play for treasure, which you get by getting treasure chests (those things that look like cubes of wood) and racking up a score which corresponds to a prize. 99 treasure chests is the max, so if you've surpassed that, you can get the top prize by either quitting or playing until you lose. Beyond that and you're just playing for your high score. I don't think it ends, but I might be wrong.

Has anyone tried the Ultimate Weapons quest from the Lestallum quest giver? I have done around 3 of them so far and they are tough as fuck.

The latest one requires around level 85 while the last one was for level 65. I attempted that at level 67 and it was with 2x level 75 Sir Tonberry, who essentially act like a Yoda that can OHK us. I can't imagine how challenging this level 85 fight will turn out to be.
I've beaten the Tonberry Knights at level 79 or so. They're quite tough but Orichalcum + a lot of parrying makes short work of them as they're weak to both Daggers and Holy element. Helps that I have an Adaman Bangle boosting my HP to 9999 I guess. Ignis and Prompto didn't survive but that's becoming a regular occurrence with the tougher enemies.

I'll do the rest tomorrow.

Side quests are hit and miss. Some of them send you to interesting areas or even dungeons, but some are pure tedium (go here and collect this rock, frog, tag, etc.)

It's like there are three games on this one disc.

Final Fantasy XV: Lucis Adventure
Final Fantasy XV: The Sequel
Dave and Dino's Tag and Gem Adventure

I do have to admit, most sidequests are bit poo. like I am fine with hunts, but not sidequest for a really weird reason... sidequests feel more intrusively endless. Like, you completed one quest, it instantly gives you another and then next one and then next one. With hunts, I see the layout of available ones and pick them, here, there's no real sense when this thread is going to end, as a result it feels more tedious than it should...

Thanks. I'm at 87, so I guess I might as well go the rest of the way lol.

Yeah, that tension is just heart-pumping as I'm on the run, back-tracking back and forth across a map doing groceries for shopkeepers.

It's like the problem in TW3 where the narrative was often divergent from the amount of side-content you could do, just magnified even more.

This has been a "problem", so to speak, present in non-linear videogames for a long time and will exist even more as scale and storytelling gets more realistic. Remember in FF7 you can run around breeding chocobos while a meteor looms around the planet.

For anybody still on the fence about purchasing the game...you can buy officially branded/labeled Cup Noodle and eat it for recovery. Do it.

There's a certain level of lee-way you get with goofy sci-fi and fantasy settings I think. But like you said, as game try to become more grounded and realistic in terms of say story and visuals, that kind of narrative-gameplay incoherence becomes more and more apparent to me.

when fighting multiple enemies try to stay outside and pick one enemy at a time. at-least that's how you do it. also pick up the dodging perks from skill tree early, that way you will be able dodge attacks while your on air.

you should be getting tons of side quests when you reach chapter 2-3, there are marked on the map as question marks.

Just finished the game.

Wow... Dat ending... I was really holding those eye waterfalls. One of the best endings in the franchise, it really got to me...

10 years. Seeing this game to completion was truly a journey.

I'm really grateful to Tabata, Nomura and all the development team who clearly poured their hearts and passion into this project.

But the journey continues! This game is just too good to leave it at that. Now, for the post-game stuff! Let's explore the world from corner to corner.

Was the game perfect? No. It had issues. Lots of them.

Was I disappointed in several areas? Yes. Quite a few.

Was I happily surprised with new things I did not expect? Absolutely!

Was the 10 year wait worth it? Yes. It was. I feel really content. All those years awaiting for information. Hungrily devouring every scrap of information that Square would throw at us during the "dark ages" of the Versus project. Then the re-reveal as the new numbered entry in the series. I followed all. No other game could match my anticipation for this one. And here I am still!

I won't stop playing just yet! Way too much to do and see. But if I had to rate this game, it would be 9.0/10.

Problems with the narrative, wasted characters that seemed very important and interesting, a couple of terrible dungeons,
the lack of a very, VERY important Summon in the franchise during normal gameplay (Bahamut).
Was it the absolutely perfect Final Fantasy game that I imagined in my head? No. Those things are enough to prevent me from giving this game a perfect score.

But as I said before, the positives outweigh the negatives. Incredibly likeable protagonists, an amazing combat system, a beautiful world, a majestic soundtrack, a good sense of humor. It's not really a contest. After feeling absolutely nothing for the casts of XII and XIII, to the point of not caring about their ultimate fates, I had a blast with this game. After being disappointed with XII and XIII, at last I feel I'm playing a numbered Final Fantasy game again.

I chose the same pic

So, is there like a list of sidequests that are worth taking? This is long drives, or long load times, for fetch quest central..

I don't want to cruise through the story, but I can't quite figure out how to play this game without simply dragging things out.

This is...not a good game.

I'm trying...really trying to find any redeeming qualities. I can't.

The combat is still bad. Neither a good action game nor a good strategic game. It took FF XII's battle system and made it far, far worse.

Just got to Chapter 3. I'm going to try to continue but there's nothing really pulling me forward. The story is a bore. The characters are a bore. The combat is a bore. The exploration is a bore. The landscape is a bore. The novelty of the open world has worn off. The seems are coming apart and all that's left is mediocrity.

Basically. I'm really not sure how anyone who has played any other RPG released in the last five years can think this game excels in any regard. I'm a little shocked at how behind the curve it is.

I'm happy for you Ishida. Half cocked story aside, it's a solid game for me.

I just finished it myself and you are stealing the words from my mouth. EXACTLY how i feel, exactly what i would rate it.

That ending was incredible and I felt the wonder I did from past FFs that i was missing during 12 and 13
