Nope, what recipe is that?

I need to make sure I have it.

Spoilers. Recipe and how I obtained it:

Mother and Child Rice Bowl. I got it in Lestallum in the lookout area I was randomly walking around and there is a woman there eating at a table and Ignis memorizes the recipe. Boosts HP by 1000, EXP by 30%, Drop Rate by 50%.

People who are concerned that Dungeons don't allow you to save. You can teleport back to entrance and save there. When you go back in the enemies won't respawn. You will have to make the trip back again but atleast you know the way.

Except for one particular Dungeon, not being able to save inside the dungeon doesn't really matter at all.

this game just hands out levels. i'm lvl 35 and haven't done the first main mission in chapter 3 yet. i've just been doing side quests and monster hunts and have been levelling up like crazy
Yea well, wait until you get to 50 then. You 'll have do much trouble getting above that if you didn't plan your progression earlier by hording xp and getting a 3x boost from resting along with a 2x boost from food.

I don't know what they were thinking with some of these AP requirements. Do they actually expect anyone to fill up the trees? I'm going to hit 99 way before I even get half of these 333 and 999 nodes.

Some enemies respawn in Castlemark. Hell at the last part of that dungeon, enemies respawn while you're in the dungeon.

No fast traveling at night is super annoying.i do a lot of side quests and after every two or three quests I'll have to wait until sunrise again. Don't want to sleep in a hotel, I'm hording EXP..

Damn I really like the combat but it seems nigh impossible to block properly in large groups of enemies without permanently holding down the friggin' square button.

Gotta be smart about it, can't just go rushing into the middle of the group and hope everything turns out well, unless you're a much higher level or stronger to begin with.

Not without wait mode, it's random otherwise which is annoying. However Ignis has a skill where he'll buff you with whatever the enemy is weak too making all your attacks super effective. So this is the easiest way to find out the weaknesss because it doesn't seem to matter if he actually used Libra yet or not. I highly recommend this skill over regroup by the way. The bros are too dumb to stay alive no matter what and having all your attacks being super effective does more damage then they are able to even if they stay alive.

I use Regroup namely for myself, because I don't like needlessly using potions/elixirs. But I guess I'll try it out.

There are some attacks you can't do shit about. The superboss I fought had this laser attack that clears out a good chunk of the fighting arena and is unblockable.

Well yea, it obviously takes a long, long, while to max out everything, hence while you have to be smart about what you put points into. But stuff like grinding with the Beast Whistle, Exploration skills, making sure to kill with warp strikes, etc. make it possible to at least get about 2-3 333 skills, as well as a bunch of other stuff if you're serious about AP. If you're just going through the story and not much else, then yea, you likely won't have nearly as much AP.

I wish I had known that...

For stuff like that, I just use techniques or warp in order to gain i-frames

I don't personally view this game as anywhere near that short, but if I did, it'd still be a fair bit longer than the first few games.
Hmm it's a while since I played them but I don't remember II and III being a fair bit shorter than 20 hours. III can be quite tough. Not that XV is a 20 hour game either mind.

It surprises me that this is only 20 hours long. Is it the shortest mainline FF?

It depends how you play it. Because the game doesn't really keep your levels up with the main story unless you do sidequests, I'd say 30 hours is probably more realistic.

It's worh mentioning that enemies do respawn in all dungeons. It just takes time. Except for Castlemark, where enemies will respawn in a number of locations immediately.

Yea you have to abuse iframes for your teammates and warp for you. Sometimes it's not enough though especially when the boss is putting out constant 9999 damage attacks. :/

Just did the
Crestholm Channels. Damn good dungeon, except for the tiny space with the first boss. Was nice with some level appropriate enemies too, although there could've been more variety.

For two bars using one of gladiolus' skills Dawnhammer is most effective I think. Of course you should play however you enjoy most though. Regroup might be better if it was one bar

I figured out why I was getting whupped so bad in fights.

I was level 28 completing lev 20-24 bounty missions and was having a difficult time because I had over 500 of the tech stuff saved up. I used them and fights are ALOT easier.

I basically boosted everything, but the main ones I think are crucial (as another member mentioned earlier) is ingus regroup and quicker HP regenerate.

Whoa, same thing happened to me.

I got really scared as I was resetting the PS4, because I had just read how someone managed to lose all of their save files, and I was in no mood to start all over myself.

It's pretty easy to forget about AP. I just realised that I've 177AP saved up with level 25 because I forgot about them...

You can fast travel at night after a certain point.

It's as long and as short as you want it to be more so than any other FF. It took me 35 hours, some people on the other hand aren't even halfway through by that point while others might finish it in 20.

I took 40 hours to finish XIII's main story for instance, when I could have done it in much less. In case of XV it's even more flexible due to its open world nature.

They're always on my mind lol, I can't wait to get more skills whenever possible.

Currently have like 473 AP after a major leveling boost, trying to figure out which 333 skill to get...

I did watch it but I must have missed the part where they mentioned his mom I guess.
Episode 5:
Her and young Noctis are heading back home after a day out and they're ambushed by a daemon. It kills his mother and security detail before Regis shows up and drives it off.

That's all I remember about her though, don't think she's addressed much more, if at all.

Chapters from 9 --> 14 were mostly terrible.

The only saving graces were
the bosses malboro, behemoth king and Ifrit so far.

I just want this terrible story to end and get back to hunts and dungeons before The Last Guardian comes out :/

Brotherhood spoilers
The Naga they fight in episode five killed her or something right? I don't remember but I'm pretty sure the only time she's ever mentioned is Brotherhood episode five

That's what I thought at first because of the glimpse we get in the first episode of Brotherhood but if I remember correctly in episode 5,
it is made clear that the woman who was killed protecting Noctis was a servant. She calls him Noctis-sama or something.
I might be wrong but that's how I understood it.

Used about a couple of hundred I think and forgot about it. I'm only on chapter 3 and trying to complete all the quests, bounties, etc before I move on in the story. I'm already level 10 fishing and level 7 on the other skills.

I also underestimated how important it is to camp/cook to fight tough enemies. Started doing that recently.

Just finished Chapter 9 and it actually made me really emotional lol.

I really care for my guys and seeing Noct so sad made me cry lmao. Sucks that Luna was completely fridged though.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.

Chapter 10 and 40 hours in. Trying to get extremely OP for the rest of the game. Saved 50k XP and rested at the 3×EXP Hotel...made the Jump from level 41 to 50...gonna wait until I have 100k XP and then level up

If you care for trophies, there's a trophy for activating 50 skills. You'll unlock this trophy way sooner if you activate less AP consuming skills first. talking from experience!

Do we have any resources for weapon combos yet? I'm trying to figure out all of them but sometimes I do maneuvers by mistake I can't figure out how to replicate.

Same. Would've helped battles go a lot quicker for me as well.

Use Expericasts on boss monsters if you haven't already done so. Today I did it and saved up exp for the first time, went from 43 to 60. My only regret is that I only had the idea to do this before I was able to go to the 3x hotel.

I don't particularly care for trophies, but I do have that trophy already haha

I gotta say, despite the nerf, I really like the shuriken now. Are there any Royal Arms that you guys genuinely enjoy using?

These Niflheim guys turning up in the middle of your fight are starting to get really fucking annoying.
I'm at 43 — As if trying to take out this lvl 54 snake out so I can get an upgrade part isn't bad enough, I keep getting a lvl 74 me h come out of fucking nowhere to decimate me.

The story was focused on Noctis so it makes sense to feel emotional there if you are attached to his character. Luna though.... lol :p

Yeah, that's why the emotion in this game works so well for me, too. The leads are so well written and I can really relate.

Hold attack.
Hold attack + forward left analog
Hold attack + backward left analog
Hold attack + left left analog
Hold attack + right left analog
Hold attack - release - hold

Then the rest is based on proximity ok target I think.
