Also, past chapter 9 question.

Did I fuck up by leaving Altissia so early? I wanted to do story and obviously after 9,
I've moved on from Altissia, but I hardly explored lol.

Hopefully I can come back.

15 hours and I just started chapter 3.

Same, just that it was "only" 13 hours in my case. Part of that is because the game lied to me though. After I did the quest for Dino that was supposed to get me a ship, the game told me that if I'd proceed, I wouldn't be able to return for some time. What it didn't tell me was that it would only be like 5 minutes before I'm back again. So a lot of the stuff I did in Chapter 1 could've easily waited until chapter 2 and even 3. Let that all be a lesson to you guys. Anyway, still having very much fun, though the combat is a bit unpolished, especially in regards to the enemy dropships that like to pop up whenever and wherever.

I think my Better Engine Blade quest is bugged. Cid won't take the horn and he isn't working on another weapon. Perhaps it's too soon? Chapter 6 right now.

you can go back

the game teases you a lot with "are you sure you want to leave" when you can totally go back anywhere like 10 minutes later

You can be back anytime (aside from
Chapter 13
) by going to a rest stop
and calling Umbra, the dog.

The more I think about it, the more I'm annoyed that everything people harp on Dragon Age: Inquisition for they give this game a pass with - 8 billion MMO fetch quests, wide open spaces with nothing in them, no incentive to move the plot forwards, lame villains. At least DAI's story is actually halfway good. Hell I think I like DAI's world better because it's at least more varied than grass, grass, bush, truck stop, grass, grass, water, grass. Emprise du Lion and Emerald Graves ftw.

I like both games quite a bit.

68 hours in. Just going to finish up getting Fishing and Survival to 10 so I can finish the Platinum. The only things I have left to do are the frog lady's griffon quest (drop that item, asshole!), her follow up rainbow frog quest, the blacksmith's quests, the final fishing quest, the secret dungeon, the dungeons below the dungeons, and some hunts. I don't think I'm missing anything by skipping them.

What a wild ride. The story is a bit disjointed and unfulfilling in parts, but I've had a blast the entire time. Defintely my game of the year.

Holy shit chapter 13 is terrible. I thought chapter 9 was bad, but this is way worse. Who on earth thought that this would be fun. And it's so freakin long too. Even the doors take forever to open, and there's a lot of them. Hopefully the game ends on a good note not like this garbage.

Is it okay just to sell treasures? I'm finally getting into the game and damn it's pretty damn good. Got to say the insert of the Kingsglaive scenes were very strange, you'd think they could have communicated what was happening to the city in a better more fitting manner. That said I'm glad I watched it before starting the game.

Question regarding a character in the film and maybe a spoiler for the game
Does Nyx ever get mentioned at all?

So what makes FFXV different than DA:Inquisition other than the combat(which is also somewhat similar if u played a rogue in DA and used that blink strike ability). Everything else even down to the skill selection is very similar to me. I'm really serious and want to know because playing this just gives me such a strong DA:Inquisition vibe that it's scary.

Hey, do let me know if you can get the damn Griffin to drop the item required by the Frog Lady. I tried a lot but had no luck so far =/

The story and world is much better, in my opinion.

Meme answer: Witcher 3 has shit combat and sucks.
Real answer: From what I've seen over at a friends FFXV wins hands down in the dungeon department. Personally I still don't think that excuses how padded the open world feels and the moment to moment stretches with not really anything in there. But mileage will vary.

I've seen mention of some scenes that develop the characters that you only get if you stay certain places? Is there a list of these or if there's a time limit on then?

Are these separate from the tours?

I really don't, I'm not talking about the small differences with story and character design and shop design those are small things that function the same. It really blew my mind it is so similar it also kinda has the party character special abilities DA has. Am I the only one feeling like this? I'm not saying the game is bad but it feels like they copied Bioware extensively.

I'm one of those weird story>gameplay people, so the gameplay wasn't really the issue in DA. I can put up with a lot if I am engaged in the story and characters. I wasn't in DA and I am in this. I just couldn't bring myself to care about the characters in DA, so I guess nothing felt worth the effort, I did like the war table though.

Inquisition has a larger cast, a completely different kind of setting, plays off of pre-existing storylines, has a greater emphasis on secondary characters, lacks cinematic conversations in optional content even worse than FFXV (which at least has the good graces to bother zooming in on NPCs during sidequests), has less impressive dungeons, offers no real minigames to speak of, has a crafting system.

I mean, I see the similarities, but they're pretty different games.

Some people like me genuinely like both games. In answer to your question DAI didn't have 10 years of hype behind it, with people obsessively following every detail of it's development. Don't forget DA reviewed well and won a load of awards, just people on here seem to have decided that reviews were wrong/paid for.

And some people might just prefer the modern aesthetic of FFXV over the Tolkein of Dragon Age

Erm so chapter 13 started amazingly and has overstayed its welcome. Why aint it ending!

Lightning ha redemption

It's a shame because it has some effective atmosphere and some potentially great story beats, but it all feels half-baked and overlong. If it had been refined to the standard of the previous chapters it could have been very good.

I get all that and do see those differences I'm not ignorant to them. But if you take the skin of DA:I and put it over FFXV and vice versa it will be a very similar game in my opinion. This feeling is probably coming from my personal disappointment in the game because after 10 years what I feel is that I got a DA:I the Japanese version. I am glad others are enjoying it I just asked because I was hoping someone will open my eyes to this enjoyment. I played DA:I for over 60 hours and got really burned out on that game and FFXV has gave me that exact feeling in the first hour and DA:I hasn't escaped my mind since the first scorpion I killed.

Cool thanks :)

We are now friends.

Same here. But honestly, I'm loving pretty much everything about XV. I even loved chapter 9 :p

The only niggles I have right now with the story is a lot of stuff happening off screen lol.

W-well...a rose by any other name and all that. 😶

Should have said that love is blind.

I'll have questions for people that played and liked Dragon Age Inquisition (for what it was if anything else). On a phone now.

Did you all feel the combat was tactical and engaging like DAI can be with Nightmare +all combat trials on? Or is it a bit easy? It seems like it's rare to see people stay dead on streams. Dead people limp and aren't dead dead. They spam potions or raise as a limp state character.

Do the AI get in the way a lot?

Do you have control over team composition, and did you miss not being able to control the members directly?

I learned to get used to the action rpg gameplay of DAI after countless hours of multiplayer (was a DA 1 and 2 fighting fan). Maybe not being too responsible for the other members makes it like I'm playing Dragon Age Co-op.

so I'm right near the end, and I know now's prob the best time to do all the side quests, but I just wanna go and beat it/see the ending. could I beat it and still go back and do everything afterwards? y/n?

Wait, you really can only jog or sneak?!

Yep, one of the many strange design decisions in this game. Part of the reason I'm not rushing is because I reckon the next patch will address some of it.
