Yeah he was really difficult. I used up almost all my curatives and I was lvl 50 party.

The entire time I was thinking, please don't let this be the boss, because I had spent like 2 hours in there killing lots of stuff and figuring out what to do. I shouted in excitement after I killed it. Seriously thought I'd rage quit for the day if I died there lol.
Almost the same happened to me. But I got lost for a bit so I did exit the dungeon for a bit.

Wow, this fight against
Leviathan
is pretty lame; I feel like I'm playing the ending of Sonic Adventure to the Skyrim theme.
I loved this fight but this description was lol

Quitcast magic is WAY OP when you can start using it, which is pretty quickly. Annihilated some bosses and harder hunts with just one or two casts.

Magic in general is just broken. If you start a battle with a quadcast, that will usually just kill all the enemies. Way too strong and too much range. I've been avoiding it now because it's way too overpowered.

Yeah I think Dragon Age Inquisition is what I'd compare this too.

Both are still really fun games, but they are both married with annoying issues such as a short story being padded out with mediocre side missions, which make me kind of disappointed despite enjoying them. Like they could have been so much more.

I don't think this happened because he copied them though. I think this is just a typical issue which can stem from making a vast open world. You end up spending so much time making the world, that you end up running out of time making the side quests and making the main campaign.

Haven't finished the game yet but this does reflect my own feelings in respect to both games. FFXV if paced better and with more studiousness would have a story that I'd have loved instead of am only fine with so far, and the way the world is set up seems too...restless sometimes, accompanied with a jarring imbalance between its main quests and side content. It's a shame to an extent, but I'm not too upset 'cause there's a lot of other things I love...and haven't gotten to chap. 13 yet. :p

Still, I could see this game being my personal pleasure of the year, guilty or not. Not the Versus I was wanting, but the Final Fantasy I was waiting for, as it's been said before (and all qualms aside).

Gotta admit... if I didn't have the huge HP boost that the Roen suit DLC gives and multiple strong DLC weapons... I'd prolly be struggling wayyy more with combat. I compared how I am with that extra stuff versus Noctis in regular clothes and weapons... and I got trashed alot. Lol

The whole time in that fight I was like "Bayonetta 2 needs to teach Square a lesson in set-piece fights cause this camera is the actual boss I'm fighting against"

Just got to Chapter 5. Didn't check the clock, but I was over fifteen hours last time I checked (might be near 20 hrs). Played for about 5-6 hours straight today (just breaking for lunch), which I normally don't do.

Game is definitely good despite the overarching narrative being rough. I do know what my next mission is and a bit beyond that and do have an idea about what it's building up to, so it's better than some other Final Fantasy games.

Lots of sub-quests to do (of varying excitement), and I think I've only explored about half the map. Chocobos are fun, as is fishing. Like the pictures/cooking/camping at the end of the day. I miss treasure chests. You pretty much have to do your sub-quests to get a decent amount of gold unless you're selling stuff.

It also seems like weapons/etc and spells aren't as important as other games in the series. Spells are something to throw in once in a while. I am liking the battle system a little more with wait mode, but the camera makes it hard to dodge stuff when you're facing more than a couple enemies at once. I'm hoping it gets better as I get some new stuff unlocked. Chapter 3 dungeon did throw enough at me to drain a good portion of my initial supplies.

They should have added them to your phone somehow. In fact, all quests should have able to be completed via the phone.

Yep, also you should be able to accept more than one hunt at once as well (and set whichever active one you want to do in the menu).

Game just locked me in place, heard someone shout "help me" found him and gave him a potion and when he stood up I must have been too close because I was just stuck in place unable to move. Couldn't bring up any menu except the basic pause one. Had to restart the game. Ugh

Edit: Just lost around an hours worth of play time because of it. That's quite a lot when I have very limited time to play games.

That one dungeon with the water over you... the music is reminding me super hard of Garland in FF9 with those organ melodies

This happened to me a couple of times. I think they eventually moved.

The way I bursted out laughing at the dialog choices in Chapter 9 lmao

(You are about to sign a treaty with the minister, please be polite and behave correctly)

Noctis: so... you and Weskham are lovers or sumthing?

Same, lmao, I was dying at how it was one "good answer" every time and the other two amounted to "be an asshole" lol.

I like Noctis and his group 'cause of the little things they say and how much of it they have to say. It really makes a difference and reminds me of how my friends would poke fun at each other irl lol. The pseudo-realistic setting does wonders too.

I mean, I'm a woman and don't have a boy band group of friends, but I dearly love these boys. Lol. The conversations and care they obviously have for each other makes me really happy, and yeah, how they poke fun at each other too. They just have this great bond.

I can't wait to read your reactions to the ending :D

:D we'll see how long it takes me to get there.

Yep! That's my major grievance. It's my only big issue, but man, what I wouldn't give to have more cutscenes. I feel like a naive fool for saying this, especially since I'm typically the first person telling others to temper expectations in this industry, but... I really hope the DLCs and further patches throw some of that off-screen on-screen.

Yeah. And I mean, some of the off screen things I don't mind (chapter 9
I don't mind Ignis going blind off screen because he was obviously doing his thing and Noct was doing something major and was then knocked out for days
) but others I wish there was more (chapter 6
I do wish I knew what Gladio had gone off to do.
) and there's also some conversations that I feel we're missing (general 1-8 spoilers
Why aren't they discussing much on screen about why the evil empire's chancellor keeps helping them lol. Like, I know why he's doing it, the guys know they're using Ardyn and Ardyn is using them. But it's just so strange that they haven't had major conversations about it.
).

I'm at chapter 9. Finally some cutscenes worth a damn. Jesus.

Words can't express how underwhelming this is compared to
the E3 trailer 2013
, which originally sold me on the game.

So uhhh... where is

, anyway?

Just got the royal axe. When I stepped outside I ran into a lvl34 Coeurl. It pretty much put anyone in danger after 1 shot. I'm lvl15 but I managed to kill it with a poison level 99 venomcast and using Prompto's Piercer to interrupt it whenever it sat down to heal. I played defensively took pot shots and tried to look out for parry prompts. Poison seems so good against enemies that are high level and hard to dent. I really like it in games when I run into an enemy stronger than I and just taking it down through strategy and attrition instead of brute force feels so good. I don't care about the story too much to be honest, I really like side questing and killing things.

You can even cheese the level 52 boss at the Balouve Mines with Venomcast at low levels. Poison, and Magic in general is just damn good here. I got revenge on that stupid Coeurl with Blizzara + Poison.

Why didnt you just press R3 and take me back to my car?

Edit: nvm im stupid

I went to the camping site to the east of Hammerhead that people said would give me a Prompto scene. Nothing happened.

Btw I love the camp music so much.

The battle camera is doing its best effort to ruin what would otherwise be a really good game for me. It's like, I know there 7 enemies around me somewhere but all I see on my monitor is bushes and trees.

The CGI cutscene at the end of chapter 9 makes me angry.

WHY DID IT TAKE SO GODDAMN LONG? This is legit the first time I cared about anything that happened in this paperthin shlog of a game. This is the shit that I came for, that I expected.
Beautiful cutscenes pulling at heartstrings.

Let's see where it goes from here.

One simple question, Is there a recommended experience level for beating the main story?

I'm currently at chapter 5 and while sidequest and hunts were nice at first now they are becoming quite a chore. (Or do you get more interesting stuff to do later?)

Doable with level 40, way too easy with 45+

I live in NYC but I'm currently on vacation visiting my family at home. I want to get FFXV and play it on my brother's ps4 while I'm here. My plan was to sign in to my account and upload my save data to the online storage so that I can transfer it to my ps4 when I get back.

However, we did a test run with other games that we both have to see if I can download my saved data from online storage but we keep getting the error message "application for that saved data is not installed". For example, we both have digital versions of Sleeping Dogs and Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 but for both games I get that error message..even though the games are installed.

I did some online searching and some other people had similar problems and the best answers I could find is that apparently the saves are region locked. My brother has a UK ps4 while mine is American.

If I buy an American disc and play it on his ps4. Theoretically when I go back to download the saved data on my american ps4 then it shouldn't give me the same problem correct? Because it is an American disc so there should be no region locking of the save data.

Unless the region locking is tied to the system and not the game and in that case there's no hope lol

Haha I can't cieth
ravus
being so similar to cieth
cid
from xiii in style!!! FFXIII ha influence! Rejected elements from FNC somehow made their way in ;)

Damn it nearing the end of chap 13 probably and i am emotional! These boys have been the best rpg characters at least in terms of chemistry with eachother in a long long time!

Venom cast? All I have is fire and lightning. What am I missing?

The bottom circle on the crafting screen lets you add an item to your spell. Some items add multiple charges, or poisons the enemy, or makes it so that you cast the spell more than once per charge (Dual-, Tri-, Quad-, Quintcast).

So what makes FFXV different than DA:Inquisition other than the combat(which is also somewhat similar if u played a rogue in DA and used that blink strike ability). Everything else even down to the skill selection is very similar to me. I'm really serious and want to know because playing this just gives me such a strong DA:Inquisition vibe that it's scary.

That it's another game? (Other world, characters, music, art direction, story).
Gameplay has similarities but still feels like it's own thing (weapon system is different, magic system is different, loot system is different, the warping mechanic is unique to FFXV, etc).

Overall design of both is pretty similar though. So if you think DA:I was the worst game ever as most of GAF does I can see you disliking this game too.

Then again, you could just focus more on the main story and ignore much of the sidequests (mabye do some hunts, which are pretty fun, for some extra money and experience). From what I've played (only chapter 3 so far) the main quest and missions feel pretty different in both games
