I keep saying I'm gonna continue the story but keep doing another hunt, help. Level 60 on chapter 8, RIP any story challenge that may have existed.

Thanos acquires the fully powered Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers: Infinity War, but loses when all the superheroes team up together to stop him.
They are all depressed and angry right now, so probably :(
Sweet Prompto trying to cheer everyone up and getting sad when he can't broke me :/

The piano music in Keycatrich Trench is real nice, easily the best in the game so far

probably my favorite part of the game so far overall, far more banter than in the open world

Sooo... um... are chapters going to get longer?

I finally decided to push forward in the main story.

(Chapters 3 and 4 spoilers)

The ice cavern took like 20 minutes, driving to the Disc took like 5-6 mins, the entire Disc/Titan sequence was like 15 mins.

Now I'm in Chapter 5. Tf?

I love the game, but like.... main story is a tad underwhelming thus far.

So how much left to the game once you reach the linear part? Been hearing it's super short once you reach chapter
9

That it's another game? (Other world, characters, music, art direction, story).
Gameplay has similarities but still feels like it's own thing (weapon system is different, magic system is different, loot system is different, the warping mechanic is unique to FFXV, etc).

Overall design of both is pretty similar though. So if you think DA:I was the worst game ever as most of GAF does I can see you disliking this game too.

Then again, you could just focus more on the main story and ignore much of the sidequests (mabye do some hunts, which are pretty fun, for some extra money and experience). From what I've played (only chapter 3 so far) the main quest and missions feel pretty different in both games

I'm on chapter 9 level 31, It really went downhill after chapter 5 imo the earlier sections were a bit better with the openness, now the game is constricting me more and weirdly the ability to save the game is becoming more spread apart as I go deeper into the chapters.

edit: Also I feel the game is way too easy playing on normal and I'm equipping bad weapons and items just to make it more challenging, also gave someone else that advice who was overleveled and still on early chapters

They're short (if you don't do side stuff) and terrible in terms of narrative and story. Seems to change at chapter
nine

It was such a rewarding experience.

I almost thought they lost the rights to the vocal version of the song lol.

Ending spoilers:
I also LOVE how the adapted the vocal version of Somnus to the final boss track (Magna Insomnia).

One of the best final boss themes no doubt.

I liked chapters 6 and 7. 8 was a garbage fire though

2 Questions...

I'm in Chapter 13 and I haven't done any Chocobo Racing nor any monster betting (heard about this in a review). Where do you trigger these or is it post game?

Go to any inn/camp and...
call Umbra, it lets you go back to some previous locations in game, betting is in Altissia, and chocobo racing is on the chocobo farm

And of course there's post-game in which you can also do it.

Chocobo Racing is across the street from the farm. Monster betting is in the arena in Altissia. You have to take a special gondola to get there.

Finished.

Going to spend some time with post-game before and think on it, it's positive but maybe not as positive as it had been going into chapter 13+

The early game is still one of the best gaming experiences I've had in forever.

The ending is good, it's just a shame the lead in was so disjointed.

None of the chapters are very long, the main quest could probably be finished in less than 15 hours without doing any side stuff.

This game is incredibly fun. It has numerous flaws but gameplay ain't one of them. Everytime I pick up the controller I'm excited to fight. It's Dragon's Dogma all over again.

Been cruising around Duscae picking up CDs. Listening to Spira Unplugged on sunset drives is just...sigh. So beautiful. I forgot how good the OST to FFX was.

Still very early on (chapter 3) but I love this world and the main crew. They're easily the most likeable party of all the FFs I've played. I think the fact that each guy is quite a standard archetype on the surface makes them easy to understand and relate to immediately; their dynamics with each other feel very real. Ignis is such a sarcastic prick but I can relate to the guy, trying to keep Noct's life organised out of genuine care for him.

The fact that you have to pay small amounts of Gil for everything, and the day limit on chocobo rental, should feel like a pain but they just make the world feel more grounded to me. I find myself wanting to roleplay somewhat realistically and the game feels well-balanced towards this (so far at least).

I look forward to FF-brand insanity kicking in later, but for now I'm taking my time becoming invested in the open world. I'm so glad it will be there to return to post-game, as I can see myself putting a lot of hours into full exploration without the tension of wanting to know the story beats.

Less than that easily. I would say around 2. The main storyline is really only half the experience though.

Well, yeah, I mean so far I prefer roaming around and doing sidequests. Lestallum is great, Cleigne is pretty beautiful. I mean, I've really liked some parts of the main story thus far (Chapter 4 was extremely strange and short and horribly presented, though), but presentation-wise... it's very lacking. I'm disappointed in this aspect. Chapter 4 was a pretty horrendous "set piece."

Hi folks. I'm thinking of picking this up but have a question. I played the Platinum Demo and had a really tough time with the boss at the end (the iron golem thing or whatever). I couldn't seem to find the trick to him. I know the little minions were simple, but is the final game harder than the boss at the end of the demo? thanks in advance.

End of Chapter 4:
Seriously, no scene with Ardyn after he swoops in to rescue the bros? Am I just supposed to imagine them badgering him with questions and Ardyn ignoring them and dumping them on the side of the road?
lol, I guess this is the beginning of the "missing scenes" people were referring to.

I know everyone is saying chapters are super short and you know what? I'm really starting to agree. I'm on 10 myself and 21 hours in. I did a bunch of sidequests too and companion quests like pictures with Prompto and all that stuff. I love this game, I really do but what is going on with the length here? I feel like I'm gonna finish at 35 hours or something.

Yeah I just experienced it and it was ridiculous. I also found
Ardyn forcing us to rest, us seeing the party interacting with him, but no dialogue what-so-ever.
. Like, lol, wtf?

Not surprising because it's Tabata. In every game he has directed, all the main story stuff is super short. The 3rd Birthday can probably be beaten in, like, 7 hours. Crisis Core, not really sure since it's been a while, but the main story wasn't long at all... probably around 15 or so hours.

And Type-0's main story was a joke. The longest mission was the final one, which was about 50 mins long. The rest of the main missions in the game are literally 20 mins or less. Main story is easily less than 10 hours. Only reason why Type-0 isn't seen as a short game is because of the massive forced grind.
