I'm still on Chapter 1 lol.

Is it just me or do Daggers do some crazy DPS. I found the Blade of Brienne and it has like 5x the attack power of the Avenger Daggers, yet the daggers shred life bars so fast compared to other weapons, I find myself using very little else.

The Down + Atk move is awesome as well for building the combo meter at a safe distance.

I know everyone is saying chapters are super short and you know what? I'm really starting to agree. I'm on 10 myself and 21 hours in. I did a bunch of sidequests too and companion quests like pictures with Prompto and all that stuff. I love this game, I really do but what is going on with the length here? I feel like I'm gonna finish at 35 hours or something.
There's a ton of post-game stuff though aside from the regular quests. I beat the game a little over 35 hours and I'm at around 50 now still kicking. The main storyline isn't that long but I think anywhere between 30-35 seems to be about the average for most people.

35? Think again.

Yeah I just experienced it and it was ridiculous. I also found
Ardyn forcing us to rest, us seeing the party interacting with him, but no dialogue what-so-ever.
. Like, lol, wtf?

Yes!
It was awkward as hell too cuz I had just stayed at a hotel right before that since I was expecting shit to go down. I was like nah I'm good man.

Can't wait for the game to turn linear. I swear a linear game structure is better than an open world one in 9 out of 10 games.

prepare to experience that 1/10th time then :p

Sorry but
at that rate, you'll probably finish at around 27-28 hours. chapters 10-12 are sinfully short.

Ugh this game needs a combo guide. Fighting aerial enemies like the birds sucks because even when I break them I'm not sure how to reliably use the Jump move to stab them as they're going down and by the time I get down to them they already recover. When I do pull it off it's amazing and satisfying but I can't do it reliably. Just gotta figure it out I guess.

Birds and wasps are so annoying to fight though. Birds especially.

I need to stop doing the lower level side quests. Some are good for exploration but I'll burn out at this rate (20hrs in, only at Chapter 3).

I change to guns for birds, and use Prompto's tech.

The targeting sucks for flying enemies, even if you hard lock it untargets them if they fly off screen

Do you not use warp strike or what?

I'm about 5 hrs in, and I'm enjoying it but fuck these massive, boring, empty open worlds. When are devs gonna get it, it doesn't have to be so fucking big, dense is better.

Chapter 9 spoilers:
How do you get to the palace manually in Altissia? I've gone to the location where the map says the gondola is supposed to be but alas.. am I missing something?

Finished the game, on normal, with 30 hours. Did like 45 sidequests, some hunts, have 9 of the kings weapons and i'm gonna do some new endgame stuff.

I'm I the only one disapointed with the game? The AI of our alies is the only dificulty point in the combat system, and the game feels stitched up badly.

Chapter 13 is awful.

Surely Ardyn is the worst character ever. His lines and persona are like a bad fan attempt at creating a Kojima MGS character.

Iris is best fangirl.

This game has those moments during combat that are just truly satisfying. Things you've waiting forever to experience. It's not perfect, but it's damn good. Definitely enjoying the experience thus far. I wish the English va's were better. Some of the line are well written but the acting falls flat.

I genuinely want to know what they were thinking when making chapter 13 and actually putting it in the game. This is just... boring

Hi folks. I'm thinking of picking this up but have a question. I played the Platinum Demo and had a really tough time with the boss at the end (the iron golem thing or whatever). I couldn't seem to find the trick to him. I know the little minions were simple, but is the final game harder than the boss at the end of the demo? thanks in advance.
The key is warping out and landing a long distance warp attack. The actual enemies in the game are easier and you'll level up and be able to take on larger, higher level enemies in no time.

I dunno. I don't feel any cringe when I hear him spout overwrought theatrical dialogue because look at him, he is a faux-Shakespearean theatre geek. It seems deliberate and intentional that he'd speak in ridiculous prose.

So far I really like him. But what people are saying about his early appearances being kind of cryptic and broken are true as well. That's the plotting in general in this game... disjointed.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.

I'm 15 hours in, currently in the middle of Ch. 2. I adore this game. I already know that the there is an
extremely lengthy and linear chapter in a dark drab environment with backtracking and switches
near the end of the game, so I'll be ready for it.

In the meantime, I'm enjoying the open world. This is an open world that actually feels like a real world — you can actually wander out into the wilderness and soak up the solitude without being bombarded by filler quests or monster fodder. It's nice to know I can come back to it, even when the later chapters gets linear.

The storytelling and pacing is great so far, too. I'm even impressed by how they added the scenes from Kingsglaive. The one near the end of Ch. 1 is a great way to show you what was happening back in the Crown City while you were gone. Some nice editing when the general stabs the king and it cuts to black, then shows him standing over the king's body... In the movie they show the killing blow, but here they don't.

BTW, Kingsglaive is a pretty damn good movie, although I had to watch it twice to feel this way. The second time I watched it with subtitles, and the storytelling felt MUCH tighter. Much easier to keep track of the character names, and some lines of dialogue (like whispers) are hard to hear without subtitles.

Back to FFXV: The combat is TOP-NOTCH. Seriously, charging up the war sword and shattering a beast's horn, only to be pinned down by some hyena-like creature, and then 12 magitek troopers drop down from the sky, is hype as hell. The magic is awesome in this game, too. Yes, your allies take splash damage, but not much, and it's SO SATISFYING to just torch a group of enemies with an explosive burst.

I'm loving everything about this game. Favorite NPC is probably Cindy, who I suspect is secretly self-aware of her outfit (certainly everyone else is), wearing it to bring business to Hammerhead. Regardless of ulterior motives, though, her love of cars is genuine (and genuinely funny). She kept rambling about some rare car wax I found for her.

The photos can be freaking hilarious. I don't think I got a single good battle shot and half of them were of the back of Noctis' head. Then there's the weird bug that causes all the contrast and color to be off, I also had another that randomly changed Ignis' gloves blue and then a whole load where the trees are in the sky for no reason.
