Yes. In fact you don't need to be a completionist in order to get the platinum because it doesn't require you to max the hunting rank, complete the sidequests, and complete the crazy postgame dungeons.

Not to mention
Vivienne Westwood wedding dress. I like how the people in Altissia say "let's go check out the Vivienne Westwood store".

The Lestallum gas station takes American Express too. Haha.

They've been ever dwindling since the FFX days. They felt sparse in XIII but even that had more going on.

They weren't sparse at all in XIII. The game had around 22 CG cutscenes, 48 mins' worth. I doubt there's more than 3 in this game (obviously not counting any Kingsglaive or Omen scenes).

I am seriously so sad that this game is devoid of CG cutscenes. The game doesn't look that good to omit them pretty much entirely. I doubt there's more than one mid-game one. Chapter 5 and I haven't seen ANY outside of the opening. Disappointing.

You're not far off the mark there, sadly. There are a couple of good in-game cutscenes in the second half.

I like FFXV a lot ,but I feel like FFXIII had much higher production values across the board.

FFXV has the edge in physics and lighting obviously ,but FFXIII just feels like a much more polished/expensive game.It probably holds up really well on PC.

I didnt expect that.

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.

There aren't much and this is the FF with the least CG cutscenes (minus the 2D games). I think they also want to keep the consistency because you can change outfits from now and then and the CG will always have a set outfit.

I actually really liked all of Chapter 4. Music, all of the characters, the setting. Wish it wasn't over so quickly, though; it could have been twice as long and I wouldn't have minded.

But the opening scene of Chapter 5 was ass. Lazy storytelling that completely relies on the player having enough trope knowledge to infer the story, instead of actually telling it.

Kinda OT, but does anyone know if any of the Monster Hunter artists worked on PS2-era Final Fantasy games? They both have a distinct yet similar art style:

As someone that's NEVER played a final fantasy game, and generally loathes anime, should I try this game?

It does look intriguing to me, though.

The only anime thing in this game is Iris. If you can stand Iris, then you're good to go.

Yes
It's an incredible game and so far (32h in) my biggest complain is that he almost doesn't look a Final Fantasy, and this obviously won't be a problem for you

Were we playing a different game? Chapter 4 was like 30 mins in length. It also honestly felt very cheaply produced.

Some of the voice acting can be a little anime-ish but compared to XIII, there really isn't that much. Noctis has a bit of an anime design but I'd say he is pretty realistic.

Chapter 6 isn't making any sense to me.

Girl all dressed in armor shows up, we absolutely wreck her, she flees the fight, and in the car ride everybody in the group is talking about how strong she was, acting like we lost and she spared us.

And why the fuck are we stopping every 30 seconds. The boring car ride is bad enough as it is. I don't know anybody who needs a rest driving once every half mile.

How long is Cid going to take to upgrade my weapons?

I've played 10+ hours and gained at almost 15 levels since I he started working on them, these things better be god-tier.

Can someone explain the fishing game for me?

When I throw my line, a red bar will appear at the top and some intense instruments will play, but how do I keep This alive and the fishes interested in my bait?

Can't summon or mount my chocobo anymore, despite having him rented. Whistle option is greyed out and after camping the game still won't give me the option to mount him. Anyone had this problem?

Reel for a little bit. Fish are interested in movement.

Did you not do any hunts, or sleep?

I did around 2 hunts, went to a motel for xp and he called me in the morning for the Ultima Blade

Found this review quote:

"FFXV is, without a doubt, the most beautiful Final Fantasy game in existence. If there’s one thing Square Enix knows how to do, it’s create phenomenal cut scenes that appear to be live action rather than CGI. That’s in abundance, and the environments are just as beautiful."

Lies.

Wow, I slept at a random hotel (I'm in chapter 3) and had this amazing
heart to heart conversation with Prompto. He opened up about feeling inferior to the others and it felt natural and real. Noctis saying "I don't make time for any old loser" and Prompto replying "well thanks for making time for this loser" really got to me. It's funny how I thought I'd hate him from every pre-release footage.

Crazy how that seemed completey missable.

It's true actually. I think [ending spoilers]
the wedding post-credits cutscene was a cutscene, not CG. It looked almost like CG.

Okay, maybe I wish the boss fight was double length / had more phases. The rest can stay as-is.

But yeah, for me, it was definitely the high point of the game so far. Maybe the music was just carrying it for me.

I mean, technically the clips from the movie...

Not gonna click on those ending spoilers since I'm only in Chapter 5.

I do realize that, yes, I'm only in Chapter 5, but I knew from the fact that it's Tabata and from the fact that there was pretty much no CG shown in trailer footage that there was gonna be nothing in the game.

I was hoping for at least a few mid-game. Oh well.

The music was definitely phenomenal. This game has my favorite soundtrack in any game ever, by far. Nothing comes even close. I would not mind if Shimomura was the lead composer for every single FF from now on. Funny thing is that I enjoy her work in KH but I don't really care for it at all.

23:30 hours into the game, Chapter 3, still loving it. I was afraid for a moment that starting a new map after clearing the previous one would start to make me tired, but luckly I'm still very much into it.

Ran into a griffon near the first outpost, that thing's HP is huuuuuge. I'll have to go back much later. Can't wait for that fight :p

Fishing is so much fun, I could share some of Noctis' enthusiasm when he finally found someone else who is also into it, haha.

Also did the first two hunts and Sania's quest, which I actually enjoyed. I watched it on a stream before and it looked really frustrating, but the sounds guide you pretty well, and I did it in no time. Much better than having a detective move/listen mode/witcher sense kind of stuff to tell you exactly where they are.

The flowers near the radio were a really nice touch on Chapter 2, btw. Hoping Sania will be back on the show later, to see what she found out through the red frogs, and how it connects to the Starscourge.

The key is warping out and landing a long distance warp attack. The actual enemies in the game are easier and you'll level up and be able to take on larger, higher level enemies in no time.

thanks, i just got home with a copy, but thanks anyway for answering. i figure, hell it can't be as hard as bloodborne. unfortunately i have walmart and gamestop to choose from in my town. gamestop was closed and walmart was sold out. so digital it is. ps4 is in rest mode (high speed download mode). looking forward to getting into it soon. wish me luck folks. i have never really played a ff game before. i have VII on my ps4 but started it and got distracted by mafia III (say what you will, but i dig that game, it scratches my collectathon itch). well here's to my first real ff experience. please feel free to recommend any others i should play (platform not a problem unless it's pc). and i plan on finishing 7 i promise.

I slept probably close to 20 times since, but I basically stopped the hunts because they're not particularly fun or interesting. Perhaps it unlocks based on how many hunts I've done.

Quick question, why van I sometimes quick travel to my quest and sometimes I can't?

It sometimes seems to be based on if you've been to the place before, but it's really random.

e.g. You can't fast travel to Lestallum / Lestallum quests, but you can manually select one of the parking lots in Lestallum and fast travel to that.
