Can we just talk about how awful the X button is 90% of the time in NPC, field, and chocobo situations.

You're using it wrong.
See my earlier post in this thread.

So nobody seems to have figured this out yet, or at least I haven't seen it:

If you're having trouble with "X" being the "Interact" button, you can actually halfway treat the game like it's using the Japanese "O/X" swap.
Whenever you see that little diamond on the screen that denotes an Interaction Point, you can let go of the Analog Stick and hold "O" and Noct will automatically walk into range of that point, ignoring any others in the area.
Then, while still holding "O," hit "X" to "confirm" once you see the prompt.

You'll never randomly jump again, and it's actually super smooth and reliable once you get used to it.
This is even superior to the Japanese version, since it's got a sort of "two-step" confirmation to the action, whereas the JP version would have you instantly interact with the object/person the moment you were in range.

Similarly, you can hold "X" to dismount a Chocobo before it actually comes to a complete stop.
People keep complaining it takes forever to get off them, but you can have Noct hop off while they're still at a decent trot.

Just experiment before whining.

Alright, I have to repeat a question from earlier: At some point during the last story chapters I got access to a shop that sold the best weapons I've seen so far for I think 10K a piece, I'm not sure anymore. Does anyone know where that was and how I can access it in Post-game?

Earlier, someone said Altissia, but the shop doesn't hold the weapons I was talking about. Someone else said some name from the in-between chapters during the second half and I'm pretty sure I can't get back there? But there has to be some way to buy those weapons in post-game, right?

Yea fuck this, Castlemark Sealed was not playtested. This is supremely bullshit of the highest order. Did anyone beat this shit on their Q&A team?

This feels impossible on Normal.

It's not impossible. It's high level content meant to test your skills.

Also.... *QA Team

Meldacio HQ has a bunch of 10k weapons

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
Did you have the food buff that gives 100% crit? I did it in 45 min, hitting for 6k a hit

No.

I just went all powered up by eating the
Jabberwock steak
. I think I did the wrong approach, hence it took me 2 hours.

Man, this game's summoning system...

Titan
has been asleep at the wheel since I encountered the worthless piece of shit.

Meanwhile,
Ramuh
ended up chucking its weapon across the entire goddamn region just for the assist.

Titan
usually appears when everyone is incapacitated.

Anyone else on xb1 able to switch apps with this game?
I can't even go into "my games and apps" without the game just straight up closing.

This is unlike any other game I've played so far that just stays suspended in the background.

I think this is a good reason for why players shouldn't go into the last few chapters extremely overpowered.

I mean I thought that fight was great, but I think I was like 15 levels ahead of the recommended and I reckon it would have been a lot more epic had I not been.

Just a note for those out there doing a lot of side quests before the end game to keep in mind.

What's the recommended level for the final battle? I don't want to be too overpowered.

Hello!? Strange engine, unstable stabilizer, and warped wings!!? Cidney what else!? I'm losing it!? It took me two hours to find those headlights where's my flying car

I'm currently Level 38 and in Chapter 3. So, basically I fucked up my late-game experience because I like to sidequest as much as possible?

Wow framerate in Altissa was asssss so much choppiness wtf I had to rebuild my ps4's database to fix this issue. Seems fine now.

Also wtf was up with the chapter 9 boss lol ..I mean it was very cool looking but ...ehh felt too long and zero challenge like lol who designed this boss.

And luna.....shame the character is so underused / unexplored so far.

I think the hate the story is getting is obstructing how terrible the rest of the game is.

Let's go through this example.
Lower floors of (dungeon name spoiler, and dungeon gameplay spoilers throughout)
Costlemark Tower.
The name of the game is interacting with extremely slow moving walls and floors. There's no puzzle here, just waiting, waiting, waiting for the floors to move in the blandest environment. It's so dull, but this is what passes for interaction in FFXV. I hit the bottom floor, fight a red giant. Tough enemy, but I beat it. Long elevator ride up to the top. So slow - why?

Next set of floors... takes me to the same place. Now two red giants spawn. It's hard because they both spam gravity wave and you can't get out of it without easily because the run button and attack button are the same (why) and it's impossible to know if you're hardlocked while the camera is spinning around during that attack (and if you're hardlocked you won't warp out of the attack, but into the attacker), but in the end it's doable. Okay, beat them. Once more onto the ridiculously slow elevator.

Same thing again. Moving floors, walls, dull and tedious, been in here two hours, want to get out. Desperately want to save, but you can't in a dungeon (why) so return to the entrance before doing this next set. Okay, I actually can't leave because it's daytime and the door is shut (why). (Or I can using a tile but I won't get back in and it's morning so I'd have to wait forever because there's no wait feature in the open world - why.) Terrible, terrible game design all around, but fuck it, I'll just return to the bottom and beat this thing and then save. More sliding walls. Brings me back to the same place, and now three red giants and a naga (and 20 flans and some goblins - total clusterfuck).

At this stage the battle system and camera, which had struggled all dungeon long, break down entirely. It's impossible to see what's what, who's where etc. Camera is spinning around wildly with any attempt to lock on. Red polygons and effects fill the screen, no sign of Noct in all this chaos. The amount of effects starts to cause bugs, and Prompto and Gladio disappear, though their weapons remain. The naga spams toad and petrify, and you can't see anything so you can't avoid it. The red giants spam gravity so you can't escape and give yourself some room to see. There is quite simply nothing to do in this bullshit but hope a summon shows up.

The summon doesn't show up.

Because you don't control summons I'm just praying to the RNG at this stage. That's what the game has boiled down to. Surviving bugs and the camera issues by spamming endless healing items and praying RNJesus bails me out. (And I had just used a summon - that might have affected said RNG.)

Unfortunately, I have 20+ megaphoenixes and 20+ megalixers. So while I can't see what's happening nor have any control over the situation, I CAN stay alive. And I do so... for what I reckon was 40 minutes. I even kill one of the giants. But eventually my items run out, I die, and lose three hours of progress to the camera, visual bugs and a battle encounter that was blatantly never playtested in the slightest.

And this is a dungeon - the GOOD part of the game! Nah, this shit is the worst. Fuck this game.

EDIT: I was upset enough at this that I saved the video. This will be FFXV's legacy for me in video form.

Question about the flying car.

Basically I already did the third imperial base (and did the two bases as part of the story) before I realised that doing it is how you upgrade the Car. I think I must have gotten the part anyway. However I never got the side quest to upgrade the car. Is it just because I'm too early in the game? I'm on Chapter 8 but massively over-levelled due to having done most of the side quests.

I did all 3 bases. Nothing happened..I'm Legit lost

Lol, guess I'm not the only one with the problem. That said I'm not in post-game so maybe that solves my question.

Hunting and exploring is amazing in this game. Great sense of scale. Chocobos are awesome even though they handle the same why as leapers from Jak 3.

The thing that sucks is not being able to do more than one bounty at a time. It is such a drag to go all the way back after each one and then go back out.

I just fought that crazy snake at
the waterfall
in chapter 3. What a epic beast.

Also fought
deadeye
in chapter 3 and loved it.

That brings up another thing. this game needs a bestiary asap. Like damn. I have put 14 hours in already but I am starting to notice some things that could of been done better. After doing a shit ton of sidequest, I am going to power through the next 3 chapters before grinding out sidequest again.

I really want to plat this

Allow me to explain for people who haven't done the Castlemark Sealed Dungeon. Castlemark Sealed Dungeon is unlike other Sealed Dungeons in that you're not allowed to bring items inside so you have to rely on Healcast to heal yourself and camps and whatnot. Now generally that's fine, it's a challenge but it's largely feasible. The problem arises with the Iron Giants. Now the Iron Giants (at lvl 90) are like your usual Iron Giants with the same basic attack structures. It's when there are 4 of them at once that shit gets fucked. It's not so much the raw numbers but rather the Iron Giants have that gravity spell that draws you in to one area. Do you see where the problem is starting to pop up?

So you might be fighting one Iron Giant and another will cast the gravity trap spell thus dragging your teammates and you into an area where they can swing those giant swords with a huge AOE. It's largely unblockable although you can kinda avoid it if you hit them at a certain time. You can somewhat try and get away via warping if you're far enough from the Giant but your teammates are fucked. Normally you would cast regroup with Ignis and get out of there but when it's near constantly done by the Giants....

Now you can use Blizzaga to slow them down which is what I've been doing but you can't cast spells quickly back to back. That means for a time you're virtually helpless as your teammates are dragged in and killed. The Iron Giants are very hard to stun even when solo and it's hard to get iframes on them due to a narrow blindside. Your best shot at downing one of the Giants is using the Arminger but that takes a sizable number of hits. Something that's hard to do on an enemy that generally has few blockable or counter-able moves.

It straight up feels like you have to max out your AP tree and do the Break Limit nodes (which are 999 AP) to stand a chance. My only guess is that you have to slam them hard with maxed out magic spells. You're also screwing over your teammates when you cast the spells but I suppose it's better than being hit by four huge swords at once. So this absolutely feels like people didn't playtest this on Normal. There are a few other areas in the game where I have a similar feeling but this is pure bullshit.

The platinum is easy actually save for having to walk worth 20-30 hours to max Gladio's Survivalist, maybe as easy as Type-0 and much much much easier than FFXIII's (because it's incredibly grindy).

Oh look, someone else who just ran into the exact same issue I just had... in a different area. And you reached the exact same conclusion I did as well - that large parts of this game were simply not playtested.

SNIP I'm pretty sure I saved right. Should I beat it again?

I'd consider this a spoiler. I'd tag it.

I'm at Chapter 5 and at the
Trial of Ramuh cave
. They say it's all dark, but when I enter a white blinding light is everywhere and I can't continue onward (the prompt to squeeze through a crack is nowhere to be seen.

WTF is this?
5r3VXMQ.jpg

Is my game glitched? I'm playing on a standard 1080p set and this is downright odd? Is this meant to happen or am I missing a key item?
