How much better is the final product than the Platinum Demo? I thought the Platinum Demo was pretty rough, but the stream I'm watching makes the game seem interesting.

The Platinum demo is not at all representative of the actual game. Play the Judgment Disk demo (only on Japanese PSN) for a more accurate, and much better, picture.

For those who have played the game, how is the combat compared to the two demos? Better and more fleshed out?

I love FF but I found the combat in the demos, hold A/X for awesome to be rather boring and no magic was awful too.

I am excited by the world and characters but concerned about the combat. For context, I think FFXIII has the best combat system in a JRPG, so fast, fluid and flexible. ATB perfection.

I just finished brotherhood and kingslaive. I thought bother were pretty good for what they were. I feel I am more hyped for the game and a lot more knowlegable about the world! (I was on blackout). I cannot wait to be able to play!

Just finished Kingsglaive and found it to be pretty damn awesome.

The downside is now I'm super hyped and have to make it through work somehow tomorrow.

I guess I'll pick this up tomorrow, I had a little bit of interest, but with the reviews I read it seems like a good game.

Even though I have absolutely no time to play any new games anymore...

Nearly two hours in and this game is giving me similar vibes to Xenoblade Chronicles X. It feels aimless and there is absolutely no urgency in the plot. Xenoblade Chronicles X was a game I just stopped playing 20 hours in because the story went nowhere and I got bored. At this point in time, I see there being a 50% chance that the same thing happens with Final Fantasy XV.

Final Fantasy XIII had more urgency in its plot than Final Fantasy XV, and that was a game I had to force myself to beat.

While you seem to only be able to hold one magic bomb flask at a time, its powerful as hell. Has an aoe constant effect on terrain too (thunder ravaged ground will zap anyone that steps on it, friend or foe). Loud and visually impactful too.

While I was down on the combat (I miss early atb systems) it works well now. Can get button mashy, but it doesn't feel too simplistic in that you have to switch weapons for weaknesses, mix in warp attacks to break enemy weak points effectively, hold block at the right time to counter, and position for link attacks or blindsides (back attack).

Honestly I think I preferred Duscae's combat with weapon switching automatically and being able to pick techniques over what the final game does. Maybe once I get a better feel for combat that opinion will change.

You can get accesory that auto switches weapons during combat. Not quite the same it was in that first demo though.

The opening is fucking weird. Like here's this open that takes ten seconds then some king then you're pushing a car and now exp and now camps and like wait what and then you set up a Coleman branded tent while giggling with your dude friends and making toast while talking with decision trees. WHAT?

Have you gotten to the point where "diplomacy has failed" early on? It's more of a FFVI-VIII type affair where you are essentially undercover / incognito in the beginning.

also, regarding combat.. you can target and break off specific parts of many of the mobs you're fighting.. so don't assume that just because it locks on to one thing that it is the best target. Many enemies have several targetable parts.

Did the Xbox version download the patch with the preload or will it only start downloading the patch in 10 minutes?

Just finished Kingsglaive. Enjoyed it but not sure I would call it good. Climatic fight somewhat difficult to follow. Looked very nice at points.

Everything with Libtertus was hilarious. Particularly
Luna's reason for separating from him. "Can't travel with such a hero like you". lol

Word hero is used too often. Regis scenes are probably the best.

Liked the brotherhood episodes a lot.

Excited to put in a bit of time with the game tonight.

Can someone tell me if I should be freaking out if Amazon says the game is for sure being delivered on the 29th but it hasn't been shipped yet (but they charged me)????

Second playthrough tomorrow! I'll be joining y'all. Once piece of advice have some tissue for the ending nearby.

Seriously

If the ending is actually emotional like that I can forgive an uneven story, 13's ending was just... it did nothing for me. If I feel something at the end of this, I'm good.

Hmm, I've got 15g downloaded. Wonder how much I'll actually get to play. Kinda tired though so I guess going to sleep and waking up early would be ok n
