It sounds good. Although, I'm not sure how much I'll like using the shoulder buttons for attack and defend. I'll see.
Type B is a nice middle ground between A and C.
I personally thought C was a little better than B because it allows you to do attack and defend simultaneously, while also allowing you to rotate the camera. B does not allow camera conteol when you are attacking, because your thumb is occupied with holding the square button.

Type A sucks, though, and I can't believe they made it the default control scheme.

Edit:

I had the same feeling when considering type C, but in the end it works really well for me.
I prefer having the attack button on the face buttons and I found myself going to Triangle for the item menu even before I changed to Type B since that just feels natural to me. Type B + Wait Mode brought the battle system up significant amount for me. Never had too much of an issue with not being able to control the camera at the same time as attacking.

It's been over two years since I bought a physical copy of a game and even longer since I bought a special edition. But this deluxe steelbook is pretty nice indeed:

1. Can you ride the
cable car?
2. Where is the FFIX and FFX OST?
3. When i attack something what does Purple numbers mean?

This game is siiiiickkk, just got to altessia
1. Dunno, doubt that (still in chapter 8).
2. FFX is in Chocobo farm, don't remember IX.
3. Your attacks are weak with this weapon, you should switch it.

I honestly didn't think Chapter 13 was that bad. I'd heard the complaints from GAF about how it was their worst experience in gaming, but apart from being too long I didn't think it was that much of a problem. Catching a Chocobo for the first time in 7 was way more of an infuriating experience for me, personally.

I meant to say that they did a horrible job of integrating the lines well into a quest, and instead they did an uninspired commercial recording that stood out like a sore thumb.

Yeah, that's what it sounded like.

When Gladio started talking about getting the right ingredients I though Noctis was gonna go all:

The problem with Chapter 13 is that it's too long, but I got a few ideas to make it better and less frustrating. Share with me your thoughts if you think of something better.

1. The structure : Cut the part
from where you have to open doors with cards. Make an elevator to go directly to the laboratory from the starts, after at least 1 or 2 corridors of stealth.
2. The stealth :
Make it so that you see the enemy patrolling as a red dot on the mini map ALL the time. If you could see the enemy on the mini-map, you could learn his patrol pattern and find ways to bypass him, just like in MGS1.
3. The story :
Make the story of the origin of daemons and magiteck be told by audio books that plays while you progress, and make them evident to pick up, since they are essential to the story. If you can play music via an MP3 player, you can surely do that, no?
4. The gameplay :
I find the warp to another dimension power very OP, and was relying on using it more than death or holy. Make those last 2 equally powerful if you want the player to experiment. Also, make it so the player could find some weapons along the way and let him equip it as he progress. If Noctis can't invoke weapon, I'm sure he can still hold a sword in his hand without invoking it, you know, like sword fighting normally without any phasing powers.
Tldr: Make the character retrieve his power progressively.

OK, that makes more sense. On my PS4 PAL UK copy the game is on the left side of the case, underneath all the leaflets, and Kingsglaive/the Kingsglaive background is on the right hand side of the case.

Also, I just realised after 14 and a half hours that the jacketless version of the DLC formal suit gives unlimited stamina.

How the fuck do I (post-game spoiler)
land in front of Pitioss? The one time I managed to get down to ground level I crashed into a rock and died.

sorry guys. I don't never want to relieve that pain again. Thought GAF was being man babies, but shiiiit. Also to make it clear the mission was not difficulty, just bad.

Ya, nobody ever complains about it being difficult, which is why it's so strange the devs' proposed "solution" is to buff the ring...?

People mention the noodle thing but the Vivienne Westwood reference was even more bizarre.

Someone mentioned in another thread that she's apparently really big over in Japan which explain why there is a reference in the game. Not really a spoiler I think but
VW is also going to make a real version of Luna's wedding dress.

XI gets 5(!) CDs and XIV gets 2, but only the first of the XIII trilogy gets one...

If there was one thing XIII never lost quality on straight through Lightning Returns, it was the soundtracks.

I wish I'd done more side-quests before finishing the story. Something about knowing the ending makes me feel less eager to do so. Maybe it'll pass.

Any news when the performance patch for the pro is coming? All I've been able to find is December. Also, any general tips before starting the game? I'm seeing a lot of folks talking about remapping the controls, for example.

Is there anywhere I can buy the pre-order bonuses separately? I would love to have the royal outfit and the Leviathan skin for the Regalia.

Are there any missables? I'm like 15 hours in and still in Chapter 1 because I've been trying to run to every corner of the map instead of advancing the story, but I probably should advance the story.

I feel like what you describe was actually the original plan.

Luna's CGI death scene has no real weight to its imagery since all you've ever seen or heard of these super important flowers is one in a book from 12 years ago and a throwaway line that Noctis and Luna picked them as kids.
Then there's the Tenebrae scene
in the field of flowers with Luna and Ravus where Ravus has his artificial arm but that makes very little sense chronologically with the story.

I feel like Luna was intended to travel with the party to Tenebrae, or at least she was meant to survive that long, and the death scene was actually supposed to take place in that flower field.

I would 100% agree with you, but in truth that scene hit me like a truck of bricks.
I don't know, i found it visually very beautiful and touching.

Everything else though i agree, that's what was supposed to be, they wont be able to rewrite that, but at least add more context.

Hello GAF, I figured I'd ask here but I'm interested in getting FFXV but I haven't found many of the reviews to be helpful. First, I have no nostalgia for the FF series, I've literally never played one before (never liked the turn based combat). So, none of that love is going to resonate with me as it might with say MGS. Second, I place a lot of emphasis on story when it comes to my games, especially RPGs. I don't need the most original story ever, I just need a good plot that makes sense, good characters, decent writing, and at least halfway decent voice acting. I don't care how great the gameplay is if a story doesn't grab me, especially in an RPG, I'm probably going to dislike it. Which is why I currently cannot force myself to play Dishonored 2 at the moment, terrible story and terrible writing.

Thus, with all that said do you think FFXV would be a good buy for me? To help out further here are some of my favorite RPGs: Mass Effect, Dragon Age (ALL of them), Fallout: New Vegas, Alpha Protocol, The Witcher series, Deus Ex (both original and new entries).

What say you GAF?

You'll hate FFXV. I say that as someone that really likes it. But the storytelling is the worst part of the game.
