Costlemark at level 50. Phew.

Didn't even get the dumb emerald stone I went there for lol. 2 hours and no save point... Fortunately the game let's you use a phoenix down when everyone is dead.

Best dungeon in the game by far, amazing how much better the side content is then the actual game. This dungeon destroys chapter 13 in every way possible.

Over 80k experience lol, might be ready for the big boss now (;

Ugh still unsure if I should press on in the game during winter break or if I should wait for these patches. I mean I'm only at the very start of Chapter 5.

Waiting for the patches means I'll eventually get at least a slightly better camera, the DLC scenarios, the new cutscenes (hope they're substantial IDC if I have to download like 6+ GB), the fixes to Ch 13, etc.

I also don't care about not being able to control anyone else but, I mean, that's a nice addition.

I really feel like by the end of next year or in 2018 they'll release a "FFXV: Complete Edition." Sigh

Wow, Elder coeurls are fucking assholes.

I'm 10 levels higher than them, but it's no use.

I'll come back to them after grinding to level 90 at least.

Sure it's been asked, but there is no way to set up your own control scheme right?

And if not is type C pretty good? Really like the phase button being on L2.

Fuck that place. I almost threw my controller. Although, after reading online, apparently I'm one of those people who didn't understand how that place worked and got royally punished. I blew half my mats in that hellhole.

Man... Noctis' theme is so good. Love the music in this game.

Feel kinda sad every time I boot up the main menu
post game now.

...i just.
The story seems like such a mashup of nonsense.
Im at chp 12.
Im hoping some big thing will come along that makes it all make sense or be worth it.
Dont get me wrong i love the gameplay and just doing hunts and i want to see endgame dungeons but the main plot so far is just doing fuck all for me.

Can someone tell me how close I am to beating it please?

chapter 13. Power keeps going off and I'm turning it back on while going up still. Already got the sword of the father.

Trying to decide if I want to stay up to beat it or go to bed. If I'm really close to the end I might just finish

Haha I took
5 cubes before it occurred to me to check the map and go where I hadn't been yet, I didn't realize there were different paths, everything else it was great though, challenging fights, etc. I had to do the 3 giants and Naga from screwing up and it took everything I had spell wise to even manage surviving. Thankfully end boss was easier than the rest of the place.
. It's difficult and confusing, but reminds me of the good old JRPG days of suffering through dungeons and enemies encounters until you solved seemingly obscure puzzles, but they click when you figure it out.

But besides that I loved the aesthetic and everything else that came with the dungeon compared to the majority of what's in the game.

3 - 4 hours at the most if you beeline it.

Alot of people seem to love the ending despite the mess of a story(I'm not one of them)

As far as story goes, it doesn't really get any better imo.

Gameplay and dungeons are what makes this game good for me.

Oh if that's the case, I'm going to go on to bed lol. I thought I was like an hour away at most. I'd rather save it for tomorrow so I won't be tired.

OMG wtf, I told my ps4 to go into rest mode just now and it did an update instead and restarted the ps4.. No idea when I last saved it. Definitely going to bed now.. 😢😡😒

Maybe it kept my place since it's in rest mode now. Better have.. :(
Edit: nope. Didn't keep my place. Fuck.

Just beat the game at 80 hours and at lvl 80. I really enjoyed the game overall, but I can see the problems people have with the story. Chapter 13 was odd, but I could see what they were trying to do with it,
they should've made the stealth way better because I just kept walking through and dodging with Holy.
As for the finale of the game
I thought it was cool, and it gave me a matrix 3 vibe. I was kind of expecting Ardyn to turn into a big final form god looking thing like in other FFs though. I was having some feels when they bring up the photos to choose from too. The FFXV logo at the end was great too.

Just started this today. The game is absolutely gorgeous and the soundtrack options in the car are probably my favourite part so far.

Depending on how badly you were punished, I contend that it wasn't challenging or difficult. It became just downright sadistic with the enemy combos they threw at you. I see on my contracts that I'm supposed to head back to that place. I'm not stepping one foot into that damned area until I'm lvl 99 and can god stomp it. It's going to be so therapeutic.

I'm not really hating Chapter 13 as much as I expected considering the things people have said about it. I guess my only thing is the Chapter runs a bit long (which is funny because I was complaining earlier about how short the previous chapters were). Doesn't help that
there isn't much variety in the environment considering how long it is. And I hate how you can't run the entire dungeon - what's up with that? It's annoying.

I wasn't planning to get this anytime soon, but it's very tempting with Best Buy's B2G1 sale... What is the consensus on which is the best version (performance wise) between PS4 and XB1?

I also wonder when specifically they plan to "fix" that questionable chapter. I was talking to a buddy of mine and he said up until reaching that specific segment, it (FFXV) was a must buy. After having to trudge through it, he said to wait for a price drop. That chapter must be awful for him to say that (he's an avid FF fan).
It's a 3-4 hours chapter in a +40 hours game. And some parts of 13 are actually good, the only problem (IMO), is that the chapter it's too long

And the patch for this chapter will be released only next year, and isn't gonna fix the problem

I'm not even sure what they could patch except
letting Noctis be able to run and maybe making the ring kill faster or something.

I'm on Chapter 14, and the story seems really really simple and straightforward. Not sure what people are getting hung up on (outside of Ardyn's motivations, which are explained later).

I just got the ultima blade :D

It's so powerful, I don't think there is any need for most king's arms. Unless there is a way to upgrade them.

I'm at chapter 6 right now, level 33 and about 22ish hours in. Does anybody here actually use the Royal Arms regularly? I find the health drain outweighs the increased damage most of the time. I usually just have a couple equipped for the stat boost and use the other 2 slots for normal weapons that I actually use.

I mix them in with my normal weapons, usually to end a combo for some added damage. One of the things the game does really well is let you switch weapons fluidly so it's great to take advantage of that. I also use then during armitages as you seem to be invincible, as in you can't go into danger by running your HP too low during it.

I'm not sure how the stats on equipped weapons work, it seems permanent, but the Royal arms have at better extra stats so i usually keep two equipped almost as accessories.

Castlemark Tower is BS. 3 fire sword monsters, and then a Naga appears. Lost almost 2 hours of progress.

I'm level 47. Where are some good high level quests?

Just survived that same experience at level 50, loved the whole dungeon, only thing that resembles any difficulty in the game. It's easy to be frustrated, but the fight was manageable if you played it right.

Wow, you guys were not lying about chapter 13. Holy shit this is bad.

The first part is so incredibly tedious.
Are the axe guys supposed to lose their weapons after a dodge attack, preventing you from dealing damage to then unless you use the painfully slow drain move?

Luckily I'm into the second bit, which is still bad, but not as incredibly terrible.

I mean, did anyone on the dev team actually play this chapter? Jesus.

As painful as it is I think I've decided to wait it out for at least a couple of months until I continue playing XV. If the patch notes end up being substantial I might wait even longer.

Maybe that's a good thing, considering that my backlog is:
KH2.5
Star Ocean 4
Resonance of Fate
Devil May Cry 3
Red Dead Redemption
Ar Tonelico II
Suikoden
Xenogears
Valkyrie Profile Lenneth
Final Fantasy
FFX/X-2 Remaster
Odin Sphere Leifthrasir
Dark Cloud
Witcher 2

HOO boy perhaps this patch announcement was just a good thing all-around

It does seem like the added stats from weapons are permanent as when I unequip one of the Royal Arms with high added strength, the damage for all my other weapons drop as well. So like you I keep the 2 with the best stats equipped just to boost damage on other weapons, HP, defence etc.

As a side note, I really wish it was easier to target enemies with magic without hitting my teammates. I really like the graphical effects of magic and they seem pretty powerful but they become very situational because of the AOE shit. I wish I could use them more regularly. I guess the trade off of risking damaging your buddies is why they were made so powerful but still, I wish magic was something you could rely on more and build your character around.

Finished the
dungeon
in Chapter 7 saved, came back and the latest save is a full hour or so prior.
Great.

edit: caught up, saved again, double checked.

How are shields supposed to work?

Also, how do summons work? The prompt for Ramuh seems completely random, and it's just a one hit kill move for the most part.

For all the shit I give to this game about being a mess for its story and feeling totally incomplete, it still has a shit ton of content. I'm about 55 hours in at level 60 and maybe 2-3 hours away from Platinum but I haven't even touched the sealed dungeons, gotten all the legendary weapons, and touched the high level hunts (70+). If you like the game, at least there is A TON to do. I'm still discovering new areas that are blowing me away. Vesperpool is my new haven with a camp, elements, fishing spots, and some beautiful scenery.
