I feel like I missed an entire portion of the game already. Everything that's happening feels like it wasn't explained at all

i heard you have to watch the movie and anime brotherhood to get background info.
I really don't like the English voice for Ignis so Japanese is great for me. Not a fan of the southern accents for some like Cidney either. Try it out though as your mileage may vary.

It's too bad you kinda have to watch Kingsglaive to know what's actually going on. Personally, I say stop caring about story and focus on the gameplay.

I'm only in chapter 6 but this is my biggest issue with the game. The story is so horribly told. It sucks because I'm intrigued with the world and characters but so far this is the worst told final fantasy story of all time.

The combat is great but I play FF games for their story so if it doesn't come together eventually that's going to be really disappointing
I'm still very early though so hopefully things become clearer down the road

done. My friend actually came over to help me finish it. This is the second time I've had to ask a friend to complete a part of a game since RC copter in Vice City and that isn't even half as annoying as this piece of garbage chapter. How did this not get cut? Who enjoys this shit? I hope whatever's left of the game isn't as annoying.

Does FFXV have a japanese track for the US release, or is that not out yet?
After about 8 hours in, my thoughts so far:
Pros:
Game runs well
Graphics are pretty good
Music is decent with a few phenomenal tracks
Voice acting is good
Cons:
The way the story is told is a disjointed fucking mess
Also, the story is completely uncompelling so far
Sidequests are pretty badly written
Writing is pretty bad
Battle system isn't great... definitely NOT what I want out of a Final Fantasy, but even outside that criteria... it's alright
No AI controls for your teammates
Overall I wouldn't be surprised to see this get similar backlash that Dragon Age Inquisition got. It has similar problems so far, but without the amazing charm that DA:I had with its characters... and not nearly as compelling a beginning as that game.
I also think it'll probably end up like MGSV for me. A game I might end up liking on its own merits once I put in some hours, but as a game in that series I didn't think it was good. Didn't like it in the same way I liked other Metal Gears. So far I'm not liking this in the same way I liked other Final Fantasies.

That sucks, Jeff. I pre-ordered the digital version in case something comes up with my Deluxe Edition pre-order from Amazon, which hasn't even shipped yet!! I did get to play last night for a couple of hours
I really like exploring the open world since it's rewarding and I get a chance to learn the battle system mechanics along the way.

Tp start, I am a HUGE FF fan. But, from the demo and continuing coverage of the game, I was very nervous to purchase. Finally, this morning, I broke. The first 5 minutes of the actual game really stuck out to me. I laughed when Conan made fun of it, but honestly, the music, the banter... I think this is going to be a great adventure.

Imperials are the Niflheim empire. They attack Insomnia to steal the last crystal left in the world, which is also a source of power for them
Noctis wasn't mad but frustrated that his dad never told him there was some danger. King Regis was aware of the danger hence he sent his son away so he wasn't killed by the empire.
Crystal is a source of magic and power and apparently the last one left in the world is owned by Insomnia so the Empire wants it, so they can use its magical power.

Also I watched 15 minutes of Kingsglaive and liked the action scene or two that I saw but man it didn't really let up as it went to the next, then the next, so 'next' I jumped to the neighboring movie over in the theater. Well that and I was stalling time for it but still, lol. I just hope I could forgive the storytelling if the characters are endearing, but I won't cross any fingers yet.

Try Type-B controls. They're easily the best, as far as objectively being able to access every major mechanic at any given time.
I prefer to play on Type-A, personally, but your problem seems like something B would fix.

Man, I played that arcade game for like 90 minutes last night. The first 30 minutes or so were okay and then I got tired of it but didn't want to quit because I thought you might get some good item or something. Eventually I was just trying to die and I couldn't. lol. I have about 3 hours of play time in FFXV and probably half of it is from that game.
lol I still don't get what people find hard about it. It's just really long
