I'd also recommend watching Kingsglaive after you do chap 1.

Chap 1 takes place pretty much 'during' the timeline of Kingsglaive.

If you watch that first you'll know what happens in chap 1 before it happens
While i agree with this, seeing noct and co's reaction was heart wrenching. Very well acted out.

I heard that i should absolutely get Ignis's regroup ability. Haven't played the game yet. How do i get this ability and equip it?
It's in the ascension menu, on the techniques page. You then have to equip it via the gear menu - you have to equip new abilities for the party.
Hmm, I don't think he's died once for me.

Ignis, on the other hand, wew. He might as well just be a walking corpse.
Guess you got a lucky Prompto :p

Ignis is usually the last to die for me. Prompto, then glad, then Ignis.
How do you turn off overscan?
What tv do you have? Best to google "turn off overscan (tv manufacturer)"

In the Ascension part of the menu. It's an awesome skill you can unlock once you hve sufficient AP, it regroups your party and heals them in battle.

You equip it in the Gear menu for Ignis

I didn't think the XB1 version looked bad when checking it out on a few youtube videos. On my big TV it looks really ugly though. Everything seems a bit blurry. Game itself is ok so far. Only two hours into it.

Just hit 18 hours, Chapter 3. Continue to run around and do sidequests and exploring the world.

I continue to enjoy myself, and actually don't think the story is as bad as some claimed. There isn't much THERE yet, for sure, but some of the camp/hotel scenes you get with the guys is kind of nicely done. The "tour" side quests are definitely my favorite so far. Nice little insights into the bros.

For driving, I'm surprised how much I love putting it into Auto and just enjoying the sights while I listen to old FF music. The portable MP3 player is also making these fetch side quests a joy. As much as I love the music in XV, it's bringing back nice memories listening to stuff from the older games.

I have a sneaking suspicion there are micro-transactions inbound for that. Swim wear for Gladios, official Doc Martens for Prompto, a French Maid outfit for Cindy... sky's the limit.

I'm so annoyed that I would spend money on this. It would be the first game since the Tomb Raider reboot where I was shelling out money for better outfits.

Please give me an outfit for Gladio that doesn't have wide-legged pants and a high waist. It's like he's an inch or two of fabric away from wearing flares, and his default outfit already borderline channels a bizarre BDSM version of Saturday Night Fever. I will take his tracksuit from Brotherhood even! He also had a nice official guard kinda outfit in Brotherhood. I will take anything!

Does Ignis use it automatically, or do i have to call for it?

Played this game for about 2 hours last night (including the tutorial).
To be honest, I didn't get blown away by the graphics (base PS4). Hope it gets better later on. Are the patches (Ver 1.01-1.02) improves the visual? haven't download the patches yet cause I want to play it directly.

Backreading through the thread, I'm glad I'm not the only one who got fucked over by UPS on this. I ended up just buying it from the store; I'll return the Amazon one when it comes in the mail and nag them for an extra month of Prime to make up for it.

I sweat the graphics look better than on the Judgement Disc demo, but that could just be hype getting to me or maybe Judgement Demo's assets got fixed up a bit. I didn't play the base game before the patches went through.

Kinda annoyed that I know too much Japanese to notice how many times the spoken language doesn't match the english subs at all (it seems they didn't make seperate english translation for Japanese VA and just use localized english subs)

I guess my PS4 is dying, though I played the demo of Doom today for hours, and it was smooth and looked great.

Sure XV can be smooth, but I've noticed it being somewhat choppy/stuttering framerate. Even when driving the car the first time when rotating the camera.

Anyone else experiencing this on a regular PS4? I guess Pro is recommended for this game.

On chapter 13 and just wow this story and its presentation are a complete train wreck , it's a shame because it could of been something special, but instead it's a series of connected plot points with little and sometimes no attempt to connect them together as a story .

the secret dungeon
after ~6 hours~ of livestream.

One of the most amazing gaming experiences I've ever had.

I'll post a link to the YouTube replay once it's avaliable :D

I've been playing for only two hours, but so far I'm liking it. One question, can you proceed with main quest stuff without needing to grind? Like am I going to hit a ceiling where if I didn't do all the side quests and grind I'll be stopped?

Still having issues with R2. Both the Regalia and Chocobos go insanely slow. Is my controller broken or did I do something weird in the options menu? Anyone else having this issue?

On the Ignis episode of Brotherhood and I think he's my bro. Nerdy, obsessed with cooking and is the Donatello of the group.

Really glad I'm watching these, they're already making me really love the characters.

Will be starting the game proper after these.

You sure it isn't frame pacing? It's one of the problems affecting all versions of the game.

Just tried it multiple times, skipping and not skipping the tutorial at the start of the game to be sure.

Do tutorial = frame pacing issues
Skip tutorial = no issues at all.

Seems like the tutorial screws something up.

TBH it doesn't bother me regardless, as I'm not sensitive to things like this. I actually have to look for it, but for those that find it annoying and are about to start the game and still want to do the tutorial.

1) Do the tutorial
2) Once finished, delete the saved data
3) Restart game and this time skip tutorial
Anyone know if this is true?

Yeah, the framepacing needs some work. I don't notice it consistently, but when the framerate shits the bed a bit it gets pretty obvious.

This. Just start the game for 2 hours and I already found many differences between the Japanese vo and the english subs.....

Just Played a bit of King's Tale. Surprisingly not shit, I'm impressed.

About to boot up the game now. Shit, I don't even remember the last time I played an FF game day one (VIII?). So excited!

Can someone confirm?

I'm only ~1,5h in so I still could do this D:

That moment when you pop in FF XV and there's an 8GB update...and it gonna take 6 hours to download.....and I have work in the morning....and I have double shifts til Sunday....

WHHHHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYY!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

So I had downloaded like 90% of the patch, put my PS4 in rest mode and came back ready to play and now it's suddenly redownloading all 9.4 GB of it with 4 hours left. Goddddddaaaaaaammmmmmmmmiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit

Am I doing it wrong? I've set the options to Japanese Voice and English Text. But when I start the game it's all in Japanese and no subtitles at all. What am I doing wrong ?
