to be fair, all these guys are supposed to be super exaggerated based on media though. Ignis is super british, Gladio is super macho and his voice doesn't even sound much like a normal person ect

I ain't knockin' points o'er it er anythang but when I hear her talk I'm just all like gee golly ya'll really went and laid 'er on thick now!

Got the game, installed the crown update, but I'm going to watch Kingsglaive and the Brotherhood anime before I start.

I have a quick question. Which voice track should I go with? I'm undecided.

Edit: Nevermind. I noticed people have been talking about it above. I'll go with English.

So at the midnight launch last night only 35 people were in line at my gamestop. There were just 100 pre-orders that's the same as the FFX|X-2 HD (which bombed) a few years ago.

I'm concerned FFXV may not break 1m in its debut week here in North America (it won't in Japan), that would be a tragedy and not bode well for overall sales.

FFXHD sold over a million copies globally easily. So to KH 1.5 and 2.5

FFXV breaking a million in a week in America of all things is ridiculous bro, maybe at the end of next month. FF isnt anywhere near what it once was.

I agree, the Voice Acting is very good. A huge step up from most Japanese voice acted games (which usually have anime voice actors who tend to be a little more cartoony.) This game strikes a nice balance between realism and fantasy in it's voice acting.I have to give them props for having such a large spectrum of accents, even though some of them are stereotypical it's still entertaining.

Shout out to Noctis voice actor stepping up his game since early Duscae demo voice lines. Absolute perfection, he nailed it in the end.

I disagree, I think the voice acting is pretty bad by most modern standards in video games (which already is a lower standard than what you'd find with any other VA). Part of it is also not just the delivery, it's also the dialogue (written in a way that most people wouldn't ever talk in real life), and the way the lines were edited together (pauses and lack thereof that wouldn't exist in natural conversation). They're still way, way off the mark as a whole.

X/X-2 bombed how? Thought it was pretty successful for a remaster unless I'm forgetting the numbers lmao.

Who knows how sales will be. I wonder what the breakeven point is just for the game (obviously SE has done other things to make money off the FFXV name).

Random but I just checked Metacritic and noticed it's now down to 84. Doesn't matter to me but I wonder if it'll even out at just the same score as FFXIII haha.

This game will sell 3 to 4 million across its life span. People have to recognize that lightning trilogy really destroyed the momentum of the franchise, and the original 13's sales went crazy because of hype for the first PS3 next gen FF

5-6 million sell-in in debut month worldwide.

I am open to bet on it as well :p

Hahaha,,, there is actually a banter between the bros based on Ignis and his weak eye sight. Turns out it isn't weak enough for him to wear glasses all the time but he just prefers it this way.

Can you max out everyone's trees? Or do you have to be careful with AP spending?
Yes, you have to be very careful as I am level 60 and yet barely maxed out a single tree.

I dunno, I don't think people let franchises go just because of some bad apples, look at Force Awakens after the prequels supposedly ruined Star Wars lol

With the solid reviews and positive word of mouth in addition to it having more Western tropes the pendulum could sway in the other direction but we'll see.

Wait, yes you can max everyone out, or yes you need to be careful.

I dunno, that is more than FF13 even with the industry relatively cleaner at the time and less against Japanese games and less skeptical of a new FF after very bad releases. I don't think FF has the momentum outside of maybe the FF7R first volume, and even then it depends on how it is to see momentum going forward.

We'll see.

Four hours in and I've already earned 9 trophies. Hope this is a relatively pain-free platinum since I usually go for them in FF games.

If you focus on one specific grid, then yes, you will max it out easily.

But this is the wrong way to go. You need to spend the points on all the important initial nodes first. I recommend.

1. Air step + second air step for Noctis
2. First aid for all 3 bros.
3. Learn atleast the second technique for all 3 bros.
4. Learn the basic stat boost like HP and Strength.

I have already talked about it before in this thread an this is anecdotal but my friends who have never played a single FF are asking to play this game. Their interest mainly exists because of the epic monster encounters seen in the promo videos and the action-based gameplay. So yeh, I predict a lot of newcomers to pick FFXV.

Star Wars is a major media franchise in the west over 30 years old with a giant mega multinational corporation in Disney pushing marketing and ad spending basically everywhere that exists. It would be hard not to follow it or see something about it

Naturally, I'm just saying that if something better comes along people won't ignore it just because the last one or few weren't to their liking.

I'm super excited and dissapointed. Excited everyone is talking great, and its got amazing reviews, dissapointed because Amazon still hasn't shipped mine, even though I'm prime member and paid for the fastest shipping two monthes ago. wtf.

Even though I've played the first hour of the game twice in the Judgment demo, I can't say that having it all translated has done the game any favors. The cinematics at the gas station were laughably bad, to the point where it didn't feel like any of the characters were behaving like actual people.

I'm still not liking the combat, especially in close quarters. There's too many things moving around at once and I don't feel like I have control over it. The camera is one of the worst I've seen since Mario 64. Maybe I'll change my mind later but for now, there isn't a lot keeping me playing, between the boring sidequests and bland story.

I was talking with a co-worker yesterday and mentioned that I bought FFXV. He hasn't played any FF before but said he saw a cool trailer and will buy the game.

I'm positive that SE's marketing budget and the game's quality will drive plenty of sales.

Japanese voices are really good, but there's a lot of ambient NPC dialogue that has no subs. Additionally, looking at subs all the time when you're running around in the world is a bit annoying, so EN voices might be the way to go.

I definitely think they should let you take up as many bounty hunts as you like so you can get through several of them in one expedition. The game forcing you to take a hunt, do the hunt, go back to quest giver to turn it in every single time is some real time-wasting bullshit. There's no real reason to not let you take several hunts at once.

You'd better hope that's not the case because SE would never make another AAA game. Hell they'd cancel FFVIIR if that's the case.

FFXIII sold over 500k on Steam. It's a late port with half ass effort of a game suffering from bad WoM on the Internet.

I almost cried because the game looks so beautiful.

The combat is ok so far. I don't like how magic works.

I really hate how the screen crops off. Doesn't work on my TV. I hope they patch it.

Pretty much. The trailers might have terrible music (for FF fans :p) but they show a lot of cool and flashy gameplay that impresses everyone.

Any tips for dealing with large crowds of enemies, particularly
the random imperial soldier airdrops
?

One particularly useful thing is
Gladios tempest. Imprial soldiers appear to be vulnerable to it, and often go into vulnerable mode because of it. Also using a greatsword in general gives a good chance of knocking many imperial soldiers to the ground

Nice to see you here Ishida. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on the ending :D

It is VERY good!

Oooooh man, I highly respect your opinion, so that comment just made my day! I honestly can't believe I haven't reached Titan yet because I'm having a blast just running around, finding new places, doing hunts, finding new monsters (the Reapers are awesome!) and just enjoying the amazing visuals, the music and the character interactions. So far this game is surpassing my expectations of it, and I'm just starting!

Been playing for like 2 hours. I'm sorta digging it so far. It definitely looks nice. I think it'll start growing on me as I get more familiar with it. A couple questions, though.

1. Does combat system get more interesting/challenging? So far I feel like it's a lot of chaos and button mashing and I don't feel fully in control of the action. I remember the battle system in XIII starting off as pretty dull but as the game progressed, it became more complex and I started to really enjoy it. Can I expect a similar curve here?

2. I heard somewhere that there are literally only 2 towns in the entire game. Is that true? it seems exaggerated but 2 hours in, I haven't seen anything but fields, deserts and caves myself (except various stray gas stations and an abandoned warehouses). Not a huge deal, but kinda disappointing if true.
