Hey guys you may have missed this subtle bit of characterization, but if you pay careful attention you can see that Bearers are treated as sub-human while their masters are a bunch of mean poopy heads.
The music for that section was insane, seriously both Octopath 2 and FFXVI deserves on the best soundtrack of the year.So wow, just beat the bossand when the hell did this become Devil May Cry all of a sudden! that was incredibleTitan - the 3 Phase version
Oh yea the music all round is fantastic, I love the Hideaway music especaillyThe music for that section was insane, seriously both Octopath 2 and FFXVI deserves on the best soundtrack of the year.
From my impression, Ultima as the antagonist seems to fall into those immaterial types, that are more like personifications of natural forces.
They're typically godlike in nature but have a less emotional resonance, with respect to their motives. I can see why some didn't walk away a fan.
Ultima is same as Zanza from Xenoblade they are both detached from humanity they believe they can do what they want with their own creation.
Also it's not like Ultima came out of no where, this guy has pulling strings from early games, now that I'm playing for second time Ultima influence has been pretty clear.
I like the idea of them attempting to mix eastern and western fantasy tropes when it comes to certain aspects of the game, especially how the antagonist behaves. However, I just think that the execution could have been explored a bit better. I know they're supposed to come off as cold and otherworldly but instead they felt detached and awkward. It's not so much that Ultima didn't have influence, it was fairly obvious he did. It's that antagonists like that don't typically emotionally resonate as much as the ones that retain some of their humanity or feel justified when committing evil.
It's just harder to relate to a god than it is to a person if there isn't some well-crafted writing to provide that impact.
I think if Barnabas had more character development it could have helped. If you played Xenoblade 3 and Future Redeemed, in that game both N and Na'el fill the same role as Barnabas in FFXVI but the difference is both N and Na'el had much more character development, we know their reason why they do this and know what they used be like before they got manipulated by Z and Alpha which makes us hate the main antagonist even more because what they done to them, but we never got that with Barnabas, he seems was broken man from very beginning.I like the idea of them attempting to mix eastern and western fantasy tropes when it comes to certain aspects of the game, especially how the antagonist behaves. Ultima feels like a Kingdom Hearts antagonist character randomly inserted into something like The Witcher
You have to be extremely careful when doing this type of mix.
Not quite, if you read the active time lore it hint on how becoem broken.I think if Barnabas had more character development it could have helped. I know that, we also see in cutscenes Ultima turning in to his mother. but I do wish it had more development in the main game other than active lore. Not quite, if you read the active time lore it hint on how becoem broken.
I agree that some of the RPG mechanics and aspects begin to shine in New game Plus but it's just a shame that it's locked behind such a Time sink. Many people are going to get the wrong impression due to never bothering with New game plus and I'm a little burnt out so I don't feel like completing new game plus right now but I do recognize that when I did play through some portion.Playing through NG+ in FFXVI I feel like I'm doing more character building in this game than I ever did game like DQXI or even Cyberpunk 2077. Everyone will have own favourite Eikon set up that matches their own play style,
To me Ekion system in FFXVI somewhat similar to weapon system in Monster Hunter, each Eikon has its own quirks and mechanics which everyone will have their own favourites.
So this game as much RPG as any other JRPG out there.
i love 16 combat but i wish they had done the Eikon power into weapons ( like a job system ) , that way we would have a lot more variety in the gameplay, for exemple:Playing through NG+ in FFXVI I feel like I'm doing more character building in this game than I ever did game like DQXI or even Cyberpunk 2077. We could see that in next mainline FF game, but FFXVI was great direction if they are going go for true real time action RPG.i love 16 combat but i wish they had done the Eikon power into weapons ( like a job system ) , that way we would have a lot more variety in the gameplay, for exemple:
Ifrit/Phoenix ( Warrior ): the standard game sword.
Garuda ( Rougue ): two daggers and the skills to attack faster and cause more stagger, maybe a back stab for critical damage.
Titan ( Fighter ): two stones gaulets for big damage and block ( like the ones we see ifrit using )
Bahamut ( Dragoon ): Spear, lots of jumps and AOE attacks for mob control.
Odin ( Samurai ): big ass Katana for counter damage and zantetsuken.
i think this would be my dream scenario for a FF action focused.
as someone who played a lot Monster Hunter ( World and Sunbreak mostly ) i ll say that in FFXVI dodge window is waaaay bigger and forgivable than MH that's for sure, but i get ur point. The could do lift next mainline FF game, but FFXVI I great direction if they are going go for true real time action RPG.
Like the fact just like Monster Hunter I have pay attention to enemies/bosses animation in FFXVI.
Dodge window yeah but I would say parry is much more tricky in FFXVI compare to LS in MH Iceborne and Rise/Sunbreak, I also noticed when you summon Odin's blade you have much easier time pulling off parry because you have faster attack animation.as someone who played a lot Monster Hunter ( World and Sunbreak Mostly ) i ll say that in FFXVI dodge window is waaaay bigger than MH that's for sure, but i get ur point.
I like Clive, but I wish they would have given CliveJust finished this game and can say that in my opinion, this is the best mainline Final Fantasy we have received since 10, I would argue that it's even better than 10, I certainly like Clive a lot more as a main character than Titus. Gameplay and the story were amazing, I wasn't sure making the game into an all action game would work out but I was pleasantly proven wrong. I still have a lot of questions regarding the story, hoping we get dlc or possibly a sequel in this universe.

I like Clive, but I wish they would have given Clivesome varied minigames to play on some of the sidequests, to expand upon the things he enjoyed doing in life other than fighting for those he cares for.
The more FF games I play, the more I realize how much Tidus stood out greatly as a protagonist. Tidus is a guy constantly trying to be positive and keep the team in good spirits while they endure such messed up moments, tragedies, and deaths. Even whenTidus held his head high, did his best to look at the bright side of things, and kept everyone moving forward. He went through all of this as a teenager. Other FF protagonists would have been far more depressed, dour, angry, etc. throughout the whole experience.his own mortality was in question
Tidus, Cloud, Clive, Zidane, Terra.I never agreed with the hate for Tidus. Thought he was a solid protagonist.
Tidus, Cloud, Clive, Zidane, Terra.
They're the best 5 FF protags.
I think part of it is simply his character model. He looks way too adult and people forget that him and Yuna are very young in that game. However, I don't know what they could have done because the more athletic teenagers in life are usually built bigger and are sometimes taller than most too. At least as far as I've known it to be, that's always been the case. I have a nephew who's on his high school football team and he's built larger than most the other teens there who aren't athletes.I never agreed with the hate for Tidus. Thought he was a solid protagonist.
I didn't like him initially when the game launched, but when I retrospectively looked at the game and played it again years later I came to really like him for a lot of reasons, some of which have been stated. I also enjoy the way he's able to naturally interface with Spira as a foreigner basically, even though he is from there. And it comes from a legitimate perspective due to his situation as opposed to some arbitrary amnesia or some other nonsense. This way the player and Tidus both learn about a lot of foreign concepts the game portrayed in a natural way.I never agreed with the hate for Tidus. Thought he was a solid protagonist.
Yeah I loved the fight for final boss, can't wait to fight it again in Final Fantasy mode.Best Final Boss fight since....shit I don't know. VII maybe?
how ? did u skip all cutscenes ? watching and reading everything, all hunts, all chronoliths, took me 70+ hours to finish this game.Just finished it, what an absolute classic. An incredible feat. Final Fantasy continues to be one of the greatest series in gaming. I've been playing these games for 30 years and am in awe with how they continue to push every time.
I'm legit shocked that some playthroughs have gone over 35 hours. I did all sidequests and hunts and finished in 26.
I'm 60 hours in, and still not finished(beat Odin).I'm legit shocked that some playthroughs have gone over 35 hours. I did all sidequests and hunts and finished in 26.
We DON'T talk about Furor savage here. That shit can one shot tank toward end of the fightanother FFXIV reference that i notice, look how close Ultima "Ifrit risen" lesser form is close to Eden Verse Furor Ifrit/Garuda fusion.

I'm not really sure what's the issue with that, that's how I play all my JRPGs. After main story quest, I will do all available side quests before moving on to the next chapter and unlike most other JRPGs they don't give you 20 quests at once and you still have the choice not to do them. The story is so fucking great during the main story levels, then the pacing just grinds to a big o'l fucking hault when they drag you back to the hide away to do fetch quests. I have not seen padding this agregious in years
There was nothing "technical" about the old final fantasy. It was all spaming your most power attack. FFVI? all about spaming Sabin skill, Ebagr tools, ultima. FFVII, highest tier spell, strongest summon. FFVIII? just junction. FFIX, same thign strongest skill and summon.Finished the game 2 days ago and had the time to reflect on my experience...
I think FFXVI is a masterpiece but it's not perfect for my tastes. The music is S++ Tier, the story is actually great, the world is gorgeous, the combat feels awesome, the voice acting can pull your heart strings, the rpg elements are lacking...the side quests SUCK ASS!
Seriously it felt like I was doing crap MMORPG side quests. While it is true that some of them really add to the world's lore, there are just too many of them and they are boring as fuck. I don't want 50 sidequests, I want 8-10 that will last me the whole game and their rewards be worth it. The best example of a great sidequest is the Chocobo sidequest where you dig for Chocographs and try to find the exact locations depicted in the pictures.
Also while the combat felt great, I hope the franchise return to a more tactical experience. I want to control teammates, I want to equip them with gear, I want to have to deal with status effect, etc
That being said I had a blast playing through it.
This amount of sidequest is nothing.... in XIV when you think you are done with quest? 10 more pop up by the crystal.I'm not really sure what's the issue with that, that's how I play all my JRPGs. After main story quest, I will do all available side quests before moving on to the next chapter and unlike most other JRPGs they don't give you 20 quests at once and you still have the choice not to do them.
VRR gamma flicker is a known issue and is usually a problem with the display, not the game.Being able to remove motion blur is great, but they didn't fix the vrr screen flickering issue. Guess I gotta keep it off unfortunately
Also does HDR look washed out to anyone else? Should I turn it off?
The way the combat works button mashing is not really beneficial and in "Final Fantasy" mode it just gets you killed. Now that most people have beaten this game. The one button masher trolls are no where to be seen.
I mean, his outfit was always a big wtf mishmashed thing, even back when it was released. Nomura being Nomura:I think part of it is simply his character model. True. It's a weird mishmash of design and that's what also makes it unique and somehow work within it's own universe. It's like "islander punk".I mean, his outfit was always a big wtf mishmashed thing, even back when it was released. Nomura being Nomura:
