Where do you guys get meal ideas? Im starting leangains tomorrow, I'm not sure what to cook besides the standard grilled chicken/veggies/brown rice.

Seems like a small adjustment but I think this would be much better.

I realize now that's important. Let me outline my day....

Wake up at 6:30 to walk my dog. I'll make my lunch and only drink coffee.

Eat lunch around 2. It should be moderately sized.

Snack before dinner (probably quest)

Very large dinner.

On workout days I'd probably have another small snack before working out then a big post workout meal.

On Wednesdays I workout in the AM (I don't start work until 11:30) so Wednesday will have to be a little different....probably a small meal, workout, huge lunch, moderate dinner.

Saturdays and Sundays I lift in the afternoon typically. I could always push this to late afternoons or figure something out n

I wave goodbye to new ideas. I keep things plain on purpose - reduce meals to a maintenance duty. Take no joy in it, take no suffering. Just do it. Same old shit. Some people don't function like I do, but I find the repetition and blandness of it all to help my focus. Some people don't like that at ALL.

Now when it's bulk time I'm gonna go buck wild.

Perfect! Do this for a couple months with the occasional cheat day thrown in so you don't go crazy and you will be ripped.

Sidenote...I call them cheat days but they are usually cheat nights that fit into my eating patterns. Only difference is the actual food consumed. That or I will throw in a massive, and I mean massive sushi lunch!

Wow! I could have written this myself! I am constantly telling people that eating to me is not for pleasue, it's for survival. I get my joy from eating on my cheat days. Cool thing is whatever your favorite food is it tastes 100x better on a cheat day!

There is a certain attitude that permeates other aspects of your life when food no longer has any power over you.

Cool I just won't be as consistent as some. My
Work schedule can be sporadic sometimes and so can my training. I think the key will be to stay as consistent as possible but not have a freak out if I veer off be path.

I also find that bland food starts to taste quite good after awhile. Like taste buds get more sensitive after some time without sugar.
I mean when green beans and a can a tuna can be delicious something is going on.

Judge consistency based on months and not days and weeks! This isn't a sprint!

Get a bigass wall calendar for your door. Mark each day you do it right with a big X. It'll help motivate you to keep the Xes going.

Totally, I completely know what you mean. It's like...you don't turn your diet into things that DON'T make you happy, you simply make good and bad disappear.

I did go through a period where I couldn't eat a potato without gagging. Had just eaten so many baked potatoes that they were ruined for me.
I'm all good now thought. Potato rehab 12 step program. All better.

Hell yeah. Doing hot wings and tater tots myself

Good news! My neck is stab free!

Nice, do you get danger pay lol.

Fuck I was gazing at the box of wings in the freezer for a few seconds. Opted for the nuggets.

Almost finished everything, some taters left, and now I got some bloating cramps from over eating.

Mine's still baking. And no no danger pay, but I get payed very well and the benefits are hard to beat.

I'm gonna destroy these wings and tots and go hibernate.

I have deep range, never knew exactly where the 3 line was though, I can take flat footed HS/College threes. I really want to see how accurate I am from there, the HS line is cake and more of an arm shot.

Before I started lifting, rare basketball picture -

My form is great!

That's good arm development before getting into lifting. Arm dominant for sure. My arms are probably my weakest bodypart.

If my only time to lift is 6-8am- how do I intermittent fast?

Easy. Eat dinner early. It's about having that 8 hour feeding window. So you might need to end your last meal of the day at 2pm. 2pm to 6am is 16 hours of fasting. Sleep is easy mode fasting lol. But it still counts.

I went to the philly zoo today. I haven't been to a large public place in a while. I pretty much just go to work and then the gym.

It was pretty eye opening being in such a crowded place. So many overweight people, obese people, dudes with beer guts and weak looking guys. I'm either used to being around kids at work or strong people at the gym. It was honestly a nice confidence boost.

I think the interesting part is being seen by other people. When I am at the gym, I am a fucking nobody. There are countless guys on another level on all accounts: strength, development, aesthetics, etc.

but I go for a walk or dinner with a tight shirt and sometimes I feel the stare of people. When that happens, I think " you gotta be kidding me, come on, I am a pack of bones compared to everybody in the gym, no need to stare".. and yet I suspect that for those guys or girls staring that are overweight and can barely do physical activity, what I have is remarkable in some way, no matter how insignificant I think it is ... is a matter of perception.

Like cooter I assume. He lifts at that time and stops eating after lunch.
I usually lift around 5pm except on Saturdays. On Saturdays I lift at 9:30 and I have a shake and Red Bull after. I don't eat next until 4 and then again around 10 and I'm done for the day. Sunday is either a cheat day or a regular day. It depends on how strict I was that week which way I go.

Exactly. It's easy to get bogged down in negative thoughts at the gym (he's repping my 1rm!)

But compared to the general population we're all man (and woman) beasts.

You've probably answered this before, but what's your job?

Behavior specialist, specifically with autistic kids.

The pink scarf looks great on you Sean! Isaac stole my question Lol was going to ask the same thing.

What does this mean?

All it means that if I'm eating only two meals day due to fasting, those meals should comprise make up most of caloric intake for that day, hence the meals will be more calorie dense than eating 3 or 4 meals eaten throughout the day. You're still eating the same calories as per your weight loss goals.

For all you guys that have bulked up to 200+ pounds, and I say this without trying to be insulting, I cannot imagine ever weighing that much. I'm on the ass end of my bulk, and I'm clocking in at only about 170 with hopes of hitting 175 before I cut down to about 155-160 for the summer. I feel like having a number below 160 is kind of emasculating because it feels small as shit, but at the same time I feel like after I go above that number I start sweating like a pig at the smallest exertion.

Thanks, my arms have gotten a little bigger, but it's taken a whole lot of work to be honest. My arms are my weakest point right now as well, they may have started off with good size but putting more size on them has been a pain.

Everybody is different, that picture I posted above I was 235-240lbs and that's prior to lifting. I personally can't imagine being under 200lbs, the lowest I've gone was 215lbs in December and I felt skinny.

Depends on your height. If you're 5'2", you'll want a lower weight than if you're 6'2".

Also, muscle is heavy.

Yea, I'm 5'7" and when I just started college I only weighed 115 pounds so every pound heavier has felt like a milestone. I'm already in decent shape. However, I guess I've just convinced myself that this is around the upper limit of my frame, and am kind of jealous of you guys that weigh those 60 pounds more than me. On the other hand I feel like I push more than solid numbers for my weight so I think in the long run I will probably just try to be as strong as possible at around 160 cut.

160 and "cut" for a male doesn't compute to me. My sister in law is 140 and fit as hell. A man shouldn't weigh 160 and under if he can help it IMO. You're basically in the women's category at that weight athletically.

I'm trying to get back to 185 and I don't really want to weigh much more than that. maybe 190 tops. I'm 6' tall. different goals than mostly everyone in here though lol.

I disagree. This opinion makes sense for someone who's into powerlifting, who is trying to get as much mass as possible, but for someone like myself (and likely moocow) who is more interested in aesthetics, I'd want a low weight. Personally I would be pretty shredded at 165 and I'm 5'7" as well.

It would maybe make more sense if I could see it. All I see is 5'7 160lbs and I know my sister in law is only 20lbs off of that.

I'll probably post photos this summer. For a more immediate reference, I think Chris Jones shredded would be like 175 or something and I think he's 5'8"/9". And dude's a monster.

I agree. Besides aesthetics, 150-170 (and possibly lower) is also a perfect weight for a male who is into sports such as soccer, boxing, etc. So I don't understand how its a "woman" weight category. Different people have different goals.

Because it's very close to what many athletic women weigh. Not really that hard to grasp.

True, but I have certain aesthetic goals that I would like to meet. For my height and frame I feel that this is the correct weight range for it. This weight is not holding me back either because before I started my first cycle of 5/3/1 a month ago I had a max of 405 deadlift and 275 bench, and I feel I can definitely get that to at least a 500 deadlift within the year.

I'm posting this knowing it's going to sound inflametory, but it's not meant to.

What's the goal aesthetically of being that light? Ambercombie (can't be bothered to look up the spelling) type model?

Shit, even packing on 25 more lbs more than that )of lean mass) and you end up with a Cooter esque body that looks really good.

I'll probably post photos this summer. For a more immediate reference, I think Chris Jones shredded would be like 175 or something and I think he's 5'8"/9". And dude's a monster.

175 will look quite a bit different than sub 160.

Also, no idea who Chris Jones is.

If one just cares about aesthetics only, why care about how much you weigh? Isn't the goal to look good regardless of how much you weigh?

My thoughts anyway. I can understand wanting to reach lets say 175 @ 12% bf because you once weighed 190 and are trying to cut down. But to say specifically, I want to way this much, never made any sense.

If my logic makes any sense lol.
