Weird question for fit-gaf. Do you guys use one brand of deodarant? Or two types, one for casual and for lifting? I use right guard and the shit is great for my bball and lifting, but it destorys my regular shirts with yellow pit stains. I tested old spice and generic speed stick with "no stains!" And was just curious what other fit freaks use

I'm currently using old spice wolfthorn. works for everything. I just put it on in the morning/before I go out (if I showered beforehand), and it lasts allllll day.

I'm not exactly sure what you're asking here

Let me clarify. I can't do back exercises, arm exercises, certain chest exercises..pretty much anything that requires my arms to bend and straighten out I can't do because I risk my tattoo scarring and tearing and not healing properly. So I'm looking for body exercises to do for the next 2 weeks..Like I don't want to keep doing legs for 2 weeks straight ya know?

Yeah, I'm going to be completely blunt. If those are real deal PR's for you, that's good. However, you shouldn't be maxing out, right now, if those are your numbers.

Get on a real deal, novice, LP program like Grayskull LP or Starting Strength. Do them as described. Eat. Train. Get swole.

Starting Strength should arrive any day (ordered a paperback)

when I was on painkillers over the last month I didn't shit for 3, 4, or even 5 days at a time. now I'm pretty regular 1-2 times a day lol.

once every 2-3 days sounds abnormal. get on that metamucil.

Nah I get plenty of fiber and am never constipated. Maybe it has something to do with eating frequency? I do IF and only eat twice a day (no snacks either).

edit: from WebMD

Depending on your diet, your age, and your daily activity, regularity can mean anything from three bowel movements a day to three each week.

Update on suppliments I now take.

Whey, creatine, poop juice (fiber)

1 Multi-Vitamin
1 Magnesium
4 fishoil
2 Milk thistle

Nothin' like milk thistle at the end of the day...

Maybe a Casein shake before bed? I dunno.

People's weird conceptions about protein shakes though, oy vey. Nothing like a protein shake at the end of the day? Silly.

Ain't like it's motha fuckin' caviar or a fucking Tbone, or double malt scotch man!

Yeah the concept of protein shakes being magical always confused me. It's fucking protein. If I had it my way I'd get it 100% from food.

Ok whey is food but you know what I mean.

How often should you lift for maximum mass gaining? I've been doing twice a day for about a week now but I'm wondering if I should take off one day a week.

Probably the only people who can lift twice a day are those who are genetically super gifted AND taking steroids at the same time.

The rest of us should limit our lifting to 2-3 sessions a week, four at the most.

Anyway I bought some BCAA yesterday. Unflavored and 27,5€ for a 500g can. Should last me 50 training sessions if I take 10g before each workout. The reason I bought it is that I like to train fasted and I'm trying to avoid whey since I'm eating paleo.

You may think you're a super hero but you aren't man. Workout 3-4 at the most a week. With your workout you'll see noob gains initially but you'll plateau very fast. Unless you are a complete genetic freak which I doubt.

Ive told you this before but screw Decline. I even gave it another shot after your success story and I hated it even more than usual. Only exercise that feels likes its working out nothing. I can lift a lot on it though which I guess is a silver lining.

Fair enough. But for me, I get a huge pump and feel great. I love it. Can't remember who suggested it on GAF but thank you very much. Doran Yates, thank you as well :D

Twice a day? The fuck? You should never be lifting twice a day every day.

Yeah, twice a day can be fine depending on your regiment. Twice a day every day? Nah, not needed.

Also, on a cut but who says that you can't a good meal?

Yuck sausage Lol. So far I've been going for a month now and haven't gained a single pound. My weights fluctuated from 143-141. Thought I'd be 150>_<.

I'm finding out the hard way why athletes get fat after they retire or during the summer. I'm eating the same as I did when I worked out every day, and I've lost weight but I'm getting fat. lol.

You must never had dat Trutein Cinnabun with unsweetened almond milk. Highlight of my day.

Now if we are talking Optimum Nutrition or poverty whey, yeah I'd rather eat my own vomit.

What a dumbass.

Just got back from the gym and had a pretty entertaining afternoon. This guy in clearly great shape(About 5'9 - 180lbs) is squatting 315lbs and has to bail on it twice. When I say bail I mean bail at almost full height dropping the bar all the way to the ground. After the second attempt I tell him Ill spot him if he promises not to drop the bar on my fricken head to which he assures me he wont. He proceeds to add another 10lbs to each side and I calmly try to explain if he couldn't go down 3 inches without bailing he might want to lessen the weight not add to it. He tells me the only reason he failed the previous attempts was because he breathed out against the weight belt instead of holding his breath....

Fair enough. I get behind him and sure enough he starts to go down and immediately ditches the weight forcing me the leap back like Spiderman to avoid getting hit. I'm so pissed I just walk out of the squat room.

Later on I see him take a pair of 80lbs Dumbbells into the aerobics room to do lunges. Nevermind that the room is packed with about 10-13 High School girls doing some routine in there and the fact that there is about 2,000 sq ft. of open gym space available to him. Well apparently the girls were uncomfortable with him in there and ask him to leave. He takes his weight and uses it to slam open the double hinged doors(which are all glass) completely smashing the window out. The gym absolutely stops in its tracks everyone, starring at this nut bag. The best part is he continues to work out like nothing happened until escorted off the property.

Iron Sport is an awesome gym. The monolift was great and I pushed out a 315 squat for the first time. Atlas stones are no joke. Underestimated one at 130 pounds. Steve wasn't there :(. No DYEL shirts in my size either :/

You should have chased after him and did a taunting monkey dance around him replete with indian noises as he left; leaving him only to fume in his limited capacity.

Great topic! I am on a diet/gym routine for around 7 months, I got my bodyfat from 32 to 18% - now I am aiming to 10% until december. It was hard at the beggining, starting to eat right was like a drug rehab. But when you start to look at yourself at the mirror after sone weeks, every single effort was worth

Is there any benefit to getting all your exercises for the day done in the same session? I'd like to do some barbell work at school, then come home and do some dumbell stuff at home later. I almost feel like it would be better to get 2 short sessions during the day, instead of 1 longer session, but that's based off of nothing.

It's true. Dropping the weight is a very big, huge step - and it truly is like being in rehab trying to get off of a drug. People are very seriously addicted to a lot of bad shit, and it should be treated like one. I'd clap you on the shoulder if I could - congrats on your staying power!

I mean, I would think one session would be better than 2 in the same day. Time under tension and all that. 2 sessions would split both the time and tension lol

What's everyone's experience with Tanita body composition analyzers? I went to a gym today to get a BF% measuring. Are they considered pretty accurate?

So on Monday I'm signing up for the gym again afte working out for 1.5 years but then having been forced to drop it for a year due to illness.

I was originally a skinny guy and made good gains back then, on SS, but I also accumulated way too much fat. I am back to 143 lbs from 165 lbs with most muscle atrophied and slightly skinny-fat BF%. Wondering if this time I should try a cleaner bulk, maybe something with IF and Leangains? However all the focus on macros etc. just makes me dizzy.

I also have the additional problem that I will have to do some 30-40 minutes of cardio on off days. I am wondering if that would impact anything.

I would appreciate if someone could just suggest where I should start right now. With SS I made OK gains in the beginning but stalled afterwards because I felt I could support gains only by insane bulking. I just didn't want to end up with the fat powerlifter body. And the squatting frequency was way too brutal. Maybe just do a month of SS and then see where to go from there?

There's plenty of powerlifters that aren't fat, you're feeding into stereotypes. Also, you seem overly worried about gaining any small amount of fat. Maybe you should just focus on staying skinny?

If you want to get muscular, eat and lift. If you want to be skinny, expend more calories than you take in. It's that simple.

As a novice you should be able, for a time, to gain muscle and burn fat. Also SS got to be too much for you because you worried too much about gaining any fat. (And probably other reasons I'll refrain from mentioning).

It really seems like you just wanna stay skinny. Or you want a "NOW" result. I hate to tell you, but this isn't some overnight shit. It's a lifestyle and a constant life's work. If you can't handle that, quit now.

If you're back to an untrained sort of state and you want to make progress without fattening up, just try to keep your protein up and your calories stable. You don't need to go GOMAD to get to intermediate levels by any means whatsoever; that's intended for skinny athletes with extreme activity levels who can shed the fat gains quickly after the bulk is over, mostly concerned with the fastest possible transformation. The folks here doing bulk and cut cycles are usually years into their training and would make little to no additional progress without a caloric surplus. Not the case if you're undeveloped.
