Forza 5 Showroom | New cars and details for Forza 5, ongoing reveals

Ha! I kind of did this with a group of around 30 Forza friends a year ago. They had all played Forza since at least the beginning of FM2, and all played Forza at least 15 hrs a week.

The person who had spent the longest time in Autovista clocked in at just under 4hrs........ because he had fallen asleep!

Most of us were around the 1 hr 30 mark. Enough time to unlock the cars in the challenges, and listen to Clarkson. That's it.

It was a rather sterile tech demo in FM4, and although from what we've been told it's much better implemented in FM5, it's too steep a price to pay for the loss of approx %60 of the car roster.

I just wish microsoft had given T10 six more months development time.

iirc, I had 24 mins in that mode or something :D
I know for sure I havent even seen all the cars.
it was like a thing, an app completely out of the game.

but also, now that people say "in for top gear forzavista commentary"...
are we sure that each car will have clarkson or someone talking about it?
or is the commentary not tied per car, and more like per career event, like some video we show earlier..

Mods and liveries should make it a fair bit more more compelling. I'd like that demonstrated asap.
I've asking this too. I mean, any NORMAL person, would first show the new features that he offers, THEN announce the number of included cars, THEN announce the dlc number of cars and pricing.
especially if he had to announce like a 60% increase in dlc prices, and a diminished day 1 roster.

here, its "situation reverse" :D

Quick straw poll: who here gives a fuck about Forzavista?
Me me me! As someone who paints and photographs just as much as I race, I really hope I can take pics with open doors etc. this time. Autovista pissed me off for not allowing liveries. Another thing, I sure as shit hope they can let me save big shots on a flash drive this time instead of waiting for fucking ever to upload then download. But this is Microsoft, so I'm sure it's the same shit show.

Remember that ForzaVista is a major "graphic whores pleaser" for the One, it's the kind of thing that Microsoft can show and say "THIS IS NEXT-GEN, LOOK AT THE SHINY-SHINY, NOW GIVE US YOUR MONEY", specially with the liveries and mods.

If you want lots of tracks and cars, it's better to wait for Forza 6 or 7, when they can reuse the next-gen models.

Perhaps Vista is a little more interactive now....?

I guessed F1 before the announcement and I'm gonna throw it out there that this is what you are referrering to by 'surprise features'.

Could if be that you can drive straight out of the Garage on to 'a track' a track being some sort of Italian pass or simply just a test track?

Anyways, looking forward to the news coming and hope it is indeed today.

That would change things for sure.

Honestly anything they could do to tie it into gameplay.

I had long ago requested on the official forums that they tie it into tuning and upgrades.
Open the trunk, let me mess around, also show me a bunch of cool graphs and overlays as I adjust spring tension or tire pressure. And a lot of etc. All in AV.

I am excited for vista but after awhile I see myself not using it, so in hindsight vista isn't worth it. They should really just have vista for community voted cars. And focus more time having more cars. Also with the DLC being priced pretty high, I'll probably never buy it, but that doesn't mean I won't buy the game. 200 is low, in my opinion, and I haven't played much racing games lately, but I would really like to see a great amount of choices.

Though, with fewer cars, and with vista for each, the cars they do have probably react very much like the real counterpart. So I could see and understand having fewer cars as a plus as well. Can't wait till November 22!

Also, Microsoft should really give Turn 10 a 2 1/2 year cycle for development at least to really pump out some amazing quality. Turn 10 really has the potential!

Grom? (Not sure who it was)

But they set up a Google shared spreadsheet a while ago with Gaf's wants in the future, any chance you can or anyone can dig that up?

Also gonna throw it out there that the pit stops have been improved somewhat, or I'd hope so with the addition of the people in the pre race presentation :)

Forzavista isn't Autovista though.

From what it sounds/looks like, Forzavista will be awesome. I like painting and photographing cars. Also, if the majority of things that have to do with customizing cars happens in that mode (including driving onto the test track) then I'll be spending a ton of time in it.

In for Jeremy's, Richard's and James' narratives. One listen, maybe two if the banter is particularly good. Beyond that, Forzavista is a waste of dev resources. 0.1 faques given.

IIRC, it was said that the Top Gear Trio provide colour commentary for the career (like that video of the Supercar career narrated by Jezza), but not for Forzavista.

I like it a lot, combined with the spoken mini-reviews for each. The fact that it means these cars are modeled to a higher than otherwise necessary standard is part of the appeal for me.

It better be in! How can you not have the perfect Ferrari? Plus it has been in like every Forza game.

So uhh....no 13' Astra Tech Line? That seems like it would have been pretty important, what with the Top Gear partnership and all that.

The good part about the Autovista cars is that they are being made now and can continue to be used in the future versions of the game.

I couldn't agree with you more more ;-)

Whatever successes Forza has is in despite of their PR department. That goes for Microsoft as a whole across many different divisions. Phony, and self-serving is how they often present themselves, and subsequently how they're identified. The people that make the games and products are great. Too bad they're let down by poor messaging.

I think it's the material shader upgrades, especially the interiors, which has caused the drop in the roster, not the basic models. Didn't Greenawalt say before FM4 that the models were future proof?

They've just not had enough resources, namely TIME Curse your 2 year development cycle Microsoft!!

@ Big Takeover. Agreed, but I've come to expect little more from the PR industry, considering it used to be called Propaganda. Microsofts/T10's PR seems more inept than most.lol

Will we be paying extra for every new car they develop for the game? Like, when we get to 600, will we have paid for all of this over the cost of the game? Like are we directly paying for the development of this game, or the license to play it?

If that's the case, I might have been satisfied pre Forzavista! I just wanted to race!!

It almost physically pains me that there won't be a Zonda R in FM5 at launch, and the scarcity of race cars and rare and historic exotics is almost enough to convince me that the additional sourcing and modelling requirements for Forzavista do not justify its inclusion. That ship, of course, has long since sailed.

Weirdly, some FM4 cars already modeled for Autovista like the Veyron, Koenigsegg CCX, Reventon, and Gumpert Apollo aren't on the list. Possible candidates for the day one DLC?

Some soothing words from the NED that is BAD right about now would be welcome.

In the launch video from yesterday it showed the engine to the Zonda R... are we sure its not in there??? This is THE car I use on the Ring in GT5 so I hope its there in F5!

Not even close, Forza 4 levels of quality were never even close to this level of quality other then Autovista.

Uh these models are being developed to be used in races...

Every game you buy you are buying a license to play it you don't actually own the content.

I'm fine with 200 cars as a starting point, I don't think I ever drove more than that in a single Forza game. Now, what is very important is the track list, if it's cut in half or even more then it will be a disaster.

Keep telling yourself that. We already know the models get downgraded when in race. We've seen it already.

Full grid on left, no interior detail.
Time trial(?) on right, interior detail.

You can expect each to be lower LOD's anyway without that. They aren't going to waste several million polygons on details you won't see in race.

Not that I think what you're saying is unlikely, but I'd wait for the final version of the software to base this sort of assertion on, considering the version without the engine was from an old build with known visual glitches, and the one on the right is from a newer, but still old version.

no, both pics are from races, none is single car. but are different builds.

we will see how they finally juggle the car detail when we have the fuckin thing in our hands.

So were the cars in FM2! But I wasn't paying ala carte!

I get that, but it feels like we are paying T10 staff directly now for every nut and bolt. I dunno, I usually do not feel that way when buying products in general.

yes, i couldn't identify the building behind the arch, but it's just because the perspective is squashed.
So, not a lot of tracks in the vid..

1) Alps
2) Prague NEW
3) Spa NEW
4) Bathurst NEW
5) Laguna Seca
6) Le Mans RESCANNED
7) Sebring
8) Yas Marina NEW
9) Top Gear Test Track
10) Indianapolis
11) Silverstone RESCANNED
12) mysterious test track NEW
so which are the missing two?
Helios? BadNed? anyone?

they better be monza and long beach!
article says tracks cut where victims of being "lowtech and/or old", not victims of "greedy as fuck microsoft".
so these two, we know from smartgeometrics that you scanned and are fresh.

14 tracks just saved me £470. I'll pick it up next year when there will probably be a GOTY edition with more content.

I'll still keep my eye on people's impressions though.
