I really hope at least 10 more tracks for free DLC in the future. Somebody needs to ask Turn10 about plans for more tracks and how they should be free.

Shots look stunning and 200 cars more than enough, specially when looking at what's included!

but 14 tracks and only 16 cars on-line, when you have dedicated servers :(

Is this all the content we get with game or is it what's on disc only and there will be more as a day one download?

Supposedly this is the disc-only content, that's why I have some hope. The Day One download could include 50 cars and 4 tracks, for example.

The number of online cars doesn't have anything to do with dedicated servers, but with the ability to render so many cars on track.

I wouldn't get your hopes up, but I'm skeptically hoping 2 tracks are in.

is the reason why I'm excited about next-gen. Visuals are nice and all, but dynamic alterations to make gameplay more realistic is what I'm searching for. Note, I'm biased as a MS employee, but this dynamic ai creation is an area in which I'm deeply interested.

Tracks in (on disc)
Bernese Alps
Catalunya
Spa
Indianapolis
Le Mans
Laguna Seca
Mount Panorama (Bathurst)
Prague
Road Atlanta
Sebring
Silverstone
Test Track Airfield
Top Gear test track

Tracks cut( as I write)

Sedona
Suzuka
Tsukuba
Sunset Peninsula
Camino Viejo (including Iberian & Ladera)
Fujimi Kaido
Hockenheimring
Infineon (Sonoma)
Maple Valley
Mugello

Is this correct? It looks even worse when written down. :-(

Where's the track list?

I went to the Showroom link in the OP and I get a 404.

Add nürburgring and nordschleife

people keep forgetting this is a launch game I know it has the forza label but well it is a launch game.
There's no way around looking at this as a loss of a lot of content for existing Forza fans.

I think the actual idea of setting a new baseline quality bar for all cars and tracks makes a lot of sense actually, but that idea doesn't make such a great pair with the crazy monetization and day one DLC/season/car passes.

Makes it look like people are being asked to pay a whole hell of a lot more for a lot less.

Thanks!

Edit: No Kaido and no Nurburgring and no Maple Valley or Road America is fucking heartbreaking.

Hockenheim got cut? That doesn't make much sense. Not that I'm a fan, but that's a track added in Forza 4. Surely it would've been futureproofed?

Shock that this one is missing

Mugello was always my test track. Sorry to see it dropped.

I hope we see some of these come back, particularly the fantasy tracks.

Yeah, it's a great fictional track and on next-gen it would have been beautiful.

Looking at the list, my fear about Japanese tracks were right unfortunately. Looks like Smartgeometrics doesn't go to Japan... :-/

And Suzuka.

Ouch!

Damn, I like the tracks that were dropped, more than I care about the ones that are in.

Sedona, Maple, Suzuka, Road America, Mugello (long), Fujimi...

Whoo. Whatever I am still in day 1. What else am I gonna do? sigh.

So it looks like we start with less content then we did with Forza 2. By the end of the generation will be at Fora 4 content wise and we won't see day/night/weather again cause there won't be time for it, everyone will be busy bringing back the content that we lost lol

I knew it would happened, I even said so. It seems that every time we get great new tracks we loose shit load more in the process.

So true! lol and cry at the same time.

As disheartening as today's car and track news has been, and make no mistake, it's been a straight-up shot to the nuts, some solace can be taken in the fact that what FM5 does include looks and sounds fairly incredible.

Case in point, this b-roll gameplay footage, (note: may contain filling-rattling sound).

Good as that shit is, I'll probably end up taking a wait-and-see approach to FM5, and will be closely reading the impressions of those of you in here who pick it up in a couple of weeks.
Don't make me give in!

None of my favorite tracks made the cut. Never in a million years would I have expected this.

Those new tracks have a lot of weight on their shoulders.

Forza still remains for me by far and long the most desirable thing this winter and the forward future. (all nextgen and pc included)
If you judge what is given in absolute numbers, I dont think many other games (other than gt) can claim much better in quantity. hopefully whats offered will also be un-matched in quality!!
And if we try to compare with other next gen releases, content sure looks plenty.

BUT
it seems that the pencil pushers finally figured out that there is a lot of money to be milked from early adopters, and I have a feeling forza 5 will be a prime example of milking.

14 tracks and 200 cars? After Forza 4, that's very disappointing.

While I'm sure Forza 5 will still be very good in gameplay, Microsoft/T10 should have delayed this game to early 2014 and gotten in more content.

200 cars and 14 tracks plus a $50 season pass. Oh god. I'll still buy it, but man does it sound like a shit deal.

No Fujimi, Mugello, Suzuka, ME NO BUY FM5.
Having to cut content to meet the release date is understandable, less cars is ok, less features (day/night) is bearable, less tracks is acceptable (and new tracks is great), cutting popular tracks is no good...

Waiting for confirmation, then switching to rage mode.
GT5 fans had the premium/non premium cars sh*t to deal with, now FM fans have the "FM5 (super)light edition" to deal with.

I'll miss Suzuka, Road America, Maple Valley, and Camino. I really, really don't see the point of another flat airfield given the presence of Top Gear, Silverstone, and Sebring.

Now all this stuff is described as "on-disk" content.

Are we still getting a content download at launch? Seems to have gone quiet on that front.

I'm not defending them here, as I believe the first 40-60 cars and 4-6 tracks should be free, but technically they didn't "cut" anything.

They're resurfacing and/or rebuilding every track from the ground up again. You can see this in a number of old tracks they brought back. Even the Alps track is very different structurally if you look at them side by side.

We better get a lot of crap in that day one update for me to consider car or track packs early on.

They're right.

People who are buying this game and are in this thread will buy that content.

As much as I hate to admit it, you're so right. (sigh) No Maple valley??? Some disappointing news, but I am all in still. This game is the reason I am buying a next gen system at launch! Better be added later and free for VIP's, or at the very least a SIGNIFICANTLY lower price. I need to get back to getting the last 300 points to get level 5 Forza Rewards.

I understand that, but that's therefore a design choice I do not support.

I have been racing with larger fields since the nineties (GPL/vroc) and 16 cars just does not cut it for me any more. I was hoping a next generation would make me interested in racing on-line on consoles again, but for now that has to wait.

Wow the track news really sucks.

But this is what happens with all launch games, which is why I haven't been that hyped for FM5.

This actually makes me a lot more hyped for FM6, because I know they'll have time to do it right. Along with being more experienced with the hardware. I would bet that FM6 will be awesome!

May the record show that I'm strongly in favor of their "high minimum bar" approach to content for FM5. I found it frustrating seeing PS2-quality assets and tracks used in GT5, particularly after GT5 Prologue demonstrated appealing consistency in its presentation.

200+ cars hits (just barely) the number of cars that gives me more than I'll need to play with, considering my play-style. I like the look of that roster, and unlike some, Autovista adds something to the equation for me the same way car profiles in GT4 and Sega GT 2002 did. The track number is absolutely on the low-side. It may be that these particular locations allow for extra variety in layouts, but that's yet to be seen. I do like the variety. I think it was unwise to promote early DLC while the reactions to the track and car selection were still being processed. That said, I again applaud consistency. The amount of work that went into this game is obvious. I hope that reflects in people's enjoyment of it. Chances are, I'll be a later adopter than some here. God speed, you champions of gaming. May He have mercy on your calipers.

I do too. On paper its great to have that minimum bar.

But that's a LOT of content being cut out there.

I figure it'd never happen, but I'd suggest Turn 10 take a cue from Guerilla and make tracks free. This way this news is more like a delay and the game appears more as a long term platform or service, and its a value add/cost of retention. Lord knows they already have Car DLC to bring in those nickles and dimes and dollars.

In your guys' opinion... what's the best option?

I say keep the old content in.
I'd vote on the Forza 5 approach. But I don't think you can do that *and* have the monetization schemes that Forza 5 does without souring things. Day one DLC, tokens, expensive passes, etc.

So... now we have a case where leaving in old content means getting shit on (GT5/6) and cutting old content means getting shit on (FM5).

I say keep the old content in.
