Forza 5 Showroom | New cars and details for Forza 5, ongoing reveals

Wow.

Well, I guess 200 is technically 'hundreds', plural. But it's not the generally accepted colloquial use of the term.

Forza PR bending the truth, news at 11.

The moment they stated "hundreds of cars" it was a given. For Forza 3 had "over 400 cars" from day one (source) and IIRC it was the same for Forza 2's 300 and 4's 500. Forza 3 also had ten times the polycount, when you weren't racing ofc. All cars also had fully functional cockpits and the launch trailer showed the Veyron's hp gauge working which was true for in Forza 4, but never 3. Better than the unfinished racing cars I guess.

Edit:
No ring.

"...a race around Top Gear's test track that's cheekily described as an accurate simulation of actual driving conditions in London. You speed past majestic cardboard cutouts of double-decker buses, Big Ben, and the London Eye, and the asphalt is strewn with garbage cans (or "rubbish bins" as they're called across the pond) and other objects. I've sometimes felt that the Forza series has taken itself, and cars, very seriously, to the point that it has bordered on stuffiness, so this event was a welcome bit of lighthearted fun."

Haha, I like the sound of that.

Just fucking LOL at that Eurogamer article and Dan in full PRbot mode. Answers with non answers....sigh.

14 tracks is just not enough I'm afraid, and if they had to update/laser scan everything, then they should have had more development time!!!! This game feels undercooked in the content department. What is there looks and sounds fantastic, there just isn't enough of it for me. Like nouvelle cuisine.

Those photomode shots though.......... drool

Atlanta made it? Yes!

Still not enough tracks. I would cancel my pre-order but I love Forza and I need something to play on my next-gen consoles. I wish they would have taken out the two test tracks and gave us Maple Valley and Nurburgring.

Didn't notice this at first, from the Eurogamer article: "Forza 5 is supporting two wheels when it launches, both bespoke units from Mad Catz and Thrustmaster for the Xbox One. But what about the Forza Fanatec wheels that came out to support the release of Forza 4? They'll work if you plug them into a PlayStation 3 for Gran Turismo, but not for Forza 5 on Xbox One - and there doesn't look like being any plans to make them compatible. “Legacy controllers don't go to the new platform,” said Greenawalt, before being asked whether adapters would be made available. “I don't know - I make Forza. I don't make the hardware.”

A pity to see no Fujimi Kaido or Nurburgring, but hopefully in time they'll make an appearance. Some of the tracks that did make it into the game are excellent circuits.

Are we going to get an article titled "Why Forza 5 has less tracks than Forza 4"?
That IGN video was kinda grasping at well. Graphics are the obvious "next gen" thing, as it comes with the territory, but cloud is something you can do this gen...

Sigh... I don't know what to say.

We already knew we weren't getting the ring until January guys.

We'll get a lot of tracks back once they're done rebuilding them.

I'm not sure why anyone's surprised. They had to make launch, and we're still getting them later.

I'm still in. But I am disappointed about the track number. It probably works out at around 40 ribbons (not counting reverse versions).

We had better get some stunning track DLC.

The graphics on this track look far better than all the others o_O It almost looks like a different game.

Should have used this instead of Prague for the promo stuff.

Indeed. That's what I call a realistic sun flare and not one from Mercury (size) or Venus (haze).

It is a really good looking track in real life.

That usually helps lol. Most race tracks are stale with nothing around it.

It does look like they tweaked their lighting a lot from those early builds.

Very happy to see that.

They toned down Krillen with his solar flash attack.

It really makes a huge difference, for the better.

Its a surprise to see nürburgring or suzuka cut while yas marina is ingame. An average track with a fancy hotel... Or hockenheim, twin ring, mugello and road america. Even tsukuba isnt in...

I ask myself now, how many tracks we lost because bathurst would notably take longer. Thats imho a bad deal. Ill buy the game anyway, but wont get any wheel for sure and dont see myself playing a lot.

That tracklist is a big let down since there is no official word in track dlc.

Dam my hype for this game has died!!! Clearly rushed to get out for launch and its the consumer that gets fucked for buying it. Hope the turn10 guys read this! NO ring, No suzuka?? Wait a min lets just release later for dlc along with a bunch of cars. NO THANKS

No Road America? Are you fucking serious???! No Hockenheim?

Fucking disgusting.

200 or so cars? No WONDER that car pack is $50. Squeezing their hard core fans. Turn10 should be fucking ashamed.

Going to be really strange not picking up this and the new Gran Turismo.

Can't justify buying another PS3 just for GT6, and I fully believe, while it will be a great game, Gran Turismo now needs to be experienced on next-gen.

As for Forza, they were so ahead of GT at Forza 4's launch, but it looks like major cuts in the size and scope, have been made to hit launch. I'll not own an Xbox One this year, but everything points to Forza 6 being the true next gen launch of the Forza franchise.

Its one thing rushing the game and providing the missing content for free but they will charge for them i can not see them being free

Lots of stuff didn't make it, but its still the only next Gen launch game worth getting excited about so there isn't much that is going to keep it out of my hands.

Game looks amazing tho

Content number is disappointing but I understand what their goal is and I'm glad they're taking that route and starting right from the start of the generation. I mean content modeling has basically reached the maximum in terms of details. I don't see much more that can be done than cars with everything modeled and laser scanned tracks accuracy wise...

What I don't understand is how some stuff didn't make the cut. Infineon and Hockenheim were already very details with imperfections, very good road feedback, etc... Beside, those two tracks were much more interesting than Catalunya for example.
Same with the latest FM4 DLC/FH/FH DLC cars, you'd think they'd have future proofed those when modeling them.

I just hope they have a plan to add back content which doesn't involve taking up several slots in car packs but I'm afraid we'll get shafted like in FH.

.........hows that working out with night and weather for Forza5? Because we heard that before.

Lots of interesting stuff in that Sessler interview I've just posted with Dan.

Goal will be to get on the podium now rather than win. With the new AI "shit happens" (says Dan) and you'll be battling to the line rather than hotlapping the field out in front. It also allows you to choose more different cars if you don't have to ensure you're going to win.

The subject of Car Tokens was raised. Apparently we're getting a load free at launch. So even if we hate the idea of paying for these things - we'll get some freebies so we can choose some cars free of the progression system.

A big plus one here. Some of the choices on the surface are bizarre, such as dropping relatively new tracks, yet upgrading tracks we've been playing since Forza1. And counting the test track and Top Gear track as proper track environments? lol.

But on the plus side, those beautiful photos with that dayum light! homerdrool.gif
