Forza 5 Showroom | New cars and details for Forza 5, ongoing reveals

I wonder if Forzavista is as big a problem as folks think.

If the cars were going to be modelled in this detail anyway the only difference is adding the points where doors and other parts of the car open. In terms of time spent on the car model and the damage for that model - is opening a few doors and hoods really going to add a huge amount of time?

I think you are seriously underestimating the work involved.
What about the engines, for starters?

At this point T10 should make a clear statement if the information about cars and tracks is final and includes tracks and cars that are included in day one download or is it only content on retail disc and they will announce day one update content later on as we get closer to release date.

We know they've been scanning at least Monza and Long Beach so that's two more tracks to look forward at some point in the future, be it in DLC form or in FM6. Nordschleife will probably make its come back too.

There are three tracks which I still can't comprehend why they're missing. Infineon and Hockenheim because they were already super detailed in FM4 and Maple Valley because it's been the most recognisable and one of the best fictional track of the series.

I just want the Nordschleife, Infineon, Hockenheim, Suzuka, Tsukuba, Camino Viejo and Maple Valley back ASAP.

14 tracks? Lol. Although you can't probably blame T10, you have to blame MS, also for the shitty DLC plans. That's a big f*ck-you to your fanbase.

Although sometimes quality>quantity, there just can't be an excuse for omitting some of the fans favorite tracks.

Road America and Maple Valley seem like massive omissions for a Forza game. I never in a million years thought these two wouldn't make FM5.
Just last night I was playing some GT5 in prep for GT6 to come. Its been a while. So I was just reacquainting myself with track layouts really and just enjoying the ride.

No bullshit, but last night as I was playing through those tracks like Trial Mountain and Deep Forest and Grand Valley I kept thinking how much I felt a track like Maple Valley was missing in GT5's set.

And just now I think that If I had been replaying Forza 4's tracks for the same reason I would be utterly crushed right now.

This is ridiculous, sorry T10. 4 years in the making and 14 tracks is all you could come up with ?

Even if you did remodel/remake them all from scratch (which you didn't, see Laguna Seca) that would be an incredibly low number.
Brand new racing franchises launching in the coming months (that couldn't rely on existing assets and had to build everything from scratch) have more than that. 14 is just not acceptable for today's standards.

The biggest complaint the series has been drawing is the number of tracks and your new game has like half the tracks of its predecessor ???
Far less than its main competitor, which also features a track creator ?

This is inexcusable. Either very poor resource management or milking the user base to unprecedented levels.

Hockenheim ? Infineon ? For god's sake, you just had to update the textures, replace those ugly trees with marginally less ugly looking ones and call it a day.

And 200 cars ? What happened to the other 460 you already had, modeled to great detail ?

The game looks amazing.
The most recent batch of pics and vids (compressed to hell and back and then back to hell and back again) looks great. It's great to see Prague again, looking good as ever (and it shows the feedback from the bumpy road surface is a lot better than it used to be) and the incredible lighting on Yas Marina and Sebring.

I have the console and game preordered and paid (actually, FM5 was free; preorder deal) but next time you'll have to show your cards and come clean.
Oh and you better deliver, because your joke was an expensive one and it will take some pretty epic effort on your side (and a shitton of free DLC) for gamers to trust you again.

I hope the surprise reveal is full Prague ribbon is a 15 miles epic drive, at this point but EH, somehow i doubt it.

Also, the super surprising reveal Saladine is hiding from us has something to do with the fact we saw the driver in a couple of those forzavista showroom pics and the garage door opening on what looks like a race track.

Why people keep repeating this?

There's a difference between starting to throw ideas and concepts and actual development time. I hightly doubt they were developing Forza 4 alongside with Forza 5, so I think two years would be more accurate.

Socrates or Plato? :p

And do people consider the Top Gear Track and Test circuit/ play area racing tracks? :/
I know they're individual environments to hoon about in, but how many of you have raced on them? So doesn't that make 12 tracks and two playground environments?

This will unequivocally be the best next-gen game launched next month.
It's just a real shame people will have to pay $200 to see the entire thing.

unless there is an extensive list of nextgen racing games with focus on realism that cvg knows of, and I've somehow missed....
I think that cvg comment means nothing outside of console wars cannon foder...

Which new franchise racing game has confirmed track numbers? This is news to me.

The biggest complaint the series has been drawing is the number of tracks and your new game has like half the tracks of its predecessor ???

I'm actually not familiar with that criticism of the series.

Hockenheim ? Infineon ? For god's sake, you just had to update the textures, replace those ugly trees with marginally less ugly looking ones and call it a day.

I'm not thrilled by the track-count, but I won't complain about a company not doing lazy updates for generational upgrades to a franchise for the sake of padding numbers. Based on the detail level we're seeing, what you're describing would have stood out in a jarring way, and I know I'd be personally annoyed seeing that.

I have the console and game preordered and paid (actually, FM5 was free; preorder deal) but next time you'll have to show your cards and come clean.

I completely agree about their next showing (FM6) had better have deep content expansion compared to this if the bar is being built to the same level. That said, I don't doubt that will happen. Also, this isn't a trust issue, considering this information is being trumpeted by them weeks before the game comes to market. I understand the frustration (very well), but to pretend buyers are being misled is off-base. Whether players buy DLC quite as enthusiastically as they have previously is something I agree their team had better keep in mind.

Also, unless Forza 4 came out a full four years ago, you're doing some creative exaggeration about this game being four years worth of dev effort to try to highlight the content figures.

Top Gear track, definitely.

Was any new footage shown today anywhere?

edit: and is KERS or DRS available on the E21?

nah :) just personal shit.

about the two tracks, it was mentioned earlier that somekind of silly props are placed in tgtt under a specific game mode or something?
as a racing environment they might suck, but maybe they can be good for a laugh or a gymkana or an open stig leaderboard challenge..

about total tracks, if my assumptions and predictions are not totally flawed, I expect we'll be getting more tracks waaay before we run the new ones to death. flick a buck, get a track thing

No way. Not on a 1:1 vs the ring, neither 1:2 vs suzuka + a choice of yourself.
its like they cut 27 tracks to add ...bathurst
AND WE DO KNOW WHO WE HAVE TO BLAME FOR THAT, DONT WE
sal? :D

As disheartening as today's car and track news has been, and make no mistake, it's been a straight-up shot to the nuts, some solace can be taken in the fact that what FM5 does include looks and sounds fairly incredible.

Case in point, this b-roll gameplay footage, (note: may contain filling-rattling sound).

Good as that shit is, I'll probably end up taking a wait-and-see approach to FM5, and will be closely reading the impressions of those of you in here who pick it up in a couple of weeks.
Don't make me give in!

Drugstore_cowboy, i think there is some new footage in this link.

Have a whole bunch of new Forza threads been created somewhere? This one is amazingly quiet considering it's jawdrop day in floodgate town.

You make a good point. I do not understand how smaller studios like people doing PCars can build more tracks and cars with less money and faster than T10 and PD.

Dan talking in some interesting detail about Drivatar - actually interesting this time, not cloud marketing.

Damn good interview.
Im quite excited about the Drivatars.......wait a minute 14 tracks?

Im having a hard time justifying buy an Xbox One for 14 tracks......I honestly dont mind the 200 cars thats not even an issue for me, but god damn it 14 tracks will get stale quick

I feel like they get lost in a toon of stupid content that does not really add that much to the experience.

Also the bigger you get the more stupid politics you have to suffer so that is also something that ends creating content a lot more dificult, scaling things as you get bigger is really a pain in the ass too many good companies fall on that.

I know it was asked a page ago, but do we know what content was pulled from the disc for them to offer as day one free DLC? Or are they deciding to charge for that now?

They should have launched with PGR but then that is in my dream world....
Oh absolutely! Loved that franchise so much more than Horizon. I've just lost all hope of it reappearing, just like Wipeout. Sob!
You guys. I love you guys.

Honestly should've gone with PGR5. A console without an exclusive arcade racer on (or near) launch is just stupid.
