This reminds me of pre-180s Microsoft, happy to retain just a portion of their previous audience as long as the audience they did keep was always online and more than willing to part with their cash for DLC.

Perfection. Gets my vote, and if you win I hope Helios sends you an Xbone and a copy of the game. Microsoft are gifting these to completely random Xbox Live subscribers, so since this mini competition has been officially sanctioned by Helios himself and given the Turn 10 stamp of approval I think it's the least they can do. Good PR and all that.
Nope, just the one preorder, well and truly cancelled with no prospect of reinstatement. The situation can be reviewed once pCARS hits next gen consoles this time next year and the FM5 GOTY is out for £19.99.

There won't be a GOTY version. Not now Horizon/Motorsport are on every other year cycles.

I'm very close to canceling my pre-orders for XBONE, Forza5 LE and Thrustmaster TX Wheel.
The first straw was having to replace my Forza branded CSRE Wheel and Clubsport pedals. Not to mention Thrustmaster doesn't even address basic Q's on PC compatibility, add-ons etc. 2 weeks from release!
The #Tracks is the final straw though as it's just too much of an investment to race on a couple of decent tracks. I wasn't planning on buying ANY DLC either way though.

There was a GOTY version of Forza 4 around the time that Horizon released.
It was crap though. It only included 21 DLC cars.
Same, it might not be perfect (nothing ever is) but I'm still very much looking forward to playing Forza.
Most of my "recent" console purchases have been for a racing game initially, and X1 is no different.

While the latest news were really disappointing, Forza still is my most wanted game releasing this holiday season and other launch titles interest me as well.
It's very unlikely that I'll be able to play GT6 due to my PS3's bluray drive not working anymore so I need my racing sim game fix this holiday too.

my style is not to wear fancy ties with zippers or equal stuff to look smart
so I guess you like that attention-whore gadget? hehe

I couldn't believe it when it happened several weeks ago. I was waiting for Beyond Two Souls and GT6, the last two PS3 exclusive that interested me... I just don't want to pay a new PS3 for those two games, not when I'm already paying for the next gen launch.
My (slim to none) hope is for a PSN release, I'd even be prepared to pay the full price for it, just to play it but I don't think it'll ever happen.
I also need to check if a fat PS3 bluray drive would work in my Slim as I know someone who has a YLOD fat PS3 with a working bluray drive...
Anyway the Alps replay footage looks incredible, and that's in poorly compressed YouTube form, I can't wait to see it live on my TV.

Maybe. They just put God of War Ascension up on PSN recently and that thing is fucking huge. 35-37GB but of course you need 80GB free.
They're about to launch next gen (next fucking friday, how crazy is that?!) where everything is going to be available for download, and all of it HUGE.
Maybe, hopefully, a PSN release is not that crazy a thought.

I honestly dug it. My girl really enjoyed playing it too. I am surprised by the negativity surrounding it. I thought it was an interesting story done in an interesting way.

I can sort of get the disappointment with the track list announcement, but I just spent around 100 hours playing Forza 2's career last month, and I'm only approximately halfway done. That's a game with just 12 unique track environments, and Forza 5 is a launch title.
I guess keeping my expectations in check was the right thing to do.

Yeah there's no doubt we'll get hours of enjoyment out of it.
My expectations of the feeling of tyres on track is what needs to be kept in check right now. Can't judge physics and handling from videos but what we've seen so far looks way ahead of F4.

On a scale of 1-14, how good would you say?
I'm keeping my ear to the ground. I wasn't going to be an early adopter just because of the cost of the platform and my current-gen backlog (which is unfortunately quite large), but I want to play this game more than most other next-gen titles. It honestly looks incredible in its attention to detail and handling, so seeing how well it reviews both technically and as a game will nudge my expectations in a way that I'll probably love it when I do get going with a career runthrough.
I also want to see how Turn10 reacts to people's concerns about the amount of content juxtaposed with the paid DLC being offered so early on. If this news had come earlier, I feel like people's reactions would have been more measured. Obviously this isn't like hiding it until the 11th hour, but for some people it probably feels that way. Statements from this point on will have special weight. Heck, even just more information about the features in the game would at least let people get a sense of what's being offered, outside of the "sticker shock" of seeing lower than expected content figures.

Pretty sure i had a case of Stockholm syndrome with Mugello.
Seeing that PCars doesn't have the true track surfaces for every track, you can't really compare the two physics wise for the time being. I don't know that they'll go through the trouble/cost of getting the real surfaces on the tracks throughout PCars.
i would have to play forza 5 first to compare!
