Guerrilla art director says the studio was ‘done with’ Killzone, prefers working on Horizon

I loved the multiplayer on KZ3 soooooooooooooooooooooo much. Tactician with the spawn grenade, I was actually turning tides on losing matches I joined. And that chirp was so damn satisfying! I wish I could play KZ3 multiplayer again, even on PC.

Time to refresh the palette again make a gritty shooter?

I'm not being funny but honestly I could do with some doom and gloom shooter.

Cool, I respect the move away from Killzone, nothing should outstay its welcome, but...Horizon? It's just not my cup of tea at all. I wish they had gone a different direction.

I like the robo-animal design of Horizon and I think it's far more interesting than Helghast. But they seriously need to spice up the writing of the third game. Or lose the committee they seem to have used to this point to not offend anyone. The story is so uninteresting that it feels like drinking tasteless milk.

Time to refresh the palette again, in that case. Though honestly, in today’s age, the FPS industry would’ve been ripe for another Killzone with both Battlefield and Halo being in a rebuilding state, and COD not having a competitor at the moment. DOOM is its own thing. We’ve seen what happened with Space Marine 2; people want bombastic and gruff action games again.

Though unfortunately, with how expensive AAA video games are to make these days, I’m sure the bean counters at PlayStation would absolutely scoff at the idea of something that isn’t a 3rd person, over the shoulder, open world/semi open world, action adventure cinematic narrative.

Surely they've generated way more Horizon content than Killzone. I mean Zero Dawn's map easily swallows the entire KZ franchise in every measure (map, character assets, etc). I was surprised by how good Zero Dawn was when it came to Steam and I'll give the new one a shot when I catch on sale for sure, but I'd love to see GG move on to another IP. The Horizon aesthetic and visual design doc don't do it for me whatsoever. I was an independent, evangelical KZ2 shill machine before and during its launch. I'd love to be really hyped for a new game of theirs.

Fair enough, can you be done with Horizon though now? It would be good to see something a bit different using the technology.

They've only made 2 Horizon games. They probably will refresh after Horizon 3 comes out. By then, we'd probably have 1 or 2 seasons of the Horizon TV out lol
