Ok, here is one thing I just do not understand.

Blackwing Corrupter Battlecry onto Mad Scientist triggers Mirror Entity...how? That makes zero sense. I think I have bitched about this before but whyyyyyy. I'm the one playing Tempo Mage and whenever I see it happen I still go "Wow that's really stupid"

It kind of makes sense, but it's not intuitive at all. The way it works is: battlecries hit the board before your minion does. So, the Corrupter deals 3 damage to the Mad Scientist, the Mad Scientist dies and immediately summons Mirror Entity, then the Corrupter's body hits the field and gets copied.

Just had first 12 win arena run. From match 3 to 10 (including both losses) were straight Paladins. 11th was a mage, and 12th was a Warrior of all classes. #NotAllArenaWarriors.

Also, someone in this thread was right, Rogue is fun for arena.

Imp-losion Shredder for 4.

Unstable Ghoul pops out.

1.0

With the death of Grim Patron deck coming up I decided to make a Ball of Spiders board flood Hunter deck.

It's also using Sea Giant + Volcanic Drake + King of Beasts + Acidmaw! I might even try Scavenging Hyena.

I like ball of spiders and I think it is underrated. Unfortunately I don't have acidmaw which I think will really make it work.

But I'll be interested to see how you go. Snake trap and hyena is a must.

Esport cards are the only 'excitement' the game has for viewers, it can't be helped and there is going to be more and more of them each set.

I'm convinced Varian is not good, I put it in a dragon warrior deck and still sits in my hand never played :\

Maybe he makes sense in a taunt warrior deck, I like to try that and I have all the warrior taunt cards now, not sure if there is any list. no hobgoblin though, dusted those a while back...

I need like 100 more wins to get a golden warrior and I can't quite make a CW deck yet, just like 4000 dust short :\

It's not live yet, why would people stop?

Get some send-off wins in before the patch.

Varian has underperformed and I was super excited for him, but given a few more expansions and a deck that relies less heavily on battlecries, I still think he will be amazing one day.

As it is, he can instantly win you the game or lose it if he barfs out Shieldmaiden or Alex in a control matchup. If you aren't up against control and he pulls Shieldmaiden, Alex and Boom...well the game is over. He probably could be good in a Taunt deck, Sludge Belcher is pretty great if he gets pulled.

Oh and he is terrible if he is in the last 5 cards of your deck.

Yeah, I'm glad I crafted him and still have him in my CW deck, but definitely not as useful as I originally hoped. He's won some games for me for sure, but there's plenty of times I have to hold on to him because my owl or Justicar still haven't been drawn and I don't want to lose the battlecry. One fatigue game I ran into against a Priest he was my last card and I couldn't use him at all or I would have lost.

The time I popped 2 sludge belchers and Ysera though was pretty awesome. Guy insta-conceded

Crafted golden Varian but realized I hate playing CW in this shitty meta

70 wins to golden Warrior

Patron was slam+executed

Now all I play is Casino Mage until I cry myself to sleep

It worked out decent enough, I got quite a few wins. But it stills plays like a slower Midrange Hunter list.

Ball of Spiders is still really expensive and it's really only good when you are ahead on the board.

but casino mage is so much fun, looking at my stats, my deck is at 47% win rate which could be better, but I honestly enjoy playing it (wish I had DO YOU REQUIRE MY ASSISTANCE though....)

Wouldn't putting spellbender in casino mage be really strong right now? It would adsorb Kings from all these paladins.

Varian has fallen out of the meta a bit with the rise of armor/fatigue style warrior, but I had a lot of fun with him while I was working on golden warrior after TGT.

The key, for me, was play a lot of minions that don't have battlecry. Stuff like belchers, sneeds, ysera, baron geddon, ragnaros Troggzor were great. If any of these get pulled from Varian you get value either way.

I had people add me after games to say Troggzor was bad, but it was always after they lost. Of course Dr. Boom is better, but the benefit of Troggzor is pulling him out of Varian for free and he is really good that way.

Yeah, unfortunately it has always been this way and probably always will be. It has to do with the order of operations with secrets coming in before minions hit the board or whatever. I've just come to accept this is how that mechanic works. And I think sometimes getting my agent copied is okay because when it doesn't go off I know its not mirror and then likely counterspell. If it is, then a 3/3 is a weak mirror entity anyway.

Rogue isn't viable for me anymore. :c Thinking about hitting the Druid route. The cheap deck on IcyVeins isn't very good so far....

Midrange druid isn't going to be very good in new aggressive meta. People mostly play that aggro druid deck which also isn't all that good either, it had the surprise factor on its side earlier but it's just too slow in general outside of some really stupid dream hand and still dies to other aggro. I don't think you want to switch to druid. Zoo I feel will be pretty good all around or of course paladin.

Even midrange paladin goes face like an idiot and doesn't trade when the only way for me to win is force roar combo since he is at 29 hp, it's like secret paladin corrupted the whole class.

Not really, players are just getting better all around and discovering that there's no reason to trade on your turn if the other side is forced to do it for you.

That's just how Hearthstone works, as dictated by the Infallible Benjamin Brodius, He Of The Great Mirth.

Face is truly the place.

If you never trade you give your opponent more options, sometimes an option ultimately wins the game. Knowing when to trade and when to shorten your opponent's clock is a very important skill. Not sure why you disagree with that, but the game is not always about trading for value and that is fine.

This is actually a well curated rulebook, and includes all known oddities, exceptions, and bugs.

In general, you can expect events in hearthstone to happen like this:

There is good trades and bad trades. If I have a 3-2 out and he is a paly and throws out a knife juggler on turn 2, I will trade even if it is not always the best because I always assume he will muster of battle the next round. I think you just start to know what the best trades are the more you go against a certain deck. I used to lose against handlock all the time because I just faced and faced and never learned the deck

How can you read this?

Just had an arena game where my opponent sat there not playing the game watching the rope burn every turn until I won. I know they were not AFK or disconnected because of the cards and portraits being highlighted all the time. It was a 2-0 matchup so not even about saltiness.

Is "casino mage" Tempo Mage? That's been incredibly strong for me lately, so I can see why people would be playing it now, but I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing a new deck.

It's a variant of tempo Mage with a little more rng in the form of spellslinger and maybe nexus champion saraad.

Yes. Often has Spellslingers for extra game winning RNG.

Yes. Casino is built on the tempo idea (strong, low curve with good mileage/mana + antonidas win condition), but generally replaces consistency for RNG (effects which play in favor of the mage because spells are usually better for mage, particularly because of mana worm and sorc apprentice).

In general I find most people define casino mage as tempo mage with spellslingers and effigy.

How can you read this?

The rulebook itself or the chart? The chart reads in numerical order, in that events resultant of an initiating event necessarily need resolve before the initiating event may resolve and allow subsequent, separate events to trigger. It happens for all things in hearthstone, the important part is understanding what defines event states. The most commonly seen practical demonstration of nested events is the fire-elemental-battlecry-hits-mad-scientist-plays-mirror-entity-fire-elemental-enters-battlefield-procs-mirror-entity interaction.

I meant the chart. Thanks for explaining it.

turn 2 knife juggler
turn 3 muster for battle (the 1-1s got whirlwind'd)
turn 4 blessing of kings on juggler
turn 5 loatheb (juggler got executed, dude used execute as a 6 mana lol)
turn 6 top deck MC

i basically had a game like that perfect curve brawl from last week.

Pretty much the way I've been beating Paladins with shaman...they go face face face and maybe clear with consecration if they have it. Still a tough match up, but they are either bots or stupid. I am a shaman. I have insane burst. Do not let my minions survive LOL

The Patron nerf isn't live yet right?

I'd like to play this weekend, but I'm worried it's gonna be all over ladder since it's the last chance to play the deck.

Not live yet. I haven't seen it very much at rank 5..mostly mages and paladins, but there are a still people playing it.

I just got the "Everyone Get In Here" daily.

It brought a smile to my face.

Looks to be fun weekend of Hearthstone on twitch coming up:

Starladder is starting in about 40 minutes (15:00 CEST):

Dog vs Orange
Stancifka vs ThijsNL
Dog vs Cipher
Kolento vs Orange

Then at 18:00 CEST is the 2nd Play it Cool Ladder Marathon:

Competing Streamers
Sebastian “Forsen” Fors
Savjz “Savjz” Mikkonen
Andrey “Reynad” Yanyuk
James “Firebat” Kostesich

Losing because someone got a Mogor off a Portal feels like shit. Every single one of my attacks got redirected and his minions all attacked the right target.

"With Portal, sometimes you just win the game". Why am I still playing this shit game

play casino mage yourself then. i'm saving dust to get antonidas. the only legendaries i've pulled are malygos, ysera, and i crafted boom, but i feel like archmage will add the most fun to a class than any neutral really would since casino mage adds a lot of randomness which honestly makes games fresh and unique vs same old thing over and over (thats what i hated about patron tbh it was effective but not really fun imo)
