Please tell me you're joking and that it's just because of work you're hooking it up to that monitor today...
No mate, it’s where I’ve had my PS5 plugged in since release. Can’t be arsed with the hassle of sharing TVs with the kids & missus.

Don’t fear though, I’m swapping the PS5 out for a Switch OLED this month, I just need to find somewhere to stick an extra 4k TV in the house that no one else can use for my PS5 :messenger_tears_of_joy:

5 hours and I just got to Chainscrape. Found a heap of loot, climbed some towers and rescued some miners. This game is gonna take over my life for sure.

Oh, and that Strike tutorial was amazing. Explained perfectly.

I mean, you have to put down all the pins with a ball, how hard can it be?!

Usually I'd just turn on 60 fps mode and carry on when the option is there.

But maaan, the visual differences between resolution and performance modes are huge to me.

I am legit considering playing at 30 fps it looks so much better.

I would love to see them patch in a 40 fps like Ratchet and Clank had.

Get that TV sorted ASAP.

Good god….this is a remarkable upgrade from the 1st game. The 3D positional audio is really great along with the haptics.
Very very impressed. No pop in or gfx bugs thus far. Someone mentioned that it doesn’t feel like 30fps but much higher. I’d disagree with that. It does feel like 30fps so far, but very playable.

Hey all, really need some help here. I started playing horizon forbidden west, but I'm having a hard time enjoying it right now due to this one issue.

For some reason, when I move the camera around, while in motion the grass looks green as it should. But when I stop the camera from moving and leave it still, everything gets a lot lighter, like a white undertone. If I shake the camera fast, it's seizure inducing almost. Like..... I don't want to go through that on a game.

I tried messing with in game settings, ps5 settings, and my TV settings and nada. However, the one thing I found is that for some odd reason, switching to performance mode either does not do it, or it's much lesser that my eyes can't catch it.

On video 1 below you see me switching to performance mode, and in person I didn't see it happening, even if the phone had catch something

Anyhow, why is this happening? Any possible fix?

Why would changing graphics mode have something to do with this potentially? I was kinda hoping to play this in resolution mode.

But overall, it's really disheartening, I want to be able to enjoy this game. I went back to things like miles morales and cold war, and I don't see anything quite like this. Never seen anything like it until this game

Ps: my TV is the TCL 55R646, I've played all sorts of games here including 120hz games with no issue

A lot of people are complaining about this. Is it an HDR issue? Could you try disabling HDR just to see if it’s still there? In the name of GAF science.

Not home right now, and don't have a recording of it, but I did turn off hdr last night and the issue persisted. I tried all sorts of things, turn off hdr in game, mess with the in game hdr settings, messed with ps5 4k bitrate settings, turn off settings in my TV like local contrast etc, nada

The graphics mode thing almost makes me feel like it might be a fps/pixel issue somehow?

Someone else earlier said the game applies sharpening in 4K30 fps mode, maybe this a symptom of that.

I think some of you guys may need to start a new thread, rather than bogging down this one with your technical issues. I don’t know what to suggest, other than changing some of your TV settings - HDR on/off, sharpness down etc., It appears it is not happening to everyone, which suggests it is not an issue with the game itself.

EDIT: could it be something to do with the HDMI lead/port being used?

that happened to me too ( TCL QLED here ) but only on quality mode, what i did to mitigate the problem was.

1- playing on Perf mode fix the problem.

2 - For Res mode turn down TV sharpeness to 0 and turn off Dinamic Contrast.

Every game should have RnC's 40fps mode tbh, it's a game changer, really is. Keep the fidelity but stops it feeling like a piece of shit to play.
Also, VRR Sony, ffs.

I did turn down sharpness to 0 and it helped, and I already had dynamic contrast off, and it was still there. It looks like performance mode would have to be for now, or wait for a patch. Any explanation as to why this could be impacted by graphics modes?

Please make sure to use HGIG on this game if your tv supports it and turn off dynamic contrast,

PS5 black level auto TV auto, while game is running turn deep color off and back on again and turn HDR back on as well IN SYSTEM SETTINGS.

Anyone have weird visuals when using Fidelity mode?

If the camera stands still the image gets really sharp/bright and washed out, almost like HDR gets disabled while standing still

The moment I turn the camera it starts to look less sharp but the colors are more vibrant

This effect isn’t as noticeable in Performance mode…wtf is this? Is this normal? Also seem to pick up what appears to be some screen tearing too
Did you check your TV settings and made sure theres no motions smoothness active?

No clube, try to turn off local dimming too, on my TV is 90% better after i did those changes.

Sharpeness 0
D. Contrast Off
Local Dimiing Off

Tried it, still persisted. Might have to stick to performance mode for now. But I really wanted resolution, as performance is much blurrier

Yep, this. No clue what this is all about. Is this well known about this game? Like, I feel like people need to know to see if it gets patched
First thing I would do is use the capture button on the PS5. Watch the video somewhere else to see if it's still there. If it is then that eliminates any TV settings as the culprit.

Maybe the game is doing some over-post processing to stand-still image (possibly over sharpening) ?

Looks like classic VA panel. Maybe something else wrong in your tv settings but this is for 100% VA ghosting....

This, actually along with some others, was the same problem I had until I took Aaron Olive Aaron Olive 's advice and disabled hdr deep color on my TV, then re-enabled it, which required a restart of both my TV and PS5. It looks amazing now and that weird brightness issue while moving the camera went away.

I see the deep color option on my ps5, not the TV itself, the TV auto switches to HDR 10 once it finds the signal, but maybe I have to keep digging. I'll try to turn it off in the PS5 settings and see what happens

Edit : still weird that it persist even when you turn off hdr in game tho

You need to turn on GAMING mode in the picture preset. Something sick is going on with the game and TVs where the other modes are just wrong. Never happened on another game and it stinks because I'm not a fan of GAME mode on my TV (exact same one as yours).

Each TV manufacturer has a different name for it, at Samsung they call it signal plus. It's basically a toggle so the HDMI port can use the full bandwidth I think.

The above was recorded while already in the game mode preset of my TV, I only ever game on game mode

I see the issue you have, but it’s just the way resolution mode renders, it’s less pronounced on performance mode. It isn’t a problem much once you past the intro. also Guerrilla needs to talk with insomniac for that temporal injection math formula cause performance mode is vaseline on a big screen.

I'm playing on a PS4 and it's hard to describe how beautiful the game is at times, I can only imagine on a PS5. The level of detail is something to behold, the mountains and vistas are absolutely incredible, the character models and most of the animation on them are also fantastic, some of the NPC's you talk to on random side quests look almost lifelike.

It's the new benchmark of presentation, no doubt.

I also forgot how addicting it is to loot and upgrade stuff in Horizon.

I have pretty much a top of the line PC one can buy, only my GPU at a 10GB RTX 3080 is the weakest part, including a 4K 1ms 144MHz monitor, and the visuals in this game on my PS5 and old 4K TV at times are beyond anything I've seen. If anyone was wondering if this game truly ushers in the current gen guess no longer. It's remarkable what they pulled off with this hardware at times. I keep stopping just to look at scenery. And again, this is as a graphics whore with a PC and monitor combo that would set you back $4k

are u sure ur sharpness is set to 0 on the HDMI port that u are using ? Try change HDMI port, what TCL do u have ?
It wasn't, then I changed it to 0, it DID help, but was still there

My tcl is the new one, tcl 55r646. The 2021 version with 40/120hz, vrr etc

An hour in and it does feel like more Horizon, a good thing, however its had a few glitches and weird things happen to me already, not a great sign.

It does feel kinda outdated compared to some other games out now, for example the Uncharted games and Assassins Creed, I dunno the climbing feels very PS3 era right now

on PS5

Help, I'm still stucked in the tutorial area due to stopping every few seconds to admire every detail put into this game. The visuals, the animations, the haptics, the soundtrack, the 3D Audio and etc
100% same lol. I didn't realize how much I'd missed this world til I was back in it tbh.

I really can't see all these graphics improvements that everyone is going on about apart from the character models. Aloy looks like she has rosacea now. But the environments, the machines, they don't look much different to Horizon ZD to me.

Anyone else playing with Headphones? The Sound mixing is pretty bad on the 3D Pulses, Aloy sounds almost robotic and the Music and SFX are a lot louder than the voices
