Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered | Review Thread

I have no idea what you’re talking about or seeing here dude. You can control the camera. Nothing seems out of place here.

So when you play a game, usually the camera is locked to one side of the screen. In this game, the camera is dynamic and it changes from left to right, so sometimes Aloy is in the right side of the screen or left depending of how you move the camera, its pretty weird but once you see it its really jarring and unconfortable. If you look online, this was a big complain for many people on steam, reddit and so on. Lucky you that you dont noticed it or dont bother you

The camera is not centered, there is always an offset and it constantly switches from left to right. It can be annoying without an option to lock it.

She’s always on the left for me 🤷🏻‍♂️

You sure you aren’t getting this mixed up with Alan Wake 1? 😂

If it didn't need a remaster, why would it need a review thread?
so what is different about this game compared to original, I finished the original back in 2017, is this going to offer a different experience?

its just visual bump, it's nice but it also hasn't changed the game in any way.

we just need a DF style vid saying if it's up to scratch or if it has issues.

Nothing is different game wise. It just looks closer to the visual quality of Forbidden West. The load times are better, the haptics are great and there’s more accessibility options.

No Easy Loot though.

One thing I was afraid would be brought over was her more thickness and rosacea

Thankfully not the case

I don't think it's needed, due to how the weapon economy works in ZD. You need either "cores" or "hearts", that's just RNG. No specific parts to remove from an enemy.

Totally true. Just figured I’d mention since it’s pretty much the only option that’s missing from what was carried over from FW.

Hated the sequel and in fact couldn’t make it past 7 hours. Loved the first so for 10 bucks to revisit the beautiful world sounds like a decent deal. I’m just done with the if it could be called franchise. Feel like Horizon should have been a one and done. Awesome mystery and cool combat in a gorgeous world but it seems Sony wants to shove this series up gamers asses. I miss Killzone.

opps my bad , i was posting in the wrong thread for SOTDR video

regarding the remastered version , i bought HZD Deluxe Edition back in 2017 at launch day price but felt betrayed and angry when it was given away digitally free in 2021

anger is gone over the years and now i am happy that the upgrade is just $12 if i have a ps5

I can't believe I'm actually writing this but...
I'm actually thinking of giving them the tenner since, in retrospect, I actually enjoyed the 1st game WAY more than the 2nd which I found to be a bloated, boring, uninteresting mess.

Maybe it's the nostalgia talking but I really enjoyed it back in the day since i found the story to be especially intriguing.

Btw, does the game version which was given for free on PSN 2-3 years ago work with the upgrade path ?

Game is awesome and is stunning and runs great on the PS5 on resolution mode. Started with balanced but then switched to resolution which looked better and seemed to run similar. Sadly, I'm gonna wait for the Pro before I really dig into this.

No wonder Sony keeps releasing remasters judging by here. I can't believe the sentiment here actually. Not debating whether the game is good or not.

Just shocked to see time after time.

I guess at $10 it doesn't matter so much, but other releases are alot more and get lapped up every time.

yeah look for $10 i'm prob gonna grab it myself.

I just don't really understand the point of reviews for a product that has 0 changes besides visuals.

Shocked to see a much loved game that gets a remaster and only costs a tenner is liked by people?

Just ResilientBanana ResilientBanana , apparently, considers having a (flawless) 30fps Fidelity mode along with a (flawless) 60fps Performance, the first also playable at 40fps and the second unlockable and reaching much higher framerate, as being "full of performance issues".. for some reason.
Didn’t realize it had 30fps mode. The video compared a smooth 60 up against 30. Why would anyone do that?

I do agree with this though, its pointless reviewing it really, its still the same game just graphically updated which was a high point in the original anyway, handy to know there are no major issues or anything but it doesnt need a score

Just started replaying. I'm a bit torn between balanced and performance - I may stick with balanced, just for the bling.

The opening cinematic (which is no longer pre-rendered) still bothers me a bit. Yes, seeing so many Tallnecks together is visually impressive, it just makes no sense from a lore POV.

So one thing Nixxes didn't fix is the positional audio, or lack thereof, for NPC voices. It was an odd thing originally, the surround mix is otherwise good but the NPC voices seem to only come out of the center channel, and it remains the same. A minute detail, but annoying.

Ok that's good. I was confused why he was suggesting worst performance.

So as there is no OT, and I doubt there will be, I'll continue my random musings in this thread.

It's so refreshing not to see any FSR artifacts. FSR has been the bane of my existence this console generation, and to quote Mr. Horse, "no sir, I don't like it".

That's not to say there would be no checkerboarding artifacts, but they are much less distracting. If anything, I hope there'd be like a softening filter applied, even with possible loss of fidelity. But at any rate, at least on PS5, the game looks the best it ever has. And it still remains a looker. Also the haptics are a very nice addition.
