C. Better than the PlayStation showcase, not quite as good as Xbox. Bunch of ports, remakes and slapcrap anime games. I will likely play Metroid. Surprised to see the Marvel Vs Capcom collection. Also might get the NES world championship to show these kids how it's done.

C at the most. This showcase was not very good imo, I am surprised by people giving it A's and B's. Where is switch 2? If any other company had a show with a bunch of remasters and franchise spinoffs/sequels that have progressed 0% graphically and gameplay-wise in a decade they'd get destroyed. Feels like they're just trading on nostalgic loyalty to these IPs.

Hope I'm wrong and MP4 is a BOTW esque leap from the previous titles, but as a show this did not sell me at all.

You have yourself to blame if you were expecting Switch 2. It was said very specifically that Switch 2 would not be there. We had that information since early May.

It was a B, but only if you like RPGs. There was a lot of them this time, which I am thrilled about.

Holy shit! A fully 3D Romancing SaGa 2 remake! I still can't get over that.

I knew it was unlikely but I was hoping that MP4 would be a clear showcase of switch 2 capabilities if there was no proper switch 2 stuff - or that they would show off whatever Mario game they had in the works.

It somehow ended up being both as expected and not expected. On the one hand, a new Mario Party, something small Zelda related, a GC or Wii remaster, and maybe a short Metroid Prime 4 teaser to top it off is what I presumed would happen. And that was exactly what happened! Except the Zelda thing was a completely brand new game that seems to be fusing the open tool-based approach of BotW with puzzley overworld. Wasn't expecting that. And definitely didn't expect yet another Mario RPG. That's three in the span of 12 months?

So in that sense, it was a lot more than expected. After the first half of the year had nothing original except Princess Peach, they are trying more than I thought they would with Mario & Luigi and Zelda. So that's cool. Unfortunately for me, as someone who doesn't care for RPGs, the third party segments were not very interesting. I think the OMI Metroidvania looking game was the only one that caught my attention. OK, Phantom Brave might be nice. I like tactical RPGs. But sadly very few pleasant surprises in the filler section for me.

But on the flip side, Metroid Zero Mission is out today and my NSO subscription ends in another month or so. So that made me very happy. I've got my problems with that game, but I haven't played it in like 20 years now so being able to play it without needing to pay for NSO again makes this direct good enough for me.

It's probably blasphemous for me to say, but Zero Mission is my favorite Metroid game. Apologies to Super Metroid in advance.

If it wasn't for Metroid, I'd say a 'C' for sure--LOTS of remakes and re-releases (what...seven if I counted correctly?) But with Metroid 4, B.

However--why announce Metroid 4 and not release info on the remakes for Metroid Prime 2 and 3? Hell, the direct was chock full of remakes--two remakes that people actually are asking for wouldn't be bad...

Anyway, this was still streets ahead of Sony's recent craptacular State of Play...but not better than Microsoft's stellar showing.

Solid B. DQ3 remake (and possibly 1&2 if they turn out good), Donkey Kong Country returns & Luigi's Mansion 2(never played them before), Fantasian and MP4 are all games I'm interested in. It's great to see Nintendo supporting the Switch like there is no tomorrow.

No lies. Both MS and Nintendo showed the games their fans wanted. The Sony presentation was (apart from the new Astrobot game) a huge disappointment in that regard. I hope that Sony is going to finally show their upcoming games during the PS5 Pro presentation.

DQ 1-3, Fantasian, Zelda where you play as Zelda, Metroid Prime 4, Ace Attorney Investigations. That's a solid A from me.
This and Mahvel! Only reason I gave a B was that I like to see release dates and the games I'm most excited about didn't have them, but it was a great showing. I'd give it a B+ really, stoked about these games.

"D" the much rumoured, F-Zero GX reboot failed to show up, that as well as no new Starfox or Wave-Race, these titles would get me to seriously getting a nintendo console again, after skipping the Wii, Wii U generation..

I would give it a B. They packed a decent amount into a 45 minute show.

Metroid Prime 4 finally being revealed had me fanboying. It looks absolutely stunning given the hardware and it's running at 60fps. In portable mode it's going to look insanely good, like Metroid Prime Remastered.

I was slightly disappointed we aren't getting MP2 and 3 remasters for the Switch, even just as barebones HD ports like the Pikmin games, but there is time between now and MP4's release for that to happen.

Mario & Luigi: Brothership I am skeptical about as Mario RPG has dropped the ball for years. This did look like a step above the last games and the art style is beautiful. I hope Miyamoto is not involved at all.

Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D was a personal highlight and i'm thrilled that the first two games are getting the same treatment next year. THIS is how you do a retro era remake.

Donkey Kong Country Returns HD looks to be the definitive version of the game. No more shitty waggle or awful 3DS framerate.

Personally do not care for Super Mario Party.

The new Legend of Zelda looks like a fun enough spin-off although I was hoping more for an Oracle of Ages/Seasons remake. I guess it's something new, and playable Zelda should finally shut Resetera up (and is hopefully not a slippery slope to her replacing Link).

Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection looks amazing but these collections often have some critical flaw like too much input lag or bad netcode. Hopefully a competent porting company like M2 are handling it, then it could be perfect.

Fantasian breaking free form the shackles of Apple Arcade is excellent news. I've wanted to play it for years as a Mistwalker fan and seeing the incredible backgrounds they created.

Ace Attorney Investigations Collection is exciting for finally letting me play the sequel officially in English and because it looks like we will now be able to play every Ace Attorney game on the Switch via all these collections Capcom have pumped out. I just hope it's building towards a new game releasing soon.

The rest... could take or leave.

Why a B? Maybe it's generous but I think some perspective is needed. This is year 7 of the Switch and likely the final one before Switch 2 comes out. And yet Nintendo are still filling out the year with content - granted, some of that is now remasters and ports, but they are being handled quite well. I don't think the system has had an off year since it released - i've not seen a system just this consistent and without any major software droughts since the PS2. Nintendo deserve all the praise and sales numbers for one of the greatest systems of all time.

C for me.

Prime looks decent, but that trailer sucked and the game was announced years ago. Zelda game is a Zelda game, but seemingly without a number of the things that makes a Zelda game fun? So... not great.

Brotherhood looks okay-ish.

I give it higher-than-normal marks (typically I consider Nintendo shows around a D) for only a few things they mention which I'm really into -- the Capcom fighting game collection I'm into, the Metal Slug game, and the additions to their emulator consoles.

Everything else... big ole meh, from me.

Mario and Luigi Brotherhood looks like a beautiful return to the franchise that we haven't seen in nearly a decade.

Nintendo World Championships is what I expected out of the last year of the Nintendo Switch's lifespan. A cute, simple retro inspired bite sized challenge release like the NES Remix games. Excited for it, but it isn't a system seller.

FANTASIAN Neo Dimension - probably the ONLY good mobile game and its finally coming to consoles. So beyond hyped. Easily a must buy for anyone who loves JRPGs.

Farmagia looks like an interesting Rune Factory meets Pikmin style game. Definitely interested in seeing this one a bit more!

DKReturns is still one of the greatest platformers ever made. A must play and a switch release was long needed.

DQ 1-3 HD2D remakes - easily the biggest announcement for me personally. Beyond excited and DQ3 looks better than any other 2D HD title by a country mile. A strong art direction goes farther than graphical fidelity.

Metal Slug Attack Reloaded looks fantastic, but I am a sucker for anything Metal Slug.

Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero - never thought we would see a return of Phantom Brave, but I am all for it. Looks absolutely fantastic.

MvC Fighting Collection - some of the best arcade games of all time in a single pack? Hell fucking yes.

Super Mario Party Jamboree - looks like the first new Super Mario Party game since the Gamecube days that looks genuinely fantastic.

LoZ: Echoes of Wisdom - Looks amazing. Zelda gameplay, unique puzzle solving befitting her role as the holder of the triforce of wisdom, while using that gorgeous link's awakening artstyle. I am all in.

Ace Attorney Investigations Collection - Some of the best games in the Ace Attorney franchise including one that most folks never got a chance to play in the west. Absolutely hyped for this release.

Hundred LIne Last Defence Academy - looks like a super cool strategy game with a danganronpa twist. Dangan 1-3 are some of my all time favorite VNs so if they can get the narrative here on point, I will be excited. Just don't fuck it up with awful localization.

Romancing Saga 2 remake - Looks absolutely gorgeous. An interesting change to alter the combat system in the way they had.

Metroid Prime 4 Beyond - Its metroid prime 4. What more needs to be said? It looks as strong as the last 3 which were already considered some of the best games in the genre while having a unique twist that few attempted since.

Amazing set of games, by far more than Xbox's Racist DEI nonsense or Sony's limp presentation.

For me it was 35+ minutes of mostly noise, but at least they finally showed a little tiny bit of MP4. Which was definitely a tad underwhelming, I honestly thought it was a remaster of MP2 or 3 for the first few seconds. But still. I have to give them a B for that just on principal.

There were a couple of nuggets in there. I'll probably pick up DQ 1-3 HD. Honestly would have preferred WW/TP HD over Zelda Finally Gets Her Own Game, but I'll still play it, and I'm sure I'll enjoy it. I'm just not "into it."

The age of the console is so hard to ignore now. It's not even the level of graphics, it's the barren lands and empty worlds. Mario and Luigi as the most interesting thing to me. Metroid 4 looked disappointing to me.

C overall.

C for me.
Honestly better than I expected but nothing particularly exciting for me. Finally seeing Prime 4 is cool I guess but it's sort of diminished by the fact It was one of the games I bought a Switch for and now it's probably going to be a cross gen game so I can play the gimped version on Switch or shell hour 300-400 for a new device.

C because of Metroid and Mario and Luigi

Zelda looked mildy interesting, but i still haven't finished Tears of the Kingdom lol

i expected to see a Fire Emblem remake, Zelda Wind Waker, Twilight Princess Metroid Prime 2 HD and even a Star Fox remaster to appear, with all the leakers going bananas

Ironically they claimed Prime 4 was unlikely to appear in the Direct because it wasn't going to be released this year

So im happy to finally see Metroid Prime 4 , but i was also expecting way more announcements from this Direct because of the leakers now i think February next year is gonna be the good one

Solid B. Lots of cool games were showed off. Plus most of them are coming to ps4/5 so I don't have to actually play them on the switch.
