Thanks - I actually read the edit incorrectly and didn't realize the coupon was still available.
So it's been a while since I had a PC and need some guidance. I think I might jump in on this offer, but I have a few questions:
- I-7600 or I-7600K? Is it worth it for the upgrade?
- I want an SSD with the HHD second drive. Is getting a 256GB SSD too small or should I go with the 500GB? Is the idea that I run most of the graphically intensive games from the SSD and the HDD is for main storage?
- Planning on going with the 980ti...is there any reason I should shoot lower?
- Is 24GB of memory going to be enough, or for primarily running games am I going to get appreciable benefit from 32GB?
- I'm passing on the monitors available here because I'll either buy one separately or use this as a TV + VR rig. Any recommendations for monitors with this setup?
This thread isn't super active so I'll answer to the best of my abilities and from the research I did.
* I think the consesus was that you were good either way. They will both be great for a long time.
*I'd price aftermarket SSD upgrades. I ran with the stock 2TB setup and I'm grabbing an SSD I find on sale elsewhere.
*Don't go lower. The new cards will be out soon and you'll be upset being that far behind. Take advantage of the ridiculous deal and get the best you can get now.
*people are still saying 16gb is more than enough. I do believe there are four slots and the 16gb takes up two.
*I'm still kicking myself about the monitor issue. I don't think HP is the way to go. I have a great 4k TV that I'll use when I can actually run games in 4k, so I think I'm going with a 1440p monitor. I think spending $800 on a monitor with VR inbound and a 65" 4k in the living room is a bit much. After a day of deliberation I'm leaning toward the 27" Asus MX27AQ for $430.
