Hmmm Now it has me wondering if they were ever a couple to begin with. If You haven't had sex in three years, that's not a relationship but at this point a roommate. Sounds like OP and his "gf" had one fling a while ago but it died and she's basically a roommate. Him still catching feelings, is made because she is basically living her single life without him and now is feeling some type of way probably out of jealousy and kicking her out because of it.

You're a nice dude for letting her say until the end of February, but legally you don't have to do shit for her. Unless she paid up the whole month already. You could just work out the math, give her back the difference, and kick her out.

I feel bad for the OP, he and this girl obviously considered themselves a couple, no matter how fucked up the relationship was, so it's kind of mean to make fun of him so much!

Hopefully he doesn't waste the life lesson of the last three years and learns how to break up with a girl rather than dragging out dead relationships.

Actually since the household is signed in your name, she has very little to say legally speaking. Honestly sounds like she's the one that's got a problem, since everything is in your name.

The relation/balance between the two of you is strictly tenant - occupant. As a tenant, it is in your best interest and concern to be sure that the occupant is following the guidelines.

But honestly, this doesn't seem like a huge deal. She'll be out by the end of february. Just endure till the end of the month and your worries along with her will go.

From a legal standpoint you can't kick a roommate/tenant out on such short notice. You generally have to give them 30 days. But in practical terms, it happens all the time. You can put her shit out on the front porch and change the locks one day if you want. But if you do, and she takes you to small claims court (or Judge Judy), you'll be on the hook for financial damages. It just depends how savvy you think she is whether it's worth the risk.

When I lived in Illinois and looked up tenant law, there was an emphasis on "treble damages" meaning you might end up owing her 3 months' rent if she takes you to court. If you decide it's worth the risk of owing her that much to get her out of your life, then just kick her out today.

OP, 3 years is a long time, are you sure she still considered you her boyfriend till now? Did she introduce you as her boyfriend or just by your name? Sorry I have to ask, but is it possible you just thought she was your girlfriend while she had already moved on?

Not really relevant to the question in the OP, but it is to the information posted since.
