I don't care if it's not "new" Silent Hill 2 should best narrative and the game awards.

That would require Geoff to forgive and acknowledge the existence of modern day Konami.

I thought that bridge was burned with Kojima being the one pouring the gasoline.

There was a time when winning a meaningless award at Geoff's painful corporate junk filled event was a non-event.

Those were better times.

The Game Awards should have different narrative categories:

**Best Original Narrative:** This would be for brand-new stories, rewarding creativity and innovation in world-building, character development, and plot.

**Best Narrative Adaptation:** This would recognize games that adapt existing works (books, films, etc.) or reimagine older games like the Silent Hill 2 Remake. It would assess how well the source material is translated and if any new narrative layers enhance the experience.

There's not enough nudity in Silent Hill 2. I keep waiting for a hot shower scene, but it's just some guy looking for his wife or whatever.

If its as different as RE:Remake is to RE then they can call it a new game.

Most remakes don't go this far because the devs can't actually make as good of a game.

Positive examples would be Wolfenstein 3D remaking Castle Wolfenstein from the Apple II, Castlevania IV remaking Castlevania, Doom (2016) remaking Doom (1993).
Like how Tomb Raider 2013 is a remake of 1996?

Remakes and remasters shouldn't win jack shit. I mean good for you if you want this experience again or never played the original but I personally hate this trend.

I see it more as a message that these types of games are viable in the market

It's been over 20 years fuck it, give it it's flowers again. There's nothing this year that's even close from a narrative perspective anyway.

The introspective dark themes, the symbolism within the gameplay, the foreshadowing, the tone and atmosphere, tied together within a new almost Naughty Dog level presentation. We need to reward this level of stuff even if it's technically old, to remind most devs to stop with the safe soft modern slop and TAKE SOME FUCKING RISKS with your stories.
100% agree. Games/narratives like Silent Hill 2 should be a lesson in how to write a brilliant story and surround it with adult subject matter that, upon surface level appears to be one thing, but looked at deeper has a far greater meaning.

Not 1 game since Silent Hill 2 originally came out that has close to it's brilliant story telling. Nothing. Not Uncharted. Not Last Of Us. Nothing...
