Is anybody here genuinely undecided about which next gen console they are going to get?

I am undecided because I tend to wait for the games. No point in owning the newest hardware if there is no software out for it. Have there even been any next gen games announced yet?

I myself are undecided. The only Xbox console I had was the original xbox, and owned all sony's console. This time around I will go with the most powerful.

Undecided?

No. Because I'm buying both. Not at the same time, as I will continue with my previous two gens plan of buying the Xbox first and the PS5 at the first price drop/first MUST HAVE game.

That's where I am at. I will probably wait for 12-18 months after release and then buy whichever one has released the most games I want to play and but that one first. I will probably get the next one a year or so after that given it's been successful and there is a reason to.

I will probably get both at launch. I love new tech.

If I decided to go with one at the start it will probably be XSX. I'm am guessing it will be the most powerful. It also has game pass and good BC. I prefer the XB controller.

What may make me hold off a bit on PS is if there are no exclusives I want to play for awhile. It may not make sense to buy one day 1 then. If it has BC that goes back through all the previous generations I'd grab it day 1 for sure, but I'm making another guess and thinking it will only be BC for PS4.

The only next gen console I am going to buy is a PS5 because of the exclusive games and I am already in it because of digital and physical PS4 games (thanks for PS4 BC), but I want to see both Sony and Microsoft do well because I will be invested in both eco systems.

Ideal scenario :

- Both Sony and Microsoft have amazing lineups of games from their first and third party studios.
- Degenerates fighting over what is better.
- Me enjoying both of their games on PS5+PC.
- Nintendo people busy paying $60 for Nintendo Wii U games on Switch.

No I'm already locked into Xbox ecosytem. So XBSX will be my go to next gen. I had a PS4 that went mostly untouched.. Unless they offer full BC for all PS systems Ill wait till I can get one cheap.

Nah. I got a PC so buying either console will be a downgrade.

Cost/specs mean nothing to me. Which ever one has a game I wanna play that I can't play on PC then I'll get that.

Playstation - maybe and only if i'm hyped enough for Gran Turismo. GT is the only reason for me to get Playstation and i don't care if it would be less powerful than the MS Box.

XBox -

I would rather upgrade my PC and get whatever they put out on gamepass for a month.

I think that anyone who knows now is not making a smart decision TBH. The fact is we know virtually nothing about all of these systems. We don't know release date, or price, or game lineup, or feature set. So far it's all been carefully controlled drips to build hype.

I'm definitely undecided. I'm pretty heavily invested in the PlayStation eco system but if BC isn't managed as well on ps5 as it is on Xbox I might switch over. Price isn't my concern but games and ecosystem.

It's a pretty tall order...

I'm not spending $500 on a console. So, when they're both $300 or less, I'll see which one has more and better games. Historically that has been Sony, but we'll see which is better this time.

I am in real trouble here. When I do online multiplayer it's with my two friends on PS, but I like playing single games on my Xbox, in fact I enjoy Microsoft's solutions and vision much more, however Sony's exclusives are undeniably among the best of this generation. Eventually I'll get both, but still have no clue which one to start with... I guess it depends on when the friends want to get the next gen PS5 console.

Will definitely be getting a PS5 because of my physical and digital games. I skipped the Xbox One, but may get a Series X depending on the exclusives. I do have Game Pass on PC as well. Price isn't really a concern unless they were something insane like a grand each.

Nope, no confusion here. Going with the ecosystem and platform I've invested in since it's Inception, and that is the Playstation.

ps5. If the console is around 9tlops i will be over the moon. Bought a ps4 pro a couple of years ago and honestly have never looked back.

There exclusive games are where it is at and unfortunately i cant see Ms competing on that front ever. I know they bought a bunch of studios not to long ago but head to head they are simply inferior to what Sony has to offer.

I have been utterly blown away by Sony's exclusives and if that is the standard they can achieve on this generations hardware i stutter to think what this new generation will do.

I am leaning towards the xbox, i have both xbox and ps4 this gen and I barely touch my ps4. Xbox just has the eco system my friends are on. and now with game pass being what it is... its hard to compete with it. at least for me.

I guess another question to this might be is there anything for those nearly decided that would cause you to switch over to the other side.

At this point, neither. If the 1X gets down to $199 I might consider that or if the "Series S" pans out I'll look into that.

I've never felt the need to be on the bleeding edge of tech.

I'll be getting both but unless something drastic happens, I'll be getting the next xbox 1st because I prefer xbox exclusives/OS/controller (ironically have horizon zero Dawn on pause to type this).

No PC... I dont have the money to keep dumping in or time to constantly tinker with. Just give me a box I can plug in for the next 5 - 10 years and I'm good.

Yea. I feel like I don't want neither for now...probably because no next gen games I'm excited about yet. There's still many games that are releasing for this gen that I'm interested in, so that creates this atmosphere where it feels like next gen is still a ways off so I'm not feeling the need to jump on the next gen bandwagon yet.

I'm not getting any at launch. And when I buy one, it will depend on the games it has. I might buy a Xbox for the first time, if Sony screws up some how.

I'm jumping from Xbox to Sony this time. I haven't been impressed with Xbox games this cycle and I can also eventually play them on my PC.

Whereas Sony has some awesome exclusives this time around. So I'm jumping ship and getting the PS5.

I'm going to get both as I have with most gens. I'm super pumped for Series X. I just hope Sony doesn't drop the ball with the PS5 and release some pretty noticeably underpowered machine compared to the Series X. I mean I still will get it because of their exclusives which they're great at, but I will be disappointed in the hardware.

I'll probably get them all like I always do, the only thing I'm undecided about is when I'll get Microsoft's console. X1 definitely wasn't worth what I paid, should have waited until the end of the generation and got it for cheap, if XSX is more like the X1 then I'll wait to get it.

With Sony and Nintendo I can buy their console day 1 and know it will get plenty of must have exclusives through-out its lifetime, with Microsoft you don't know what your gonna get.

I want to go with most powerful, but history shows that Sony wiped the floor with Microsoft this gen with exclusives.

If PS5 comes in at just about same specs as XSX then I'll go for that...but then again I really love GamePass. I'm playing games I'd never thought I'd try because of it.

Though, for now I'm trying to remain neutral, but something says I'll go with PS5, until XSX drops price in future or vice-versa. If only I had about £1000 to spend!

No.

anybody getting the XB X One Series X1 instead of the PS5 should have a word with themselves.

embarrassing.

I'll get both. However which ever console ends up with the better specs will be my daily driver for multi platform games. Same this gen with the Xbox X. Switched from PS4 to Xbox once the X came out.

End of the day this isn't even a question at the moment as nothing is known on PS5 as of yet, anybody who stating
No.

embarrassing.
anybody posting this without any information on PS% yet have a word with themselves

I have been leaning towards PS5 because I have been PS4 only this generation, but I am still 100% on the fence without a doubt, and if I switch it would not be the first time. Regarding OP's first factors other than rumor confirmation:

- specs (of the PS5 and Lockhart) --> 100% a factor.

- price --> 100% a factor, and a two fold factor at that. It is not just a question of do I think the price is justified. The second question is will this price lead to casuals buying the machine. That is important to me because the smaller the install base, the more likely the other machine gets exclusive games and in game content IMO.

- launch line up of games --> obviously a factor, but most games will be on both systems. Looking forward to seeing what exclusives Sony brings at launch and year 1, and looking forward to seeing how Halo turns out.

- backwards compatibility (PS5 only, already confirmed for Xbox) --> it's a factor to an extent, but seems both will have it by and large. Still will be interested to know if there are ways to carry progress over on games like Fortnite from PS4 to Xbox. This is more a possible reason not to switch than a reason to switch for me. I'm not really chomping at the bit to replay my digital 360 games, but would be a nice option if I switch back to MS.

Originally I planned on buying both, now I'm not totally sure. I'm definitely buying the Xbox Series X.

I'm pretty disappointed with Sony's lack of communication here and it's given me time to cool my hype jets on their new console. Gotta see some specs and BC confirmation before I decide on whether or not I'm buying a PS5. If it's just PS4 (and not PS1->PS4) backwards compatibility, my purchase decision is going to weigh heavily based on their exclusive next-gen games. If it's full backwards compatibility (that works with my existing digital purchases) then I'll buy it day one. If their launch lineup looks bad then it'll be a "wait and see if there's anything interesting coming out I want to play that I can't play anywhere else" ie "wait for a good sale / bundle deal".

PS5 is probably going to be a launch purchase. I'll wait until they come with a slimmer xbox series X and just be on PC i'm not really missing much not getting an xbox console.

I'm going with PS5 to start the generation. (I currently own the launch PS4, launch Xbox One, and Xbox One X)
I'll end up getting something from Microsoft and Sony. But I already have an Xbox One X and since there won't be any exclusives on the Xbox Series X that I can't play on my One X, I'll opt for the PS5 this year. I'm pretty sure it's going to be standard now to see mid-generation updates like the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. I've got the feeling that PS5 will launch with exclusives that can't be played on the PS4. The exclusives, plus the fact that the PS5 will probably be cheaper than Xbox Series X because it isn't as powerful, makes it easy for me to opt for Sony to kick off this generation. Microsoft's Smart Delivery has me excited for whatever mid-generation update they'll have ready for me in 4-5 years.

Essentially, I'm picking up all of Sony's new generations at launch and skipping their mid-generation updated console. And I'm going to start getting all of Microsoft's mid-generations while skipping all of Microsoft's new generation launch consoles.

Rare came out a while ago and said they wont be looking at their back catalogue for future games, it will all be new stuff. So chances are slim for those games, unless they are given to a different studio.
Having said that, i did see a few rumours about a new Perfect Dark so.
That doesn't stop other studios that Microsoft owns from making any of those intellectual properties.

No. I'll go with PS5 since I'm deep within their ecosystem already. Been with them for four generations so don't see any reason to stop, since both consoles does pretty much the same thing. I also enjoy Sonys exclusives more than MS. I also don't care for power.

Too early to tell for me, really. I need to see a range of details. Technical specifications are important to me - hopefully these consoles will be in use for a good 6-7 years, which is a long time for things to evolve. It sounds like Xbox has gone with a decent power level, and I think they both should be close. I want to understand other parts of the "value proposition", such as playing previous games (which I hope is a given for both consoles). Lastly, of course, the games. Not so much a release line up, but the first 12-24 months after release.

Digital investment may well be crucial for many, can I re-download/move across my current gen library?

Once the full reveals from both Sony and Microsoft has happened, then I can compare - I find that bit fun. Shame it won't be E3, I liked having a big week finding out everything from both - perhaps Sony will do soething really in-depth around that time anyway?

No.

Out of curiousity, why? Outside of the friends you play with, it doesn't affect you ; why be so insulting of others' choices? I can't see why anyone would be embarassed by buying the product of their own choice - whatever that is (PlayStaton, Xbox, Switch, PC, Stadia, Sega Master System). Just let them get on with it.

I am unsure. PS seemed to have better exclusivity but I like the Xbox platform. Had both consoles at launch in the last cycle but sold the Xbox as I wasn't using it. Need to seem Microsoft offer a lot to invest in them again.

No way am I undecided. Xbox Series X first. Playstation 5 later. I may get PS5 only a few days after my Xbox Series X depending on what Sony announces, but I'm more waiting for specific titles to show up for PS5. There so many things I want to play on my Series X immediately, especially my existing backlog.

If Bungie was still making Halo games and I didnt own a PC, i would consider xbox again. 343i literally shoved me out of the fanbase.
