Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
If you're going low carb make cauliflower fried rice. I made some tonight for a base.

Do you like mushrooms OP? Grilled/baked mushrooms (portobello, the big ones) offer quite a lot of substance for usually very little money. Plus it's mostly protein, and very little calories for the weight.

That doesn't make exercise ineffective. If you keep your diet exactly the same but start/increase exercise, you will lose weight and get in better shape.

You will lose weight, but it will be extremely slow and hard. Changing your diet is far more efficient and easier to control.

If you are at a steady weight and go from no exercise to moderate exercise 3x a week, you'll burn about an extra 1,500 calories per week. You'll lose weight if you stick with it every week, but it will be a slow process that's hard to manage because you'll also have an increased appetite after working out and a lot of people eat those calories back because they dont understand the importance of proper nutrition.

You can get that same result with the most minor of dietary changes. If you incorporate more vegetables and less processed/fast foods into your diet, you'll far exceed those 1,500 calories per week in a healthy way. Rarely do people jump off of the couch and get into the gym at a vigorous pace 3 times a week and stick with it. It takes more additional time than dieting, you get sore, and many people need external motivation.

Nobody is saying that exercise is bad or not important. But, if your goal is strictly weight loss, it is not the efficient way to do it.

Your points are all valid and I agree. Although I do think that you underestimate the difficulty of changing a diet for some people. It takes a lot of commitment and planning to do it the right way, just like exercising does.

The most effective way is to just do both. If one is putting the effort into dieting, what's 20minutes a day of doing cardio or lifting some weights at home? Or just some no-equipment exercises like crunches, push-ups, pull-ups, etc?

It's so much more worth it to do both.

Nope!

Yup!

Basically just calorie and macro counting, and understanding meal timing. On a rest day I'll have around 100g of carbs, spread throughout the day and a lot comes from fruit.

On workout days I center my carbs around my workout and have 200-250g of rice, potatoes, Gatorade, oatmeal, etc.

Sounds awesome. I'll look into it.

edit: are you the dude in the YT video?

If you live in USA you can buy frozen bags of cauliflower rice from trader joe's, $2/bag good for 3-4 servings each bag, total 15g carbs per bag (6g of that is fiber).

Obviously just buying cauliflower and making your own "rice" is way cheaper but for those who are sorta lazy or hate the extra time involved its well worth it.

Hah! Nope that's Steve P.

Wow, the Renaissance diet doesn't come cheap.
-- 99 bucks for a couple of XLSX templates.
-- $525 for 3 month diet plan

Yeah, no thanks.

Those are their diet templates. The book is like 35.00 or something. Reading the book makes it easy to put your own diet program together.

Lmao Sean you need to change your avatar. People mistaking you for StevieP again. But maybe that's a good thing.

Haha I know this is like the 10th time it's happened.

Oh man, I wish there was a Trader Joe's here, that stuff looks awesome. I tried to make riced cauliflower once... it didn't go so well. I think the issue was I was using the stem as well, and it was too thick/fibrous to properly rice, clogging my ricer.

I'm on pace to lose ~ 20 pounds this month on the same method. Carbs are almost gone. I tend to make my snack of the day almonds, which still have a few grams in them.

Breakfast - eggs or almonds
Dinner - meat and 2 veg
-I've been switching this up daily.
-ginger beef with onions and peppers.
-Brats with kraut and radishes
-Grilled chicken with cucumbers and cabbage
Lunch - leftover dinner

I was seriously hungry and pissed off for about 5 days then I got over it.

My calorie count is REALLY low (1200-1300) but I work a deskjob and haven't been exercising so I don't burn many more than that. I'm going to add another 300-400 calories next week when I get back on my bike.

Just a week in and I starting feeling more alert and I stopped sweating so much. It's killed my chronic heartburn as well (best part)

I got to the point where I would eat pizza or fastfood and just feel bad all night.

Much happier right now but I need to keep it going. I'm working on a month and than we'll see how far I can take it once the holidays start up.
