The point of a portable is that you can play it everywhere without the worry of a solid connection. I mean cloud gaming AS IS is awful even on a home console now a cloud on a portable? I wish I could be in that meeting at Sony to know the mentality behind this.Cloud+ handheld sounds like a terrible idea.
I think Sony is up for a rude awakening. It is, in fact, quite hard to hold a cloud in your hands.
Not sure Grubb said he heard about a Vita 2, he is talking about the rumours.Doesn't even make sense. If he received reports about a Vita 2 then how has he only heard about a cloud device?
Are they the same report or is he saying he is his own source?
Japan (or any country) isn't going to buy a device just because its portable.Cloud in a handheld… who came up with this brilliant idea? If this isn't a Japanese only then it is dead on arrival.
Tom Henderson is reporting that Sony are working on new hardware and people are speculating that it's a Vita successor. Jeff is telling people the only Sony handheld he has heard about is a cloud one.Doesn't even make sense. If he received reports about a Vita 2 then how has he only heard about a cloud device?
Are they the same report or is he saying he is his own source?
Looking at VR they might go after a premium price. But maybe they learnt a lesson from VR. It probably depends how they want to position the device.Yeah , 99usd was the price point that they were trying to hit. Sony definitely will be trying to estimate the incremental engagement and revenue a cloud streaming device and accounting that in the price, thats a lot harder for anyone that isn't a platform holder.
The problem is that it's now limited to ps5 owners cause it doesn't support psnow. It could be an interesting device if its cheap, and it has full remote and psnow capabilities.
Ok you can't play in a train nor plane, but there is a niche of people who want to play in sofa while their couples are watching the TV, or during holidays abroad, or in hotel.
But I don't believe that. Or it is 100% confirmed? The problem is that it's now limited to ps5 owners cause it doesn't support psnow.
That's what the article is implying imo, I might be implying something that isn't there or Tom has it wrong. But I don't believe that. Or it is 100% confirmed?
I expect a device consisting of a dualsense, a screen and an ARM. You can put your PSNow and PSRemote applications and double you audicience....
Codenamed the Q Lite, the next PlayStation handheld is the next piece of Sony hardware that aims to be yet another piece of hardware that requires the PlayStation 5. Insider Gaming understands that the Q Lite is not a cloud-streaming device, but instead uses Remote Play with the PlayStation 5 – A feature the console giant has been pushing these past couple of weeks.
Yup. He just leaked...Sounds shit.
Thankfully the dude knows nothing.
That's literally what a Vita does right now, but it also plays games natively.https://insider-gaming.com/playstation-handheld/
Only seems to support remote play.... Weird choice so I am out.
No he didn't.Yup. He just leaked...
...Sony Inzone headsets and monitors
....exact date when Sony will launch Discord integration with PlayStation
....existence of DualSense Edge controller with exact features
But...thankfully the dude knows nothing![]()
This source is Tom so maybe a different Sony source, maybe still be incorrect. That's literally what a Vita does right now, but it also plays games natively.
Sounds stupid as fuck and DOA if it's real, but it's Grubb and he likes pissing out of his ass so...
Or you could just release a remote-play Android/iOS app?It could be an interesting device if its cheap, and it has full remote and psnow capabilities.
Ok you can't play in a train nor plane, but there is a niche of people who want to play in sofa while their couples are watching the TV, or during holidays abroad, or in hotel.
A native device would be the dumbest because a lot of resources has to be wasted in a product that could fail and it would hurt your game production line... A production line that would be insufficient to compete, especially for the new generation.
Ehh. Yes he did...That's literally what a Vita does right now, but it also plays games natively.
Sounds stupid as fuck and DOA if it's real, but it's Grubb and he likes pissing out of his ass so...
No he didn't.
Hope not, that's so silly. This source is Tom so maybe a different Sony source, maybe still be incorrect.

Actually, I'd love that if its really cheap (like less than £100 cheap), being able to play my PS5 in any room would be awesome, think of it as a peripheral rather than a standalone handheldSucks but really isn't surprising. Creating a dedicated handheld gaming library isn't really a viable thing anymore. That's why we have Switch as a hybrid and handhelds like Steam Deck that play low rez versions of existing PC games.
seriously?

Well. Since Henderson expanded Grubb's report and basically confirmed "cloud handheld" from Sony, I think we can move on from Grubb.I was talking about Grubb.
Hope not, that's so silly.
Holy shit, they're the same person AND Italian Spider-Man?Wait, wait, wait, Jeff Grubb is Tom Henderson?

I might implying that from the article. If it supported both, I just would have thought Tom would have mentioned it.seriously?
That's different to what Grubb said, so he did know nothing.Well. Since Henderson expanded Grubb's report and basically confirmed "cloud handheld" from Sony, I think we can move on from Grubb.

I've only ever heard about a cloud-streaming handheld.
It's also pretty fucking useless if it's only remote play.Insider Gaming understands that the Q Lite is not a cloud-streaming device, but instead uses Remote Play with the PlayStation 5 – A feature the console giant has been pushing these past couple of weeks.
