With how broken up he got about not getting GOTY at the Geoff's, maybe he invented a Sony exclusivity deal in his mind because he felt he deserved one :pie_thinking:
You know that’s not true and a complete misrepresentation of what he said? The guy said he had prepared his speech two years in advance, before the game was even complete. This was him joking about the whole thing.

If there really is an exclusive deal, the only way it might make sense that Sony isn't speaking of the game and marketing it heavily is due to the political angle of supporting a Chinese dev and how that might look to the west. Then again, if that really was a problem, they likely wouldn't have entertained it at all?

Who knows.

Sony has an entire initiative to support gaming in China and has had big booths in Chinese gaming conventions like China Joy.

The facts just don't support the idea of secret exclusivity.

Ah, gotcha. We can rule that out then... then this is strange all around, lol.

Why do we keep posing stuff from this guy? It's clear he has no idea about anything or how the industry works.

He literally thinks Disney saw loads of money from Indie the Great Circle and picked up their phone in the board room and dialled Phil "Hello, is this Mr. Xbox Phil? We'd like to order some more games please!"

Yeah, I'm always surprised why this dumbass gets new threads. He often gets things wrong, tends to backtrack on what he says or just jumps on the bandwagon of what someone else said

The only solution that makes sense is this:

Sony sent engineers to help the Wukong devs and largely succeeded in making it run on PS5/PS5 Pro (albeit imperfectly), Microsoft didn't do the same (or at least their engineers didn't have a solution for the Series S), and now they had to save face on why the single biggest new IP of 2024 didn't launch day 1 on their device despite being promised, so they sent in their PR reps and weirdos to cover their asses with this drivel. Now we're seeing chickens roost and idiots backtracking in real time.

It's for the entertainment value of watching this process unfold over and over again.

The idea is FULL retard and whoever entertains it should feel ashamed of it.

I don't think so. This has been an ongoing narrative to deflect attention away from the poor decision that was the Series S. As well, I believe you're right - if Sony was reluctant to show support for a Chinese dev, they simply wouldn't support them. To add to that, Sony has been supportive of Chinese devs and gaming for a while now too. So, this is either more MS astroturfing or Jez coping or both.

Who cares if there is one more moneyhatted 3rd party from Sony? That shit will stop once Xbox goes full 3rd party anyways.

This is embarrassing for Microsoft. Why don’t they just pick up the phone and say ‘let us help you get the game running on Series S ASAP and then we can get a release fast tracked’. If they refuse, then MS can simply point to that fact.

It looks like absolute baboonery, and the fact that they are playing this out with people like Corden is incredibly disrespectful.

Because even Microsoft can't help them run it on Series S lol. It'll take the time it needs.

Remember Baldur Gate's 3? Microsoft sent a specialized team to help them have the split-screen co-op on Series S. In the end, they also gave up, and the game launched without a split screen co-op lol.

If that was the case Sony wouldn't have initiated the China Hero Project at all.

That's in line with what Jeff Grubb said that there wasn't any monetary deal in place, but there may have been technical assistance from Sony to get the game released on PlayStation.

Timestamped.

Which has been the same with other games like Genshin Impact, Phantom Blade Zero or Stellar Blade. Sony assisted in their development so obviously got their port in due time. For all the money that MS has, they offer shit help to new devs so they should expect the same in return.

Idiots like Jez Corden played a good part in the Xbox downfall and failure. Complete denial and refusal to make Microsoft accountable has always produced the worst results.
He should push for Microsoft to rightly leave behind Series S and allow games to ship at least on Series X or cases like BG3 and Wukong will become the norm.

Even funnier is that Jez can’t let go of Windows Phone dying an ugly death.

I want to like xbox but Microsoft and their shills get in the way. There's this kind of pathetic culture of brand worship around xbox specifically that is so cringy. It doesn't help that most of them are like middle aged too. It's embarrassing.
All three companies have their over zealous fans. The weird Cerny worship, Miyamoto being perceived as infallible...
