Thanks everyone. Admittedly I don't have a ton of content or saves on my Wii U just yet so it wouldn't be a huge loss, just rather silly that everything is locked down to the console like this.
After arguing with Target customer service for a while the manager said I can (probably) return and repurchase my same exact console on the spot to qualify for the $25 gift card, so this might not be an issue after all. Packing up my console right now and crossing my fingers. Never thought I'd have to do all this crap just to price match something but I guess these gift card promos are different.

From anecdotal evidence I've seen over the recent months, load times appear to be sometimes a bit better but not by that much, I guess? But what do I know, I live in disc-land.

I think it is a game by game basis. I think I heard that W101 and Lego City loaded a bit faster. But also that there was no difference for Splinter Cell, which has awful loading, anyone know if this was fixed?
But not that there are a lot of tests around.
Not that I'm aware of. I think even if they are faster it's nearly neglectable amount.

Definitely! 3D World basically sold me on the Wii U but I want to finish 3D Land first. I've never played a Pikmin game so I'll be sure to try this one out!

I had never played Pikmin before Pikmin3 either, and I loved it, it's a great game and a must have for Wii U owners.

It does seem like overall people are warming up to the system. This happened with the 3DS as well around this time in its launch and the positive vibes have never went away.

I'm thinking of doing the same. I want a PS4, but Infamous is the game I really want. I also want AC4, but I could get that on PS3 and upgrade later. I'm starting to think it makes sense just to wait.
I went out looking at Wii U bundles today, but all I could find were Zelda bundles. I want the Mario and Luigi bundle.

Yeah, I'm getting a ps4 for Christmas, but I'm probably just going to leave it in the box until Ground Zeroes... It's a vast wasteland out there. Obviously, it'll be totally worth it to have one down the road... It's just a matter of when. The WiiU is simply the more compelling buy today.

I dunno if it's just because they rarely stock it, but both Walmarts I went to today had no Wii-U's in stock. And they had a nice display for Super Mario 3D World~
The Mario/Luigi bundle is doing really well. Zelda is mostly gone.
It's the normal bundles that are moving slow. Though better than last year.

Hope I won't have any trouble finding one, lol. I was going to wait for Ebay's $250 bundle and pray it's the Mario/Luigi one (as that's the best value imo). But if it's something like NintendoLand or Zelda bundle, not sure. I want the physical copy of Wind Waker HD, but I guess for $250, that's a really nice deal, so I might buy it regardless.
Speaking of Nintendo Land, how fun is that for 2 players? I probably wouldn't play it by myself too much, but I have a friend who visits sometimes, and we could potentially play it. It isn't a game I'd buy normally.
Zelda Battle Quest, Pikmin Adventure, Metroid Blast are all great in 2 players.

Hmm, thanks. Tempted to get that BestBuy Black Friday bundle which comes with Nintendo Land, Mario/Luigi U, and a wiimote for $319. I don't really need the wiimote, so I could sell it maybe. Just wasn't sure if I should keep or sell Nintendo Land. Might check it out if multiplayer is fun.
Nintendo Land is great also for single player. Is way more deeper than people usually believe. There are many levels to unlock, achievements to gain. And practically just the Donkey Kong's Crash Course is enough to justify owning the game.
Practically it offers an equal share of single player, co-op and party games.

It's the same at my Walmart. Went there like an hour ago to pick up some last minute Thanksgiving necessities. went by the games area and they were sold out of Wii U's and Super Mario 3D World. Little side note, the Wii, Wii U, and 360 versions of Disney infinity and Skylanders swap force were also sold out.

If you end buying a WiiU, then go for the WiiU version of AC4. It performs better than the PS3 one, it also has additional features like off-tv play or the UI integrated on the touch-screen. It's not a game changer, but it's a nice upgrade compared to normal gamepads.
Sell the download code on Ebay and then buy the physical copy. I am doing that with the 3DSXL. I already have the a physical copy of Zelda A Link Between Worlds but am buying the Target deal. I will just sell the code.
About NintendoLand. There is plenty of stuff that is fun with 2 players but try to get more people involved. My parents are 60 and when they visited I played the Mario Chase and Luigi's Mansion attractions with them and my wife. They don't play video games and we all had a blast.
The touch screen is also convenient to switch through items quickly. It makes more of a difference than people think.

So I decided to look again at the walmart.ca deal... Seems like they have the 249$ Mario+Luigi Wii U bundle back in stock.
I couldn't pass this up and just ordered one.

If I buy the Zelda bundle for $250, that's probably what I'll do. It just seems like such a hassle because I can't imagine they would sell very fast. And from what I saw, they sell for $35-$40 on ebay which isn't quite the price of a physical copy. I wish they would have just included the physical copy in the box like they did for the Mario bundle.

I hear you. A friend of mine was going to get the Zelda bundle but found out that it was a downloadable version. He got the Mario/Luigi bundle instead. He bought Wind Waker separately.
It is a good enough deal though that selling the code still and buying the physical version separately is still worth it though.

what's even worse: Now that they finally updated the WiiU Youtube app today (it actually works really good now: touchscreen support and watching vids on gamepad) they fucked up the login. which means: you can't (or I can't; maybe I'm too stupid).
The app tells you an unique code(!) which you have to enter at youtube.com/activate to actually log in. doesn't work somehow. dunno why.
what the hell google? what are you? stupid???
why on earth not the usual youtube-login with username/email and password?
why?
(I'm really pissed of atm because otherwise the updated app is really nice now)

Yeah, I am staying out of those, while some people actually want to have a serious discussion, others just want to troll or make comments that are not constructive in any way. So back to positive, in NA at least I think that there is more positive buzz about Wii U which is great.

So awesome to see everyone joining the club. Wind Waker HD and Super Mario 3D World have dominated my time lately and I've really enjoyed them. I still need to get W101 one of these days.
I really hope the Wii U's past problems (sales wise) don't mean that on Black Friday lots of retailers are sold out from having small inventories. I would love to see the Wii U do well this holiday season.
