Bow gets easier the more you use it. And i meant the ranger archetype. You know, bow and arrow, living in the wilderness, stealthy.
I stopped playing the game waiting for patches, but I was bow level 11, and it's not easier. Nothing even changes about the bow as you level. You still sway like crazy, and your shots aren't landing in the same spot even if you have the same timing.

And stealth gameplay doesn't work. I have low visibility and noise gear, it's pitch dark at night, I'm crouch walking with stealth level 6, also have the forestry perk or whatever where being in the forest conceals you more, and bandits will still see me far away. Stealth is completely whacked in this game along with the terrible lockpick and pickpocket systems.

Hmm, somethings wrong with you or your game, cuz I'm lvl 5 with the bow and am murdering people that have no armor like crazy. I killed 3 people with one arrow each before they could even realize from where they were coming lol.

The moment you realize you should be using your left hand (around the knuckles) and not the arrow point to aim, it really becomes second nature.

Well, that's disappointing.

Take a bath, they are smelling the rank from a mile off. I'm doing great with a bow, get most of my bandit and even boss kills with it. Was joking about the stench but I do remember the game telling me that enemies and guards can smell you if you're dirty. I don't do much stealth so not sure about the A.I detecting me with light gear since I'm always in about 100 lbs. Of armor lol.

They might have taken the perk Manly Odour or something. the text actually says that you can be smelled from a mile away, basically dropping your stealth.

So how many hours are we looking at ? I'm contemplating buying it if its well over 150+ hrs (including side quests ofcourse).

40-50 for main quest alone, plus there are a lot of sidequests. If you'll take your time, you can definitely sink 100+ hours

Also, weird seing Astro having polar opposite experience to mine, in my game the stealth is broken in a different way, i can cheese any dumb bandit with just lvl 5 stealth. Maybe its because i play xbox one version, and i heard the newest patch that overhauls some mechanics isn't yet applied to this version

Uh what? I put stickers on my monitor to try and figure out the exact aiming spot. If you're swaying to the left, it will shoot more to the left, and it does the same for the right. There is no middle spot, and the swaying doesn't go away.

And I only kill enemies in one hit if it's a headshot. Body shots take 4-5 arrows. I definitely don't think you're aiming perfectly with the bow. People here complained about spending a dozen arrows trying to kill a rabbit that doesn't move.

Case in point:

I repair and wash my stuff all the time. I know I repaired it before that particular bandit camp. Not an issue. Stealth just doesn't work well. There's also no indication of line of sight or whether they're starting to see you.

I’m only a few hours in. Is there a good way to make money? I wanted to buy some save items, but they are so expensive. I hate not being able to just save whenever I want.

Anyone playing with a controller? I wonder if combat is easier on controller because it's a bit clunky on the mouse, especially trying to attack in the middle. Jerk your mouse a little and you can't attack middle anymore
I saw someone else complain of being OP too soon. I'm so glad I played it slow and just now figured lockpicking out 35 hours in. I also don't do the sneak thing for taking out enemies. I got to enjoy growing slowly from peasant to soldier. Sorry that you skipped the best part. :(

Agreed one hundred percent. 45 hours in and I fail at numerous things often

It’s very possible that your game/save is bugged and maybe perk/progression isn’t registering for you. I’ve read countless reports of similar bugs from people playing on all platforms

I have killed people with a shot to the back, or the chest. And of course, I miss some arrows, I'm not Robin Hood, but you can aim and hit pretty consistently. Did you go to a hunter and asked him to train you? Also what type of arrows are you using, and what bow? A good bow will not be good with poor arrows and good arrows will not be good with poor bows. Right now I'm using piercing arrows and a cuman bow. If I get a shot against a light armored foe, on the chest or the back it does heavy damage, to the point of one shotting some people.

Watch this video here and you'll see that you can aim in this game, and the arrows will go mainly to the same place . The guy is in the first training session when you get into a contest with Capon, meaning, not much bow experience.

Killing bandits and selling loot. Selling cooked meat. You can't sell raw meat because hunting animals is considered poaching. But for some reason cooked meat doesn't count as stolen.
You can also sleep in any bed to save your game.

Given the state of the game, it's quite possible. I started on 1.20, so my saves could be messed up.

I'm going to start fresh on some really good patch in the future. If bows, stealth, and stuff are the same, I think I'll just focus on melee and brute force. Grinding pickpocket and lockpicking was boring too.

I can do archery contests easily because you have a standstill point of reference by using the archery target. I know where to aim exactly where and when to loose at the archery target for bullseye. It's not the same when you're out in the forest even against a still rabbit, or an enemy that's jerking about. Yeah, it's realistic. If you miss your arrow, you pull out your sword, but it still means bow isn't fun in a gamey way.

Speaking of archery contests, I remember doing them and they ended up bugged because I would shoot all my arrows, and one or both contestants don't even shoot, so I have to disqualify myself because it won't end because they won't do anything lol.

Yeah, your game is probably bugged then, as other people (myself included) have pointed out, cuz things shouldn't be that hard, especially humans, they are such a big target, and slow too. The only thing I'm still having an awful time hitting is those roe deer. They are smaller than the red ones and move about skipping so fast that if you don't get them in a good spot, it becomes a real chore to land a hit.

And that archery contest bug has happened to me too, I consider myself lucky cuz no big bug has hit me yet.

Oh roe deers are easy to kill. You just run at them and then they seem to bug out and stand still LOL! I even kill them with my sword.

I saw a mod that brings up that dot reticule that goes away when you take a bow. It's not where you shoot, but it'll be a helpful point of reference, so I'll probably try that out next time. Honestly, I'm looking for a mod that shows the exact position where I'm shooting, then I'll be happy. I don't see any progression of my bow level the way it is now because everything is invisible.

Thanks. I haven’t been tossed out into the wilds where I have encountered bandits yet. Sounds like I just need to get a little further to start making some money.

Quick question. I’m someone who gets sick playing in first person if their is head wobbling. Otherwise, I’m fine. Please tell me their is none in this game. I would be so disappointed because it’s the perfect game for me. I watched some videos, but could not be sure. Thanks!

I don't really look for it but I think there is but if you get the PC version I think there is a command that reduces the effect. That sucks that it affects you.

I do take my time with RPGs though, fyi.

Yeah, your game is bugged, I can't even catch deer with the perk that makes wild animals less skiddish. People want reticules and save anywhere anytime mods which in my opinion ruins the game. It's like being able to put a bonfire anywhere in Dark Souls. Some things are the way they are for a reason.

A quick question, and if someone could answer with just a yes or no that would be great!, are the ‘caves’ significant in anyway?

I’ve bumped into a few but none have had anything in.

My patience is at an end, all I have to do is wait till next week and I could play it on PC, or get it cheap from best buy on ps4.

However after work today I will be trading in Sims 4 in order to get it cheaper through GameStop. 😑

My best buy doesn't have it in stock right now....

Having to replay a game because the game bugged or there was an unintended consequence, that's what kills the game for me.

Do you think you shouldn't be allowed to save because you alt-tabbed, and click to get back in game, but clicking accidentally makes you punch a horse in game which makes all the guards go after you and make you pay a ton of money or spend several days in jail? And then spending time in jail makes you fail quests that had a time limit?

Yeah, I want to save anywhere in a game like this because open world RPGs need to be my experience, not some screwed up buggy shit. And it doesn't even matter because the game autosaves before many major quest point, just not all of them, so there goes the realistic save argument.

No, stealth isn't realistic in this game. Have you seen the pickpocket mechanic? It is gamey as shit. And stealth stats having an arbitrary number is also gamey. If it was realistic, you wouldn't have that stat. You would just wear dark clothes and hope it works. There's also no facemask in the game which is extremely unrealistic, but they left that out because they want guards to recognize your face if you get caught as a sort of game mechanic.

If there were facemasks in the game, that would be realistic, and I would be able to thieve all day with no consequence unless I'm caught. That's realistic.

Well I can't even do that it seems, so I have no choice but to wait. I'm not into buying games at full price, my desire to have the game is slightly outweighed by my cheapness.

Will go home and play Skyrim vr and hope that holds me over.

Never said it's realistic, it's just incorporated the way the developer intended it to. The horse getting punched scenario is no different than laying your controller down and attacking an enemy in Demons Souls or Dark Souls. At least in this game you can just reload a save instead of having to start the whole game over. Go ahead and use a save mod, idc, I just think it makes a game that by some accounts is already too easy even easier killing the challenge.

Since the story is getting lots of praise: What is it that makes it great? Writing? Characters? Awesome cutscenes? Something else?

I just try to check my expectations, because wrpgs never had great stories. Witcher 3 was very boring. Skyrim is more about the simulation than an exciting story. Dragon Age Inquisition sucked. so what makes Kingdom's story different?

I don’t think the story does anything new or innovative but it’s just handled well. There are some very effective scenes that combined with the immersion of the story are very effective to making you care.

But I mean, if you thought W3 is boring than I dunno what to tell you. That’s the best game I’ve played in years

I love this game. I was tasked with killing a couple of bandits as an objective during a quest and really struggled. Heavily armored, packing a punch and seemingly able to predict my moves with 100% accuracy. I had a thought and shouted at myself "You dumb bastard! They'll be sleeping at night, I can kill them then".

I waited until night, ready to strike but somehow had pissed off a boar on the ride over to their camp. The little guy was trying to ram me, but instead, I directed him towards the bandits and what do you know... they died instantly. I proclaimed him my best friend but had to whack the shit over the head because apparently, the fucker had bloodlust and put Pebbles in danger. Nobody tries to hurt Pebbles, not a single thing!

Well you certainly have bloated expectations.

The difference with Kingdom Come is that there's no fantasy, and you also start off as a real novice rather than some bad-ass hero. Maybe people find the draw in that archetype.

This is one of the buggiest games I have seen in a long time, barely watched streams and people was walking in the air, getting stuck on horses, obnoxious audio glitches, awful frame pacing, save issues. Just wow, no way I´m building a new pc to brute force this.

If you didn't like Witcher 3, I don't know you're gonna like this game, because both games have a very similar approach to storytelling and the way how you interact with other characters. But if you like games with a slower pace, that tend to be on the more realistic side, it's certainly possible that you might enjoy it. The story is nothing neither particular new nor groundbreaking, but it's presented in a very thoughtful manner. Compared to Skyrim or DA, the main themes are much more mature in the sense that the game truly engages you with its historical context and the complex political relations between the factions presented within. In other words, there's lots of talk about historical key figures.

The biggest difference though is that the key characters in the game are rather complex and presented in a very humane manner as most of them are morally ambiguous and you often find yourself pondering about their intentions. There is also the fact that the game is far from being a power fantasy, insofar as you don't purposefully try to find a way to break it. You're really quite weak and bad at almost everything, just some regular peasant and some characters really like to rub that under your nose. You never get the feeling that you're some kind of 'chosen one' and that the game world revolves around you. That's certainly not to everybody's liking, but I find that quite refreshing.

I absolutely love games or stories in general where the hero is a nobody. Chosen one-stories always feel so detached from myself and are counter to the feeling of immersion.

I found W3 very boring, because the story really wasn't exciting, and there were no cutscenes, only a couple characters standing next to each other talking. The fact that Kingdom is based on reality makes it much more interesting. I love medieval movies and book (Pillars of Earth is one of my favorites), and Kingdom sounds like that.

Oh well, still inmidst of playing Skyrim Switch. ;o

Well if you're interested in the middle-ages and medieval culture, you should give it a go. In a sense, it's the most accurate 'medieval peasant simulator' to date ;)

What? Witcher 3 had a ton of cutscenes.

I like the game but it's so glitchy sometimes it's infuriating. I had to scout a bandit camp. But how can you be stealthy if your character keeps getting stuck in every bush. Sometimes even stuck in geometry forcing me to reload an earlier save. Good thing i crafted a few schnapps.
But the best was when Henry and pebbles became one. The camera got stuck on pebble's legs. I couldn't dismount and pressing Y he just whistled. I'm starting to miss that bethesda level of polish.

Yes, and even many sidequests are directed like a movie. This game has some of the best in-game cutscenes of all RPGs.

Regarding Kingdom Come, the save system is huge flaw in my opinion. I hope it's going to be patched (or modded) later. I'll wait until then (and the GOG release).

I'm starting to miss that bethesda level of polish.
I'm not sure if this is being sarcastic or not lol.

The challenge of surviving while adventuring between towns. If I could save anywhere I'd do it after every rabbit, deer or bandit I came across. There is no reason to fear anything at any time with a save anywhere feature. Of course, the chances of me falling to random encounters is lessened now that I am level 12 but the first 30 hours of my slow progression were more precarious. Also, if you want to see what happens just sleep and try something. Not very hard. Also, just because other open world games are usually a sandbox doesn't mean Warhorse needs to provide that in their game. Complaining about it is akin to people complaining that there is no easy mode in Dark Souls.
