I love pacific rim but idk if I can justify replacing my BDunless it comes on sale.
HDR was incredibly easily for me to see because I've never seen it on a tv before.
It baffles me that people don't see it. Just slap on uncharted 4 and look at any lightsource in the game.
Light is the place it stands out to me.
In fact I would not have made the jump yet solely on 4k.
Just got the 55" and I am dissapointed. I should have never sold my 4k 55" Sony 810c to try and get on the HDR bandwagon.
My Sony 810c
had a better picture sans HDR (subjective I know but the picture quality was excellent)
Android TV - Built in PS Vue, Google music, etc
Way better wifi performance, wifi performance is crap on my ks8000
Stand in the middle (I have to buy a new TV stand to fit the ks8000's wide legs
Overall really dissapointed in this TV and not worth the $350+ difference from the 810c I sold + price for the new TV stand
Picked up a KS8000 yesterday. Played some Forza Horizon 3 and the sky box is just mind blowing with HDR.
Hi Haines,
Are your settings your using now the ones in the Op or have they changed slightly since then?
Just looking to finalise mine and you seem to be happy with your set.
Okay, I have so far only watched 4K HDR demos and they were actually damn amazing, but (of course), not actual content. If I want to watch something good looking and actually substantial, what should I choose?
These are my options in my region:
Daredevil
The Do-over
Marco Polo
The Ridiculous 6
Chef's Table France
Marco Polo: One Hundred Eyes
HIBANA -Spark- (wtf kind of title is that?)
I like food tv and the original Chef's Table so I'm leaning towards it.

Overall, love the set.
For 4k content with HDR, it's quite a stunner (those YouTube videos, you).
But, unsurprisingly, my VT60 still has the KS beat in a lot of areas, including color and motion. Then again, the VT60 is a reference level beast, so it's not really a fair comparison.
Overall, super happy with the set. It does motion very well for an LCD and the blacks are solid.
Got the KS8000 today. Immediately knew it was a keeper when it wasn't deciding to automatically dim my picture during the worst times.
I naturally have a few settings questions, but the most important one right now involves my new receiver.
I bought this Denon Home Theater and set it up: the calibration proves that my speakers are working correctly. I also got a pair of compatible HDMI cables to connect it to my KS8000, while I also have my PS4 Pro directly connected to the TV.
So far I can't get audio to the receiver. I thought what I had to do was connect one end of the HDMI cable to the MONITOR port of the receiver and the other end to the ARC port of the TV. So far I can't figure out how to get audio on my receiver. Do I need to connect it to a different port? If so, how do I then have it play the audio from the PS4 (while it's still connected to the TV)?
Help would be appreciated.

I thought I was getting real youtube HDR until I updated to 1152. Now I was completely blown away after the update. It was so good that I had to change my underwear after watching. The problem I'm having is that when I played Forza and GOW4, I wasn't blown away. I set up the settings according to the op and the HDR prompt pops up before I play those games. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or what. In GOW4, it looks to dark in some scenes but it defintely doesn't look like anything special.

So for PC gaming at 60 fps, do you have to choose options in game for either the 4K at 60, and reduce the scaling (if needed and available to maintain 60) or 1080p at 60?
I was trying to do some 1440p but it seems the TV only supports 30fps at that resolution.
Just curious why aren't you going from Source to Denon to TV?
Thought it would be easier to connect the PS4 directly to the TV instead of the receiver.
Since it's 4K compatible, I won't lose any picture quality if I connect it to the receiver, right? Just want to make sure there's no degradation or anything else.
Did you adjust the HDR settings in game?I thought I was getting real youtube HDR until I updated to 1152. Now I was completely blown away after the update. I don't have this tv but just curious is infamous very very dark for ks8000 owners too?
Is anyone else experiencing screen/audio flickering with the Pro set to Automatic? Seems to only start happening when an HDR game is played (and doesn'5 happen always). I've seen the issue reported elsewhere but not here yet.
Forza has an hdr slider.I adjusted the slides in Gears but I don't remember making any changes in Forza. I haven't bought Forza and only downloaded the demo.
Forza has an hdr slider.
I left brightness about middle default and the hdr slider around middle. Made sure the logo was gone.
I haven't tried gears bc a friend borrowed it but forza was impressive on the right scene and average on the rest.
Yup I'm having that issue. I'm going to try swapping out my cord and see what happensIs anyone else experiencing screen/audio flickering with the Pro set to Automatic? I've seen people post about this on multiple TVs and the KS8000 is one of them. I am experiencing it, it's pretty frustrating that my original PS4 offered a better experience.
I played the same YT HDR videos on the PS4 Pro and XB1 and they clearly don't look as good or have HDR. Playing the videos through the TV app, it certainly looks like HDR even on 1150. Unfortunately if you press the middle button to check, it pauses the video so I can't verify.
Either I'm being swayed by true 4k video and the colors popping or HDR YT works on 1150.
I'll try to update to 1152 to see if there is any difference.
Edit: Updated and OK, I can see a difference. It looks I was just being swayed by 4k and 60fps. One thing that is interesting to note is the TV YouTube app is incredibly superior in video quality to the PS4 Pro and XB1 even before the firmware update. Strange that a TV is more optimized and seemingly has more power to run YT than a full fledged console.
That's the same way that I feel. The 4k TV apps blow everything else out of the water. I watched a few blu rays today and the quality of those didn't match what I saw on Amazon video and youtube. It's amazing to think that streaming quality has surpassed physical media.
So I'm loving the 60 inch of this I got. A friend just asked me though what if Dolby vision wins out over hdr10? I know hdr 10 is what this have so...am I just fucked if that happens? I don't want to be HDDVD'd
Didn't help me any. I'm pretty irritated that there's no patch yet. It seems to screw up the connection from my TV to my soundbar too, so I often have to restart the TV. Very unhappy with the Pro so far, nothing but a hassle.Yup I'm having that issue. I'm going to try swapping out my cord and see what happens
It is dark yes. Sucker Punch did tell me they're releasing a patch soon, but how soon I don't know.
How do you guys feel about the HDR+ mode while using Netflix and other streaming apps for non HDR content?
According to Samsung, it upscales SDR to HDR.
I would need to do research on your receiver specifically but as long it's a 4k passthrough then it should be fine
