I will end my part in the discussion by saying this: What Andy Murray has done for his country today is MASSIVE. M-A-S-S-I-V-E. But from a tennis standpoint, he still has a lot of work to do.

Not good enough MIMIC, stop being such a huge salty Federer fan! ;)

I bought a dancing Olympic mascot today lol I want some team GB gear but it's so expensive

I wish the royal mint made replica gold medals as souvenirs they'd do well

Best 8 on vault from All-Around, not Team, go through.

No. Best 8 on vault from qualification go through. The qualification round decides team start order, who qualifies for all-around, who qualifies for the individual events.

The way it works this year is that you can only have 4 (out of 5) members of your team to perform on each apparatus. I don't know why they do this, it sucks.

So if you let your best all around members to perform on all apparatus during qualification, even though he or she might be the worst on that apparatus on your team, you hurt your chance of getting into the individual events. That's one of the reasons why China didn't have anyone playing on the men's all-around, they put emphasis on the individual events. The US opted to win the all-around events, which they are stronger, and so they will have less entries on the individual events.

i think when murray wins his first slam you'll see from his reaction that it means more than this gold.

still a brilliant achievement for him and team gb though. amazing performance in the match.

Right. The US Open is in roughly three weeks. From a strategic standpoint, you wouldn't want to injure yourself in the Olympics when a GS is only weeks away.

These guys are professional athletes, training every day. Based on that you'd wrap yourself in cotton wool and never leave the house except for a grand slam.

Ugh. It's so annoying when top cyclists - track and road - just let a group of their rivals go clear and expect to still win at the end. I've never seen a chase group catch a leading group.

Hello Andy.

He's a player who can compete in 16(i think) Grand Slams for every one Olympics, and a career of Grand Slams for every Olympics on home soil.

do you actually watch tennis? for him this is probably his favorite win in his career but seeing how he cried his heart out (something i admire) after losing the AO and Wimby you must be mad if you think a GS isn't more important to him and it is much more important in a career of a tennis player.

i will end this discussion now, the guys in this topic that i know watch tennis regularly all agree with me.

i will jump for joy if he wins the USO against anybody except federer.

Depends on the race. Sometimes the main group don't need to catch the break away. There's a breakaway on nearly every stage of the tour de France and they pretty much always get caught.

Clancy about to get lapped? I've lost track!

He's doing a Cavendish - just letting everyone else get in front and then not catching up. I'm sure he's doing everything he can at this point, but it just looks like he's not even trying - it's infuriating.

But never when I'm rooting for someone! D:

Do you agree that Fed would trade his 7th Wimbledon for an Olympic gold?

I do :)
