...and poet Yona Harvey, Via Time.com:

Is World of Wakanda any good? I'm not sure Black Panther has been strong enough for me to trust that Coates could do two books a the same time, let alone three.

My 4 year old son likes Black Panther because he is allowed to scratch bad guys. We have to tell him that he can't scratch his sister because she is not a bad guy

The biggest black superheroes team up together to fight crime in Harlem

I can't say that isn't contrived as fuck but I'm sure that comics have done worse

Black panther is easily one of the best written books currently but world of wakanda meh at best(I read the first two issues, currently 3 out)

The few first of all should of been a mini to be introduced after this big ass arc ends in March. Instead marvel is making another team book set in Harlem.

Basically marvel is sending it out to die like a lot of other books.

I am buying this day one because I love the characters but I am not optimistic about it. Especially given how that is one of the worst misty knight drawings I have seen

Marvel has never understood how to sell non X team books.
I mean this book is being announced literally within the same month as "Defenders"

We now got two teams that share Luke cage roaming around The Harlem area.

The timing is just weird. There are too many spinoff books coming out right now

Plus currently powerman and iron fist are fighting the good fight in Harlem right now against the major crime bosses. Trying to figure it who is a bigger threat that requires It requires the King of Wakanda

I feel like this would be more authentic if the title was "Black Panther & His Posse". Right, guys? Right...?

Can't wait to read this. <3 Coates

This book is going to be political so it will appeal to different people than the other Harlem-based books.

I mean power man and iron fist has a lot of political messages too. If he writes this book like he wrote that one issue with them then it is going to be lit.

Not to the level of what you would expect from Coates though. The strong point of PM&IF has more to do with Luke and Danny's relationship as they help the little guy.

No World of Wakanda in a word stinks, Not that the main title is much better right now.

Which sucks since I really enjoyed Black Panther, The Man without fear.

The funny thing is World of Wakanda is already at cancellation numbers so I don't know why they are trying to force out a third spin off when the second one is currently in the process of crashing and burning.

This actually isn't true. I'm curious to see how World of Wakanda does in trade though given the content of the book.

Black panther is one of the best books on the shelf. Most of the people who dislike Coates dislike because it is a political thriller rather than a BP action book.
Coates BP is not only one of Marvels best selling books but is also featured on many best of the year list

I also think it's because it's dense as fuck.

So do all black people know each other in the marvel universe?
The black hero community is actual a real thing in marvel. The heroes featured on cover and others are known to be friends in the universe.

BP actually called on their help in his own solo book

People also have a problem with how he's portraying T'Challa and Wakanda, though this take on the character is obviously popular and bringing in new fans. It's the same thing with Doctor Strange.

Dense is a good thing.

Like Sandfox said this book is definitely doing something right.
I like how T'Challa is portrayed, but I definitely think the book gets a little too heavy to the point where it feels a little drawn out. Like, it takes forever to get to the point. And there was that dream shit with Shuri, that lost me hard. It's not a bad book, but it's a lot of talking heads and it tends to lose itself in its own prose.
So do all black people know each other in the marvel universe?

Actually, yeah. For the most part. There was a recent get-together of what was essentially a black Illuminati. War Machine (James Rhodes) as a part of it, along with Storm, Black Panther, Monica Rambeau, Luke Cage, Misty Knight, Sam Wilson, and -- get this -- Blade. Pretty much the big leaders in the black superhero community.

Just as I was preparing to drop half my Marvel pull list, I'll add another book to it.

It's great to see Manifold in there, he was the real MVP the day the omniverse ended.

Coates is getting so into comic books that I'm worried it's going to affect his real book output
He was asked about this in an unrelated interview recently, and his answer was that he really wants to keep writing comics on top of his journalism and book writing. He might be writing BP but he still had time to interview Obama and write a long Atlantic magazine article about him.
I also assume these collaborations mean these other titles aren't as time consuming.

Doesn't Black Panther have better things to do than run around Harlem? I'm not reading the BP run so I might be missing some key info or be totally off here.. but he was a member of the illuminati and has a country to run.
