Men in Black Game listed (now deleted) for PS5 by Bend Studio

At first it sounded like a weird choice. I didn't think the movies had much relevance these days.

But I didn't even know it was a comic book series.

A game sounds like it could be fun if done right. I'm thinking traveling to different planets, lots of different guns, friendly and hostile alien interactions.

I always thought that MiB could work very well as an immersive sim of some kind.
Of course, if Bend is actually making this then it most certainly won't be an immersive sim, but it might be good.

Is it gonna be fixed camera like the original?

lol this could be good. A video game with aliens, badass weapons, and an awesome car by a great studio? Whats not to like. At least wait to see the game in action first.

This garbage movie is more in line with the quality of games that Bend puts out.

4 movies, 3 sucked completely and the first was also kind of cheesy, but at least ok. Hard to imagine a good game about MIB.

But losing your minds makes perfect sense now with the flashy-thing and the game fits for a cinematic 3rd person action adventure. So i guess it's true.

I am not sure about a mib game but let's see if it is true and what it looks like. Bounty hunting in games is a normal gaming feature so should be okay but unsure about the story.

It could be a new take on the franchise and it doesn't have to be connected to those movies. Liscensed games don't have to strictly use the original materials anymore.

Just like the Spiderman game by Insomniac, the upcoming James Bond game by IOI, or the Indiana Jones game by Bethesda.

Cautiously optimistic, but if done right could be good! we'll have to see if it's true. please don't suck, please don't suck, please don't suck!!

What?!
Besides that this is also technically a Marvel IP while Sony themselves produced and distributed the movies.
Marvel only owns the publishing rights to the original comics. Colombia Pictures owns MiB.

Men in Black would be perfect in a game setting. Guns, comedy, aliens.. the holy trinity of marketing. Wonder if it would be more dead space, or more ratchet and clank.

Considering how the film franchise has gone to shit I have no faith this will end up being anything good.

No thanks, either give me a sequel to says gone or syphon filter or a new IP, not this bollox.

Ok you just made it sound better than what i was thinking in my head

I guess I'll have to see it, I'm not fond of the idea though
I'm taking a big leap of faith here that's where they're pulling ideas from if true. I could see them following the Days Gone template and making it an open world Alien Bounty game

The boat has sailed on this franchise surely. The days for a AAA MIB game have long gone in my eyes. I'm sure the game would be good as days gone was functionally a decent game after the performance issues were mostly resolved by patches. I can't believe Sony would allow this to be greenlit if this is true.

This isn't something I ever wanted but now they mention it I need it. It's a licence you can have a lot of fun with if Sony is giving you the budget to do it right.

The IP bores me to be honest, it's a Sony film so I can definitely see it but the rumoured Matrix game in the other thread would have me way more excited.

Don't think this is for me really. Doesn't really sound like Sony either - when was their last licensed IP (I don't count Spider-Man as it's its own thing but understand other people might, so except Spider-Man).

You're talking about a franchise that had one great movie in 1997 and was more about alien cops hunting one big muthafucka rather than having loads of activities and shooting. Even as a 'cinematic' adventure I don't think it works really. The comedy was very much physical or scene based as well. From that era there are so many better choices - The Mummy, Judge Dredd, Stargate, Blade or starship troopers as a few examples.

Hopefully if it's true they pull it off but MiB is not a massive IP that is going to have a massive surge of excitement imo

Shoehorn some hidable grass and half assed crafting system and its well on the way to Sony level AAA.
As opposed to an always online, GAAS, grindfest filled with MTX from most of the rest of the industry?

I'll take the long grass and crafting system in that case.

Plus Demons Souls, R&C, Astrobot, Kena, Spider-man Miles Morales and Sackboy don't have any 'hidable grass'.

You're taking, like 2 games (Horizon and Days Gone) and trying to apply that to all PlayStation games....

Did people complain about the hiding grass in Tomb Raider or did they complain much about the ridiculous grates and statues in Batman games? These are industry wide tropes.... not specific to PlayStation games.

Did you complain about all the grass in A Plague Tale and its half assed crafting???

Last year, Predator Hunting Grounds. (not developed by a 1st party, though)

I tried twice to get into Days Gone, but probably lasted only a few hours before getting bored for some reason. It's strange because you'd think hordes of zombies would be guaranteed fun, but I think it was the protagonist that killed the game for me.

On topic - MIB game sounds like potential fun to me.

We're all so different. Deacon was the highlight of the game for me. Totally loved that character. Also, he was a sight for sore eyes.

A Blade game makes more sense.... there is more appetite for a game based on it and you could have Morbius make an appearance.

You could have cool vampire raves all over the city where you go in and fight massive hordes of vampires to some cool techno music with really cool lighting effects.

Car / Motorbike combat, where you can shoot or slice vampires as you drive by them.

It's either this or a new Blood Omen..... cause there are not enough vampire games.

Iron Man VR July 2020 PS4

These are niche though to be fair, especially VR. Predator I forgot about - is it PS+ this month as well?, but again it's like Evolve I guess, not really expected to be a big single player IP that Sony are known for. I should have been more specific - I guess licensed IP that they've really thrown one of their big studio's at (first parties) with real expectations of it becoming a franchise?
