Can somebody tally up all the votes. I only played witcher 3 and it's one of the best games ever for me so far on ps4, disable all the motion blur and the framerate gets much better. I don't understand why there is so much hate for the combat in witcher 3, It's better then most open world games
huh... how can you suggest one over the other when you have played only one of them?
Nah ha, that's MGS3.
Agree. After GZ, it's a huge disappointment to see the maps of TPP. Most of the places are just not that well designed or complex. Many of the bases are extremely predictable, there're no cameras and not a lot of geometry to get lost in.
I just can't see the reason for going open world if you're not going to use the great elements of open world.
I love that this thread is still going!!
Just a quick update that i got to play Witcher 3 for an hour last night and so far i REALLY love it!!!! Gonna dig in more tonite but so far im very happy with my purchase. Im still gonna get MGS5 down the line too!
If you want to take one thing away from this thread it's this. You can't go wrong with either.
60 fps open world stealth game vs rpg that have broken framerate that barely stays on 30fps with areas with 0 fps all the time, that can barely run when fog or fire is on screen.
go mgs 5

You'll probably play W3 for 125 hours, finish MGS V twice, and people in here will still be going back and forth.
Make sure you turn on the alternate movement setting in Witcher 3.
It's actually a good open world game.
So you are saying that MGSV is a bad open world game. Wow. Just wow. People is crazy.
Yes because this is the only thing to consider when deciding what game to play.
MGSV is better for jumping in quickly due to its mission structure and its less dialogue/story driven so you can accomplish a lot more in a short amount of time.
Whats that do?
It is a great game that didn't need to be an open world game.
Piece of advice, and I would not want you to miss out like a few of us did: Get to Skellige as fast as you can by sticking to the storyline moreso than the sidequests for the time being. Dropping yourself in Skellige is like immersing yourself into an entirely different game.

Well, Witcher 2 felt really limited with its contextual jumping/climbing and there wasn't much to do with Flotsam/Vergen.The same could be said about the Witcher 3.

Not really. The world of Witcher 3 is amazing to explore and adds a ton of depth and character to the overall game.
Sure, if you enjoy exploring really boring caves and whatnot.
Well at least it had places to explore.
That was pretty much a waste of time.

One man's time wasted is another man's time well spent. That was pretty much a waste of time.

Caves, towns, hidden items, world building atmosphere, etc. Don't be so bitter.
Meh, performance really isn't a problem to anyone but extremely nitpicky people. It's fine for most of the time, there are only certain parts of the game where it's slightly bigger a problem, but all-in-all the game is perfectly playable as is. Even if they fix the performance, the game would still have shitty side-content, janky & simplistic combat, horribly designed skill tree, repetitive & unimaginative quest design, all-too-often annoying horse-riding, way too much back & forth travelling and other problems. I personally consider those far worse problems than the framerate being a bit spotty here & there. You think performance is the LEAST of The Witcher's 3 problems? That's a bad opinion right there. Game is phenomenal...performance is clearly one of the few issues. You are 100% likely wrong indeed.
And most of them are boring.
Most of the towns/villages might as well be not there as it adds nothing to the game.
It's either abandoned or filled with people that has only one line of dialogue.
So what you're saying is you don't like open world games.
