Game modes
Story - the developers have said the cinematic gameplay experience will take between 15 to 20 hours to complete and is a linear experience.

Play.MindsEye - additional side activities where you play as different characters to complete short objectives. There are 5 types of Play missions - Horde Mode, Combat Missions, Races, Checkpoint Races, Drone Races

Build.MindsEye - allows players to build their own Play.MindsEye missions using the game's assets. (PC only feature).

The game is NOT an open world game ala GTA, Saints row or Watch Dogs. Its a lineair story with the world purely as a backdrop. Yes you can free roam but there really isnt anything to do.

Set your expectations. Judge the game for what it is and not for what its not.

Just saw that the Xbox day 1 patch won't be ready for release day as it's not yet passed certification in time. I can't help but get the feeling this game will be 75% off by the end of the year.

I won't be able to play until this evening after work so expect thoughts and photo dumps around 730-8PMEST :D

I'm getting a lot of Order 1886/Callisto/Days Gone vibes. All the pre hate and speculation, probable middling reviews, drama with the dev - It has (possible) future cult hit written all over it.

"Oh you never played MindsEye? It's actually pretty good." - people a year or so from now

We shall see..

I should report you for putting days gone in that list, shame on you :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

OK Leslie.

My prediction? Build a Rocket Boy lays off most of their ~400 staff (assuming they're at the same staffing level as they were when Eurogamer did their article in 2023) or shutters completely by year's end.

There are entirely too many red flags around this mess of a game. From its origins as a co-project, to the fact that no one, not even Benzies, could explain what the game is, to the lack of review copies and embargo being the same time as release, and two high level execs leaving days before launch.

If you're willing to risk your money on it, you're a braver person than I.

What? Its a third person shooter?

What are you even talking about with all that nonsense.

A chief financial officer leaving says absolutely nothing and happens all the time in big companies.

Embargo's until release date is also absolutely nothing new. Been done for years, even by greats like GTA.

I will get it on discount because I have no time for it this month. Developers going around Twitch asking people to not stream it day one is not a good indication.

I honestly think they dont want the story spoiled, because thats probably the best thing this game has going for it.

Also if you look on Twitch theres a bunch of people streaming it rn

FYI it's launch day and not a single review for the game is out yet.

It's even worse than that. Multiple outlets have stated they didn't even get review copies/codes. They have to buy it at launch like the rest of us in order to review it. 😬

Everything about this game screams "no confidence" by their developers, which is sad given they had over $350m in funding for both their Everywhere and MindsEye projects and a large team of devs across multiple physical locations.

Yeah but if a game officially launches, you have no right to ask people to not stream it. Its not a good look coming from the developers. Before official date, yes I'm behind that.

Although people can avoid spoilers by basically not watching

MMaRsu MMaRsu - you work for Build a Rocket Boy or IOI or something?
Why, because I hate to see people shitting on a developers first game, while lining up to purchase the latest Activision or Ubisoft slop?

Gtfo

People are so happy to shit on this clearly 7/7.5 game, with weird remarks like "what even is the game"????

As if you cant understand what the game is after a five minute look at the gameplay?

Actually stupid ass comments. Comparing it to the actual scam A day before. Why even?

So disrespectful

Days Gone got heavily shit on when it released and was a technical mess though.
And it's a much much better game compared to the others.

We can have a cute playable tech demo sections where you can put the others and hb2 and call them "cult classic" if you want but don't put days gone on that list, it's a crime against humanity :lollipop_squinting:

I love Days Gone and it's on my top 20 of all time. And I'm still putting it on the list so tickle my nuts

Game looks completely fine apart from the fact it has no performance mode. Looks to be doing nothing new but that's the case for most games these days. I can see why they are selling it for £55.

Not sure what is worse, you putting dg on that list or dg being one of your top 20 game ever :messenger_blowing_kiss:

You understand why I put it there right? You do remember how much that game was shit on before it came out? And during its reviews? It was a near disaster and they managed to really tighten things up and fix everything over time. Same thing happened with Callisto (even though some stuff they tweaked I wasn't on board with). MindsEye certainly appears to be somewhat in the same ballpark judging by how much its performance is being picked apart already pre patch(es). Hopefully Rocket Boy stays on top of things and improves it over time in the same way. Or who knows, maybe today's patch really will be the ultimate touch up.

I just don't share the fact that dg is anywhere near the quality of these games so even if it had a rough start, i would not put it in that list, sorry.

BUt in the end, it is your list, you can put barbie passion horses in it if you want, it just triggered me a bit because i think dg is a couple of tiers above what i consider glorified tech demos at worse and mediocre 6\10 games at best.

There would be a lot to discuss about how broken dg actually was at launch compared to actually broken games or why the media scored the game lower or how much better it looked in the first trailers compared to the other games but this is not the place nor would change your mind.

(Not considering mindseye because i didn't played the game yet but i doubt it's gonna be nowhere near dg)

I've always thought you were reasonably normal on here so I'm just going to pretend you didn't say this :messenger_tears_of_joy:
