Movies You’ve Watched Lately |OT| - 2024

Watching Lethal Weapon 1 right now ... As close to a perfect buddy cop movie as they come!
Lethal Weapon 2 though... Joe Pesci telling jokes, legendary one liners, and an evil South African diplomat engaged in theft, trafficking, and murder.

Watched Furiosa a few nights ago. Really enjoyed it.

Decided to watch the Alien films again since watching Romulus and now I'm planning to watch all the Mad Max films again.

Inside Out 2: C

I didn't hate it but found it mostly boring and I wasn't a fan of the first movie either. It did give me a few chuckles but other than that it was milktoast coming of age story with Riley entering Highschool. It was mostly meh for me

Rewatch of Prey (2022)

This actress has the chops. A great entry in the franchise. Looking forward to whatever Dan T has next.

Jackpot ⭐⭐/5 There is one redeeming factor about this movie. John Cena's character loves the Ninja Turtles and plays the theme from the first TMNT Film many times. Turtle Power.

GF loves this, so she wanted to show it to me. The film os fine, but not anything special really. It has all the tropes of a Disney/Pixar film in good and bad, offers very little surprises. At least the characters don't start singing from time to time.

One of the few movies that I will actually rewatch, which says a lot for me. Incredible audiovisual feast from start to finish. Themes on morality, human error, logic, purpose, science and religion, fanaticism... I do think it's plausible there is no pinbacker, but really we may be witnessing capa's descent into insanity from the immensity of the mission and the proximity to the sun. Movie from 20 years ago puts today's CGI to shame. The costume design is also top notch IMO

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

dumb.

scale

enjoyed this, despite too much cgi aliens and a predictable ending

some good chemistry from these two, but frankly nothing can save a plot this stupid

Inside Out 2 - I thought the movie was OK. I know teens can have anxiety, but it isn't really anything that I can relate too. I am of the mind talking about how much people with anxiety gives them a built in excuse for their actions. Pixar has lost its shine but it can still create impressive animation. ⭐⭐⭐/5

My brother is visiting with a few of my nieces and nephews, and they decided to put on Madame Web and crank up my surround sound system. I have a sub to like every streaming service so I am not even sure which one it is on. Probably Disney+

Anyways, what an aneurysm this plot and dialog is. I am watching it and it just makes no fucking sense. These girls do not speak like actual human beings. And costume department - you had one job when it comes to Sydney Sweeney. How did you screw this up?

Why did you subject your family to this?

Yo, that sounds like the worst day ever.

It bothers me that you mention the PG department store ads in this twisted manner but neglect to mention the pods with Matrix-tier realistic experiences for sale and people being apprehended and put on ice for crimes they have yet to commit.

Airport (1970) - Back when Boeing could build planes worth a damn, a plane gets stuck in snow on a runway, a suicide bomber boards a flight to Rome, and the pilots manage to land it on that runway after the bomb explodes in the lavatory and compromises the tail thousands of miles out. Also, Dean Martin plays a pilot and has an affair with a young stewardess. Entertaining but not rewatchable due to several very weak plot elements and some overacting by supporting cast. 7/10

Hollywood is churning out crap nowadays, figured it’s time to start catching up on old classics that I’d somehow missed out on.

Close Encounters was awesome! I enjoyed every minute of it. It’s paced perfectly and constantly made me want to know what would happen next. Some parts are creepy and eerie but mostly it had a really positive vibe to it and left me feeling good. You don’t see this kind of sincere, optimistic movie nowadays.

One of the first DVDs I got

The others being Magnolia, The Phantom Menace and Donnie Darko
I remember the bloom effect of the movie being a bit strange at the time, I don't mind now for some reason.

Could have sworn that I had TPM on VHS and I always fast forwarded to the light saber show down. I was still renting movies well into the 2000s.

I'm about to watch Maxxxine tonight. I hated the first movie but ended up watching Pearl and loving it so maybe this will be good. A24 crap has ended up being a great change for me.

I still have my VHS copy of TPM and Magnolia

That was back in 1999 and I was a freshman in highschool

The only vhs tapes I still have are a couple of anime these days. It's weird how all of the vhs tapes disappeared for awhile but I do see them now starting to make a comeback in the used movie and comic book stores.

Welp off to go see alien again. That Romulus movie made me really want to watch it.

Also I have never seen The Big Hit. Never even heard of it until today.

Hardcore

Also known as Hardcore Henry. This Russian experimental action film was filmed completely with Go Pro cameras, where the whole movie is shot from the perspective of the main character. He has no dialogue, so the only way he can show emotion is through action. It was fun to watch for a while, but by the end of it, I was quite bored by the non-stop action scenes. There was almost nothing else to this film. At least the audio commentaries provide interesting information.

Days like these...

Have a Blessed Day
Part 1 was ok but I didn't like 2 and 3 so much. I have high hopes for the next part in 2025. It's supposed to have dropped the fount footage style, which thrills me even more.
I recently watched horror in the high desert it was pretty good if you like found footage horror. Reminded a little of Lake Mungo but not nearly as depressing. It has 2 sequels that I've heard are pretty good.

The Hurricane Heist

For some reason, many of the actor in thus movie looked familiar, but in reality, they were completely unknown to me. The film is relatively fun, although it doesn't really make that much sense. It's good for one time if you switch off tour brain, bit probably wouldn't last a second viewing.

Tubi is such a great trove of entertaining trash films. This is one. Man on a futuristic KITT like motorcycle is tasked with toppling the oppressive Nazi Omega regime in a post apocalyptic world with rolling green pastures. The main guy has almost no charisma but he's got good hair. So much dumb action, there's always something to laugh at. One scene has the guy getting recruits by beating everyone up, from women to midgets. Donal Pleasence reprises his role as Ernst Blofeld.
