AWW YIISSSSS

Best motherfuckin sport on the planet.

Both Chicago teams at the top of the charts. From the perception on this board, that would be impossible because everyone is too busy dodging bullets.

I do agree that 16 teams are overkill. The NBA used to have best of five for the opening round, but they switched to best of seven---a mistake in my opinion.

Was best of 3the then changed to 5 then 7.

Think race and stars out this year are to blame. Canes live are great though. NBA ramps up come feb honestly. TV money is king and NBA kills in that respect. NFL had trouble selling out playoff games and thats the biggest NA league.

Let's be honest.

No

The NBA is almost as boring to watch as baseball. NCAA basketball is so much better it's not even funny.

Lost your mind NCAA has such low quality its not even funny anymore tv ratings prove that. Butler vs Uconn that one year in the title game didn't break 60 points if I remember.

Pro is a different game that when you know whats going on is great come Feb / Mar.
Have you watched Euroleague or NBA lately?

The best players in college most of the time can't even get their own shot in the NBA. (Reddick, Hummels, Morrison, list goes on.) Those guys dominated college. Guys come from all over the world to play with the best lol.
Same for NHL honestly. NCAA is a sad shell of what It used to be. Hell up the street/ city Duke had to shrink the student section cause they can't fill anymore. The quality can't be denied man.

Maybe some don't like the pro game but talent and excitement wise its not close live or on tv.

Yup, four rounds of best of 7 is better than a single game as the better team usually wins, less flukes.

Four rounds of 7 is terrible, so is letting more than half of your league into the playoffs. It makes the playoffs last way too long and makes the regular season meaningless as a result. So many teams in the NBA just coast through the first half of the year comfortable basically locking up any of the top 4 spots later in the year. The first round being a 7 game series makes the playoffs drag on too long, and it all but completely eliminates upsets in the early rounds, both of which are awful for the viewer.

I have zero interest in the NBA the last 10 or more years. Was a huge fan, not sure what changed honestly. Am a huge NCAA fan though.

NHL is the opposite. I love watching it, but almost none of my games are easy to watch. I am from Detroit but live in Colorado now. I think the NHL needs to make it easier to watch games. For me to watch the wings I have to buy NHL center ice for $180 a season...or about $2 a game. I bought it the season before last but just couldnt justify it to my self this year. I think if it was more accessible, viewership would grow a good bit. But right now its too much for me to be a fan here...sure as hell won't be going to see the Avs!

The product of the NBA is not good. Most of these teams are always building and building and building for the future and it never comes. The same teams are always gonna end up winning the Finals, though I love the fact that the Lakers have won 1/3 of the last 15 Finals.

The one thing that bugs me about the NBA is that there's no parity in the league. You have the Heat, Lakers, OKC, etc....then everybody else.

What league has true parity? Never stopped College Football and when have the Panthers or Browns won a title. The Pacers built team back up. But agree that teams having to wait so long to rebuild is an issue. Might take 50 years for Bobcats to be great lol.

Hockeystreams. They're way cheaper than that and the feeds they get are in HD. I haven't used it, but a ton of people in the NHL thread here on GAF rave about it.

Lets be honest.

NBA > Professional League of Legends > NHL

The bigger concern for me is the injury problems in the NBA at the moment. It seems like half of the good players in the league are injured.

I was under the impression that the NHL was really struggling with TV ratings and that the NBA was very popular world wide. Not that surprised that people don't go to watch NBA games, the regular season is pretty boring because they play so many damn games.

Let's be honest.

The only basketball that matters is college.

lol NBA is a global sport... meanwhile NHL is popular where it snows

West coast would like a word with you.

My thoughts exactly.

.

20 years ago lol and thats a stretch. Miss the old ACC days though Im 33 for the record.

Hockey has some diehard fans though my old college circle lives NHL. After getting them to give NBA a chance a few enjoy the league again. Choice is king I guess and other factors matter. Enjoy NBA though just wish so many guys were not hurt.

Go Canes.

How dare you!

The Nashville and Tampa Bay tickets have to be pretty cheap though. I'm still mad about the attendance at Avs games though, it's improved this year, but there are too many fair weather fans in Colorado.

Lightning Tickets are $30 for the cheap seats compared to $15 for the Rays cheap seats. The difference is the Rays play in a bad stadium in a bad location. if the Rays played in downtown Tampa instead of St Pete they would do a lot better.

Panthers winning this year.

Aren't basketball arenas on average larger than Hockey ones?

I believe they're usually the exact same arena in most dual markets...

and when have the Panthers or Browns won a title

Panthers winning this year.

4 games under .500 is winning?

The Carolina Panthers of NFL, the team being referenced here, are 12-4, so 8 games over .500... which is quite impressive over 16 games.

The real problem is the length of the regular season. I don't have any issues with the amount of teams that get in, but when all the best players keep dropping like flies, then maybe it's time to scale back a bit ...

Definitely gray market, not sure I like the idea of paying just some place. Would like to give the NHL the money...just not so much of it.

Yeah have fun seeing any fans at a Florida Panthers game.

An English teacher of mine made an effort to watch every single Florida Panthers game, in the stadium or on TV. Despite brain cancer and a divorce, he hasn't missed a game since 2001.

I couldn't name five players from five different NBA teams, I could name someone on every NHL team, but that proves absolutely nothing.

The NBA Finals averaged 17.7 million viewers. Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals (the deciding game) drew 8.16 million viewers.

They need more data, man.

The Miami Heat destroyed the NBA. No one wants to watch a bunch of unlikable characters team up and win by virtue of loading out talent onto one roster.

Parity will never exist in the NBA because bigger media markets will always be more appealing to the better players. There's also the fact that a lot of the owners and their front offices either aren't willing to spend money because they aren't making the money of a team like the Knicks(or the owner could just be cheap like the Bulls owner) as well as some General Managers just being incompetent when it comes to building team.

Right now the NBA is suffering from a crazy amount of injuries to key players, the fact that a lot of the eastern players are coming to the west where a majority of the properly ran franchises are, and a lot of teams are tanking(and possibly faking some of the injuries) in order to get a good pick in a really hyped up draft.

Their core players are starting to get up in age, could possibly leave for money and there are a lot of young teams that could challenge them soon so I doubt they will be too big of a worry for too much longer.

Yeah NBA is not in trouble thats more than World series also. Hope Panthers (NFL) win this year but not holding my breath. Also hope Canes make playoffs.
