Nintendo Direct announced for September 12 (6AM PT, 9AM ET, 2PM UK)

Prime 4 is going to be delayed to next year because Nintendo wants it to compete with chesthair against GTA 6 instead of France Fantasy 33, Your Package Has Stranded Too, and A Bug's Life simulator. :messenger_hushed:

I just hope it's not 45min of 3rd party games and 15min first party, I honestly couldn't care less about 3rd party games I can or already have played on another system that look and plays miles better then switch , I bought a switch for Nintendo games, hopefully some surprise Nintendo games shown off

Metroid Prime 4 release date for sure. Something Mario-related and Luigis Mansion 4 maybe? Think Super Mario Sunshine for GC probably will get a september release date announced as well.

I just want to be surprised. And I want Xenoblade Switch 2 patches. I think it'll be a fun Direct. Hope everyone has fun watching tomorrow.

Hopes & Dreams

Prime 4 Beyond is not Delayed. Releases in less than a month.

Smash Bros. Ultimate is getting a Switch 2 Edition with new characters, Subspace Emissary like Story Mode, and completely rebalanced and restructured online play.

Metroid Prime Trilogy announced, out now.

At least a dozen "quality" Switch 1 games are receiving free Switch 2 updates today such as Hyrule Warriors series, Xenoblade series, etc,.

Mario Galaxy 2 remake 2026

New Punch Out 2026

Metroid VI 2026

Sega Dreamcast & Sega Saturn Classics added to NSO.

Star Wars Rogue Squadron series announced for NSO.

Too much of their lineup so far has been Switch 2 Editions. I'd like more new games. Or enhanced ports of old games like Galaxy 2. Not a three year old Kirby game.

This better not be a damn Marion only show
If it were, we'd know ;). Their whole culture of communication is managing expectations. 48 hours notice instead of the usual 24, 60 minute length... and general Direct branding. It's gonna be a big one. Bigger than we've had in a while.

I hope they do some cool shit for Mario's 40th. I'd love to see the return of Mario 35 (only 40 now). And I'll say it again, I want Mario Maker 3 basically more than anything.

Who knows, maybe Mario RPG 2? Maybe Galaxy 3? 3D World sequel?

I just want as much Mario as they're willing to fill my veins with. The old man is over the hill now, so it's time to celebrate!

I wouldn't mind an hour with Marion.

Anything from Nate's new podcast that he's uploaded an hour or so ago? Listening now.
Just saw a YT video that claims Nate said the Fire Emblem game is a "deluxe edition" of Three Houses. Don't know if this just means remastered graphics and some new features, or what, but that's massively disappointing for me.

We've been eating very, very well as Mario RPG fans ever since 2023 so my guess is something Mario RPG is on the way, and the remake from 2023 was a way to reintroduce turn-based Mario RPGs to younger generations, since Paper Mario was ruined like 18 years ago at this point. TTYD remake was great step in the right direction, but now we need a true follow-up/ Paper Mario 3 and a 60fps patch for TTYD. But yes, tangent aside, Mario RPG 2 would be amazing. Which coincidentally, was what the original Paper Mario on 64 was called before the name changed! They'd have to assemble a team of former/retired devs to make it. But they made Brothership happen, so anything is possible.

Its Nintendo, deluxe edition in their category usually means its going to be either a direct port (nsmbwu) or a direct port with extra content (sm3dw, mk8)

If it's real, it's almost certainly going to be a Switch 2 Edition, since Three Houses is already a Switch game.

That's fine, I guess. I enjoyed Three Houses, but never finished it. Don't really think I have an interest in a visual upgrade and extra content, but it's held up as one of the best Fire Emblem games, so I'm sure there's an audience for the upgrade.

I cant be the only one who sees those fan made '___ in unreal' and immediately think "this looks like soulless trash"

Hyper realism in gaming means nothing if theres not an art style being applied to it.
Yeah and that's why Nintendo shows that the latest graphics isn't the end all be all of gaming.

Man I want at least one C or B tier Nintendo franchise to get the Donkey Kong treatment. Big budget with the weight of an S tier team behind it.

Though I suppose if such a game does exist, like Donkey Kong, it would be THE game shown and not Zelda, Mario or Smash. Nah 2 can exist at once. Kart and Bananza shared the spotlight after all.

Just announced in the Nintendo Today app, a general direct happening on this Friday September 12, 6am PST / 9am EST. 60 minutes of updates, should be a good one!

I'm always glad for the included European time in the title. Here, have a very happy Finnish smiley: 😐

I really hope the movie doesn't eat up more than ten minutes. I have a bad feeling though.

The original movie was like 90 minutes long. They're not going to want to spoil a substantial chunk of it. The most we'll get is a cast reveal and a trailer. It would be hard for that to be much over 5 minutes.

The dedicated Mario Movie direct was like 8 minutes long. I wouldn't expect more than 5 minutes, and I'm actually interested in seeing that myself anyways...

Which would make zero sense to do these days when they already have a specific NS2 Edition line of games. Bizarre.

Bro why wouldn't you just listen or watch Nate's podcast. 🤦‍♂️ Watching a YouTuber who listened to Nate's podcast ffs 😂 this is what we do now, I guess

Lol, late 2029 at the earliest.

Yeah, Nintendo's first priority is going to be creating a stripped back "lite" revision that they can sell for at least $100 less than the current Switch 2.

The current model's price is fine for enthusiasts and one-per-household buyers but eventually they're going to want to get the system in the hands of younger children and go after the "everyone in the family has their own" level of market saturation that the Switch reached.

A Pro/OLED model is at least four years away.

Yep, Lite model is probably coming in fall 2027 (which I would say November, but maybe they would want to avoid the PS6 launch?).

So it's called the Super Mario Galaxy movie and thus some kind of Mario Galaxy game is surely happening. Hopefully at the very least a remaster of Galaxy 2. And hopefully very little of the Direct is taken up with a movie when they could just do a separate Movie Direct later on.
