Nintendo Direct | Xenoblade 3 announced

Again, what do western games have to do with my critique of the main character design in XC3?

Is your assumption that I favor western games or western character design?
Thats not my point, my point is everything is "generic" because everything is already been done before, so to me "generic" criticism is meaningless.

No matter what they do some will call it generic.

With their outfits looking pretty normal by jrpg standards I wouldn't be surprised if they went back to viewable equipment like Xenoblade 1.

Xenoblade DE was my first exposure to that game (started the series with 2), but that was one of the few things I liked more than 2. I'm always a sucker for being able to change my look. I'd be all for a return of that.

Best OST : Xenoblade 2

Unpopular opinion i guess? It resonated with me a lot more than the other games. Peoples are always comparing the field music (although Land of Morytha is pure fire), but the music during cutscenes was so good.
All of them are great.
Hope we got more banger like this one

Yeah I hope they go back to changeable equipment. Even in this trailer you see the MC with different outfits.

Imagine if we get an expansion that takes place when the two worlds merge.
Oh, an expansion is all but confirmed, considering how hard nintendo is leaning on meaty DLC.

Thinking about it now, the DLC might be put inside the Expansion Pack too. The subscription value is increasing with every direct.

It's refreshing to see proper trailer with proper gameplay footage and coming out same year.

Other devs should take note, announce your games when it's ready to announce.

I fucking love how they announced this announced this 6 months before release. So tired of CG trailers for games that are 4 years away.

This right here is how every game announcement should be:
Launching in less than a year, trailer is a mix of cinematics with actual gameplay and you know it's almost definitely representative of the final product because, again, the game is launching in less than a year.

You see there are only two kinds of games: western games and JRPGs. Anybody who offers criticism of the JRPG genre is really just trying to push their pro-western gaming agenda. You people have been persecuting the JRPG genre since the early 90s and we're sick of it.

What this all means is that when you say something mean about JRPGs, the only logical response is to retaliate by saying something mean about western games.

Because Monolith Soft don't prematurely announced their games when development hast even started.

How many times we saw trailer for Good & Evil? And still not clear if the game is canceled or not.

Yea but honestly, props to Monolith soft for being so efficient. I'm floored at their output quality and pace.

Retro studio should take note.

Ok, we'll let me elaborate then.

In a world where giant robots and glowing swords and magic and monsters and legends influence the everyday lives of its citizens, there are also pleated pants.

It breaks the world when an evergreen design such as this one is lazily tossed into the universe. This mc could just as easily be in any of the modern final fantasy games as an NPC or even a background character in an anime fighting game.

Just not what I would have expected from the Xenoverse given the unique looking characters it has delivered in the past.

I remember when Xenogears and Xenosaga coming out and I remember how people also complained the game is "weird" or "anime".

There is no winning here no matter what they do people will complain about character design one way or another.

Why are the boobs smaller tho??

Not every character in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 was a titty monster like Dahlia.

Morag has no tits and neither did Nia who was built about like the featured Gormotti character in the XC3 trailer. A bunch of blades had relatively average sized boobs then you had the heavy-hitters. We might run into plenty of offensive and scary boobs in the game.

The Entia chick is hiding hers under a vest.

I'm looking forward to seeing how her rifle/staff works too.

Interesting Gormott looking girl on the right is also Flash Easter like Nia and on the left is straight up Blade, does that mean Blade system from 2 is back?

Edit: We also have Entia race back from original game.
I hope the blade system is back I personally loved it outside of the RNG and never getting KOSMOS in 2 100+ hour game saves.

A refined blade system with more 100% blade core crystals would be welcome.

In XC2 you get some of the rare Blades from quests, which how it should have been done instead of getting them randomly from crystal.

This news made my day. And like last time its coming out in a timely manner. This year is absolutely stacked with great titles. So many rpgs. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 got me back into Jrpgs in a big way. Such a good game. I loved everything about it apart from the gatcha system. And this new one man, ho boy I'm gonna have to play through XBC 1 again. Maybe even the second.

Never heard complaints about Xenogears or Xenosaga except from Takahashi-san himself. (That said, I may have tuned out the criticisms, I personally believe that Xenogears is one of the all time greats)

With XB1, XBX, XB2, and Torna, I heard some of the typical anime/shonen complaints but felt that the characters were grounded in the world they lived in. Even Rex's costume made sense based on the connections to scavenging/~deep sea diving.

Still very excited about the game. I have 100% every Xeno game with the exception of saga 2 and XBX and will probably do the same with this one.

I would say play the game first before judging the character designs, when XC2 first announced I was actually very harsh on its character design but after playing the games I end up loving them.

I'll be more monochromatic with my opinions in the future. 😂

Well I can still judge them now, but am totally going to play the game anyway and may, possibly, hate the character designs less after all is said and done. 🙂

Yeah the blade system was great. It was the main reason I like the combat much better in 2.

But please no stupid Gacha system to get them. And let me level them up by just using them in battle instead of doing shitty fetch quests

The single thing that kills these games for me is the fetch quests. Instead of a 100+ hours game i wish they would narrow them down to a 30 to 40 hour main story with a dozen or so meaningful side quests.

The new title scene is chilling...The Mechonis Sword and the dead, decaying body or Uraya. Really gives off an aura of finality for the series as a whole. So much to speculate on….All but confirmed that the worlds of the two have merged as was speculated, and I get the sense theres a war between the people of Bionis and Alrest. Can't fucking wait!

It was so confusing to me why they chose to do it this way….it was like a loot box but without micro transactions. I have other criticisms of the game In comparison to the first, but this was just weird.

I never finished Xenoblade 2, it turned into a grind. And I never tried the standalone expansion released for 2. I wonder if I should play the expansion before starting 3.

The trailer was a bit underwhelming but I guess it was more of a teaser. I hope the combat system is more like XB2. XB1 was the same from start to finish.

That's one of my criticism of the 1st game and why absolutely loved combat in 2nd game.

I almost screamed in joy when I saw this reveal. Xenoblade 2 is one of my favorite games ever, and this seemingly continues from it, and maybe even features old character. Bring it on, September can't arrive soon enough. I sense another masterpiece from Monolith Soft.

Should I play xb1 or xb2 first?
I think xb2 is a prequel or something, from what I've been able to gather.
I played maybe 50 hours of XB2 and loved it, the cutscenes are some of the best I've seen in gaming, atleast the storyboarding. I played very little of xb1 on the wii, I really like the combat of xb1 a lot.

No the second game is NOT prequel, play both in order.

You can play either or, but definitely play XB1 Definitive Edition after or before XB2 if you have the chance. You'll get another fantastic JRPG under your belt (I love XB2 the most between the two) and it's not a prequel.

Looks nice overall but i don't like the character designs. They look like they came from a F2P korean MMO or something. And hope it has a consistent framerate this time.

I still dont get why it is not risky to develop a completely new xenoblade game, but to risky / costly to port xenoblade chronciles x to the switch. With this announcement im happy and sad at the same time. :)
