Nintendo Direct | Xenoblade 3 announced

Probably the only good thing to come out of the boring direct full of ports and sports.

Characters designs leave much to be desired but it's reminiscent of OG Xenosaga character designs.

Pyra/Mythra are probably one of the best designs in Xenoblade to date.

I'm rather disappointed with all the ports we are getting we still have no XCX port for Switch. Guess it won't sell like Xenosaga I-III won't sell.

They missed the opportunity to name it:

Nah Pyra/Mythra still the Queen. High Entia girl has nothing on them.

Happy for xenoblade fans that were waiting for this.

I tried to love xb2 but even my love for anime and big boobs wasn't enough to endure more than 20 hours.

I think big boobs still there

skip to 50 seconds mark on the trailer, she's wearing dark clothes, so it's kinda hard to see

It's not really about size or whatever, it's that they've done everything they can to make the designs non-titillating. Like how every western female character has to have relaxed fit jeans and an unflattering tank top. This is the JP version of that.

Did you notice, that on the feet the chars have glowing light.. i think monolith is hiding sth, which belongs next to the feet in the artwork. A pet, or sth, whicg spawns in battle...

I hate the original character design from Xenoblade, I think the modern one fits better.

I hope the game will implement a proper day/night cycle this time. The old one from Xeno2 (but also XenoX) was effective but fake. I also hope they hire the same composers, I loved Xeno2 OST.

FTFY...

I see many characters who clearly are ancestors or something to previous games main characters/Villains.

Nia, Melia, Van Dam, Akhos, Amalthus... Who else have I missed?.
Big old man with and eye patch left eye @ 40 seconds. I believe that is the might Zeke Von Genbu, Bringer of Chaos, mostly known as Zeke and often addressed as the Zekenator.

Loving how characters design and music are already Xenoblade brand essentials, I loved them, I'm more on serious anime styles so I think this is an improvement from 2, that's why I liked 1 more than 2 but I think 2 and DE models are totally on spot, and this is definitely evolving from it <3

Looks amazing. And it appears Monolith Soft has toned down on the big titted girls. Cool.
Aye, I love big tits as much as the next man, but not in my Xeno games.
Catering to coomers (starting in XBC2) has harmed the Xeno franchise, but I'll do my best to look past it.

cool maybe portable mode will now aim at something higher then youtube resolution in 2003
You know it won't
Xenoblade games look awful on the actual Switch(and they can't even be bothered to port X) its a very big deal for the system and far behind other third and first party games, if BotW2 for example looked like that on handheld mode it would be rightfully scorned, but we will see

Its gonna look very pretty on the Switch 2 though

I call these "muh hardware limitations"
Both Capcom and Monolith Soft are master at giving you beautiful visuals even on weakest systems and in all honestly that impresses me more than high tech graphics on powerful system.

It takes talent produce beautiful visuals even with system's limitations

Hyped as fuck for this, Xenoblade 2 was amazing....i will admit my guilt that I still haven't completed Xenoblade Chronicles 1.....I really need to get back to that.

Definitely, I am blown away with what they can do on this outdated hardware. Actually Xenoblade X was even more impressive running on Wii U.

Still though, it hurts my soul a little playing these games at 720p 30 FPS on my 65 inch OLED. Handheld mode is also pretty bad. They use all the same graphical settings as docked mode except they dynamically lower the resolution to maintain 30 FPS. That approach just does not work well for this style of game IMO, where you are mostly playing zoomed out, running around in a large intricate environment.

Not expecting Nintendo to compete directly against PS5 or anything, but it would be nice if these games didn't feel like they're asking for a little more power than the hardware can put out.

Y no thread for Front Mission and other Direct stuff btw >_>

Front Mission is big, especially knowing 2 is also coming, it's the first PS game and the precursor to 3 everyone was introduced to the series with plus it will likely fix all the issues that had compared to 3 (lesser visuals and the fancy attack animations with dodges etc. slowing down the pace).

Is it necessary to play the first two Xenoblades to understand the story of Xenoblade 3?
I say you should play them, you get much more out of the story if you do and XC1&2 are great games and worth playing in my opinion.

1 & 2 are basically fully independent stories but there is a link between them. From what I can tell, XC3 seems to have characters & connections from both games. Hard to say at this point but my guess is you will get a lot more out of XC3 if you play the first two.

Danjin doing some extreme mental gymnastics to defend the character designs. They're boring bro lmao. Xenoblade 1 was plain but believable, Xenoblade 2 are anime but they have strong detail. What key design points do these designs even hold? MC looks like the MC of SMT IV had all style snatched from him.

Yeah the playable character designs are incredibly bland. The game will still be good though.

Out of them all High Entia girl is probably the best out of the bunch and is probably Melia's descendant.

But we will see. I'm curious about the battle system and if Blade's are making a comeback. So far I'm not seeing them.

Are they available on Switch?

Oh no, how will we enjoy the game without amazing characters like:
xenoblade-shocked-face.jpg
LOL XC1 and XCX had some derpy-ass faces, that's for sure.

But IDK, maybe I'm just a boomer, but I think a lot of times, trying to translate anime into 3D has made everything look too same-y. Usually it either looks like ugly low budget trash or Tales of/Korean MMO type stuff. It all sort of blends together.

Some examples of games that managed to avoid this fate IMO: SMT, Nier, Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest.

Xenoblade 1 character faces looked like ass (and people blamed the Wii for it, lol), the remaster on Switch makes them decent but there's still the super ridiculous and naff armor designs on top of them sadly. Worst part of the game.

3's design looks much more sensible so hopefully it's not ruined by the custom gear on top itself (although bad gear design is no excuse to not have them show on characters at all or something, that's not any kind of a solution either).

Speaking of how they look in game mind, the 2D art is alright in most cases, given their "default" clothes offering some semblance of personality and all.

Well, you can change the appearance so there a solution if you don't like the designs of your best gear.

Watching the trailer reminds me I need to go play that Xenoblade Chronicles: Future Connected after-game (whatever it was called) that was included with the Switch version.

Was gonna play it after finishing the first game, but got kinda burned out on it after putting in 80 hours... Seems like a good time to jump back in.
