Yeah the world has a lot of empty areas. A zelda game with lots of distance between towns makes it more real to me. Skyrim had a lot of those areas too and everyone loved Skyrim

Empty area is fine. You can't pack every square foot with non-stop enemies and secrets. Sometimes you need to enjoy the journey, climb a hill, walk through a dark forest, or look down from the mountain.

As long as there's interesting unique content in the world (unlike Skyrim) then it'll be great.

Considering I even enjoyed riding around in shadow of the colossus despite there being literally nothing I don't see why I wouldn't enjoy it in Zelda. Then again, I didn't play many open world games so far.

Shadow Of The Colossus is secretly one of the best and most elegant open-world game designed. Not a single meaningless fetch quests in sight and the perfect size for the world.

The funniest thing about this is that when devs actually do pack a lot of shit in every square foot (Assassin's Creed) people complain anyway because there's just too much and it isn't fun. A good balance between quality content and large areas to give a sense of journey is what makes an open world great, and that's what Aonuma needs to achieve. Then again, Zelda is an adventure, and it should have (and most definitely will have) its own "twist" on the "big open world" formula. Don't expect this to play like Skyrim or The Witcher, it will be its own thing as it's supposed to be.

I hope that y'all enjoy it! :)

It feels like there's such little hype for Nintendo at E3 this year. I know it's because they have no conference/digital event or NX. They've killed so much hype it sucks :(

As a Nintendo fan, I have almost no interest in this E3. It saddens me.
Every year I would watch Nintendo fans on YouTube and on gaming websites make their predictions for what announcements Nintendo may have. This year it's been quiet, nobody is really making predictions. It feels like all the life was sucked out of the room this year.

Good, save everything for the NX reveal. There wont be any other company to talk about and all interest goes into NX. Im waiting for that to truly be hyped by Nintendo with new games. This E3 always was and will remain my designated Zelda U day. I've been waiting to damn long for this game I deserve it. Shit.

You and me both, buddy. Once I came to terms with no NX at E3, I was fine. Give me tons of Zelda next Tuesday and something to look forward to later in the year (the NX reveal).

Oh trust me I'm hyped as hell for Zelda U and Pokemon S/M.

I want Nintendo to succeed with the NX and I think it's a great idea for them to have their own Spaceworld event or something like it this year to reveal the NX. The hype will be through the roof. All eyes will be on them and predictions for it will be countless. I can't wait for the day Kimishima says the reveal date. I hope it's soon!

As a Nintendo fan, I'm already expecting this E3 to be better than the last.

Agreed. Last year the whole "no Zelda" thing sucked all the pre-E3 hype out of it for me, and then when they didn't manage to sneak in anything terribly interesting it was really just underwhelming.

Seeing as how Nintendo was willing to bank their entire E3 on Zelda U they must be really confident of it, and that gets me quite excited.

last year's presentation was very bad IMHO (curiously enough a friend of mine liked it) but at least the Treehouse guys managed to save the day.

Treehouse Live was one of the best decisions Nintendo has taken recently - especially 'cause the guys are clearly passionate and (obv) knowledgeable about the games they're showing. Fun stuff.

I still haven't forgotten about the dead grandma joke during a Mario Party showing on the first Treehouse Live, lol

I remember that guy was force to apologize a few minutes later

Yeah, this year is automatically better than last year because of Zelda. Pokemon S&M is huge for me too, but atleast we've seen more of that game compared to Zelda U/NX.

I think to celebrate all this Zelda and E3 event hype I'm gonna have to double down on some good old Zelda game playing...buy some figurines, maybe a plush or two, and watch the event with my homemade knitted Link hat.
The time is now to go full nerd.

The farther I get into Twilight Princess HD, the more I want Zelda U to literally be Skyrim with a Zelda skin on it.

I'm not having a great time.

If you're not having a great time with TP, give WW a try. If you're not having a great time with that either, leave the series. Just don't expect Zelda becoming Skyrim to find support by many people.

I forgot how it ended. Was that Bayo in smash?
No Bayo in smash was in December? Where have you been?

Last years Direct ended with people singing mario songs and federation force. Dont forget Iwata was sick, we didnt know that and came out on Twitter and publicly apologize for the Direct because everyone complained it and ended up passing away a month later :/

I actually really enjoyed Skyrim, but come on this is Nintendo. There's a reason they're so unique. They have a certain "thing" to their games. They will do an open world Zelda game with their spin on it. It could borrow from some current open world games, but Nintendo will put that Nintendo flair into the game.

My god we're so close to seeing it!

I've not played Skyrim so I can never comment on the comparison. I just think if you like Skyrim play Skyrim, if you like Zelda play Zelda. No need to make one like the other when at the moment we're serving two tastes rather than just trying to please one.

I already beat Wind Waker HD long ago and I thought it was worse than Twilight Princess! And no way am I leaving the series, I still remember how much I had a blast with my fav Zelda titles (Zelda II, Legend of Zelda, and Triforce Heroes respectively). I just hate how much of my time is wasted in massively long and tedious dungeons that take me hours to complete with extremely slow and frustrating puzzles. And besides, I've played a majority of them, no reason to leave now (the only ones I haven't played are one of the Oracle games, Crossbow Training, Minish Cap, Spirit Tracks, and I think that's it).

It seems like it's a problem that the 3D Zelda games that aren't Majora's Mask have (well... Majora's Mask has it too, wish its dungeons were MUCH smaller and less overall).

I just want a giant overworld with a ton of micro dungeons with little to no Zelda puzzles (or at the very least a puzzle difficulty select) and an emphasis on combat and sidequests. Which is why I thought Skyrim ROCKED. The dungeons were fun and never overstayed its welcome, all of the sidequests were super streamlined and I never got lost (getting lost is by far my least favorite part in any game by far), and I felt like a badass in every turn. I felt like a badass in some Zelda games (ZII and Hyrule Warriors definitely), but it's so hard in the later 3D Zelda titles because of their agonizingly slow pace.

And that's why Majora's Mask is my fav 3D Zelda game. I hate its dungeons too, but at least it had less of them. Everything outside of the dungeons, though? Awesome stuff! Loved everything about Clock Town and its people.

Hey, as far as I'm concerned, my favorite flavor of Zelda hasn't been served in almost 30 years... unless you count the Adventure Time game that came out recently. That was alright. Zelda's taste transformed a long time ago and that's fine, but I would either prefer its taste to either continue the direction its going radically into something like Skyrim or revert back. But then I guess the argument becomes one of purity politics as to what is the "correct" version of Zelda, which is honestly everything.

Right.

Its funny cause you see people make a new thread every week about how they have become jaded of gaming. Probably because everything they playing has become so similar and homgenized they get a sense of, been there done that for every game they play.

Hey guys I know you might not believe this, it's a bit far fetched, but I've heard rumours that this Zelda might include chests containing exciting items such as the hookshot, bombs and a bow and arrow. The master sword will feature in the game, as will Ganon. You will be able to collect heart pieces to expand your life total. NPC speech will be excitingly rendered in glorious 1080p fully aliased text.

Can't wait for these bombshells.

Sorry, but it sounds like what you want then isn't a zelda game. Other series have that market tackled quite well, and zelda can't be that without dropping a lot of things that fans do like.

I'd actually be glad if Ganon/Ganondorf is in the game.

I want to see a new design of him in glorious HD.

I need to hear it from 10k first to believe it.

You need to get vetted by Bish asap before I can trust you.

My sources also claim there will be a variety of dungeons from which you will need to collect a number of artifacts that must be combined for massive damage. These dungeons will be loosely based on the classical elements such a fire, wind, water, green foresty stuff and perhaps.. even time itself.

They also claimed that there will be some kind of item, possibly related to music, that will enable some form of fast travel of the overworld. Sounds a little far fetched to me tbh, they might not be so credible after all.

Part of me wants Ganon in the game because we haven't seen him in a console game since TP, but part of me wants another fresh villain.

Why not both!? (j/k you can't have both, since one will have always just been controlled by Ganon). Unless this is like the spider-man 3 of zelda games, where you have 2 villains working together. Which won't happen.

jokes aside I don't think the Bow will be in a chest for this game

I want classic Ganon. The original boar beast design. He would look awesome in this art style.

If some people's hypotheses are correct and this is a remake of zelda 1/2 or it's in the same timeline branch, ganondorf will have permanently become ganon (due to touching the triforce and having his desires come to fruition) so you'd have no choice but to fight pig/board ganon. Unless he somehow gained control over his human self again after being killed in Zelda 1. In zelda 2 you delayed his resurrection by getting the triforce of courage, but he can never be killed permanently.

feels like its been so long since i played a new proper zelda q.q
no triforce heroes doesn't count. that game was ok but such a mess. give me my zelda q.q

dude just no. The thing i love most about 3d zelda games are the rich meaty dungeons and getting lost trying to solve clever puzzles. I loved TP cause of how meaty the dungeons were, i disliked wind waker cause of how short and streamlined the dungeons were lol. Triforce heroes was fun for 5 minutes trying to get people to communicate without words, but the dungeons themselves? garbage if played alone. A link between worlds was also a good zelda game but again its dungeons were fun and clever but, too short.
