Yeah, I'm a little disappointed we're not seeing the NX version since that's what I'll be buying, but look at it this way: with the coming NX reveal it's like we're getting two E3s this year. And there'll probably be all new additional Zelda news/reveals to go along with the NX event.

I think it's still a good year to be a Nintendo fan (if not a customer at this point).

So....Where are the crate pics this year????? Any crappy-potato-picture of the Nintendo booth construction works or something??? I can´t believe that there are no images around GAF already!
Attendees/members of the press can pick up their badges beginning 1.00 PM PDT tomorrow Sunday, June 12. Could happen we start to get some photos then (or shortly after, since EA has its press conference at the same time).

Yeah, but I guess if the NX isn't ready to show then it's not ready lol.

They're going to reveal the NX this year and I'm like 100% sure they'll be showing off NX Zelda there considering it's going to be a huge launch title for them.
Both of which would happen before the Wii U version releases and cannibalizes itself.

Nintendo should release the Wii U version months before.

Then show the NX version and how much slicker it looks.

No one will be able to wait that long while everyone else is playing the game.

Business >:O

That's the best way to look at it. Just think we're getting two E3's this year. Man I really hope they do a Spaceworld event for the NX or atleast a few days for media to play the NX games! It's going to be great.

OK say Zelda U only has 4 usable items(not counting stuff like passive items such as the Mogma Mitts, Sailcloth or Golden Scale, or non combat usable stuff like camera, fishing rod or bug net), one of the 4 is automatically the Bow and Arrow already.

So what are the remaining 3 items that you would like to see in the game. Ideally looking for the most unique and multifaceted of items that can used in all aspects of the game and offer up the most varied experience that can be built upon and experimented with.

1. Hookshot/Claw Shots(Easy upgrade progression from one to two, plus distance, always great for combat like pulling armor off enemies, stunning them, as well as exploration and puzzle solving, like reaching levers or vertical platforming.)
2. Dominion Rod/Magic Rod(Could be used in really interesting ways when dealing with "Technological" enemies which Zelda U looks to have. Think using the rod to take control of a part of an enemy and ripping it off them. Plus lots of puzzle and exploration options. Upgrades well too if you can posses multiple things at once, like multiple lockon boomerang, or be like the Magic Rod and turn living enemies on fire, or even other stuff like Ice Rod, Sand Rod, etc.)
3. Ball and Chain( Much smaller though than TPs. Could be really interesting for attacking enemy groups, spinning it around in big sweeping arcs and shooting it out in a straight line. Also could be used for decent effect with exploration and puzzles. Could go in a variety of ways for meaningful upgrades.)

We know there are bomb arrows so that makes bombs somewhat redundant. And a Ball and Chain could be used in other scenarios as well if you don't want to use bomb arrows or have an explosion. Really in my opinion the series needs to limit the usable items we have while expanding their abilities. Zelda often has rather redundant items that could easily be turned into one.

Say left and right on the D-Pad changes items quickly. While up and down, which we've already seen looks like it changes ammo for the Bow and Arrow. Say for the Dominion Rod that changes it's effect too. So in one instance it's like the Dominion Rod, but hit up on the D-Pad and now it acts like the Fire Rod, hit down on the D-Pad and now it's like the Ice Rod. No need for pausing or entering a radial menu or anything to change your item, just seamless in game switching. This way too technically all of the items could be mapped to a button at the same time.

Sorry to put a downer on this thread, but I hope Nintendo dedicates or at least pays tribute at some point during the livestream to Christina Grimmie, a singer and former contestant on "The Voice" who was senselessly shot and killed yesterday. She was a diehard Zelda fan and I bet she was looking forward to watching this.

They don't even know the person, with that logic they should acknowledge Robin Williams.

It's a shame, but if Nintendo acknowledges every Zelda fan at death that downers will never end.

I'd say it's more like we're getting one E3 and one special Zelda event. E3 this year doesn't really qualify as a standard Nintendo E3, judging by what we know (I hope I'm wrong).

The last few months of this year are incredibly exciting as a Nintendo fan though. Hopefully it'll be worth the wait to see all of the NX stuff.

Regardless of what it is, it very likely has better guts than the Wii U.

As the wii version of TP clearly showed? And what about a Nintendo portable better than the wiiu?
It is nintendo we are talking about. If there is a clear message is that everything is possible and, hw wise, everything means...everything worst than our expectations

Maybe the reason they're secure in showing off the Wii U version is because the NX is actually a weaker platform and therefor it's version of Zelda would look worse?

Wii U version's DOA already dude. No stopping that. They just can't show the NX version's controls and interface without a proper console reveal.
Seems weird to then focus your entire show on this DOA release.

Oatmeal stop crying about NX Zelda.. its gonna be the same game with better visuals. All we excited for is seeing the damn game!
Never.

It'll always be worse than expectations, but we have had some 'leaks' say it's at least in line with XBONE.

Do we know this for sure? Doesn't the fact it might be using Tegra point to the idea that it may not be that powerful?
No. There's a zero percent chance it's less powerful than a Wii U.

Its the same game, just deal for now. Or keep crying 😢

I'll restate myself. They're showing off the game, but not trying to sell the Wii U with it anymore. The sole reason we'll be seeing the game in its Wii U form is because they haven't revealed the mechanics and interface of the NX as a platform, including buttons, second screen support, online capabilities, etc. Also, they made a dumb gambit back in 2014 by revealing it so early, so they're trying to ease the diehard Wii U buyers' collective pain.

For real? Persona 5 has been developed mainly for PS3, despite being released like 3 years after the PS4 came out?!

Were developers putting out slightly enhanced PS2 games back in 2009?
Persona 4 was released 2 years after the PS3 was out, and their entire PS2 line up was mostly built out of the scraps of an XBox exclusive game. Atlus are weird like that. And also, the Wii had "current gen" ports of CoD well until MW3 (they were fun as hell too).

I'm sitting next to Reggie. He's wearing a rad Zelda t-shirt. I hope he doesn't read gaf.

You... weren't kidding.

Could you please explain what puzzles were so ridiculous? Beat wind waker when I was 12 and have nothing but fond memories, not memories of crushingly difficult puzzles.
Pretty much all of them, but I remember hating the forest temple for having a spot needed to boomerang out of traditional camera view, hating the command statues because as far as I remember the game didn't remind you when the command was necessary and I took a several month long break and forgot the context of it, and the mirror dungeon thing (by that point my enthusiasm was cratered).

I DID love the Hyrule Temple dungeon, it's my favorite 3D Zelda dungeon. Also I LOOOOOOVED the Triforce Hunt. Gave me a second win to beat the game because it was freaking amazing. It actually encouraged me to explore the world (which I didn't before because the game didn't motivate me to do so) and go through micro dungeons to find small parts of a bigger whole which was GREAT

That's a pretty cool shirt, but I'd never be able to wear it. It would clash with ALL of my wardrobe. Not to mention my hair.

That shirt is super old. They were making that like a decade ago, for sure. I have one lying around somewhere that I wore in college.

Such a sad picture... missing People :(

Yuuuuuuuuuuuuuup :( This year's e3 is just not the same. Never will be again.

Reggie doesn't even look genuinely happy at all. That's a red flag aka a warning.

I mean, it's a candid photo stephen totilo took of him, it's not like a press release photo of him arriving at E3 or something. Hard to judge. Maybe he just had some bad del taco for lunch.

What is that hammer sprite? I'm pretty sure that's not a Zelda 1 item, right?

Zelda 2. I honestly don't even know if that shirt is official nintendo merch lol. I've had mine for so long I feel like it wouldn't be? But then I doubt reggie would be wearing it.
