In a video on his YouTube Channel, and thanks to the power of AI-subtitles and dubbing, extas1s has given us his biggest leak claim yet. According to him the Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X's release date and pricing are:

  • Xbox Ally & X pre-orders go live in August, with a release in October
  • Xbox Ally MSRP of $499/€599
  • Xbox Ally X MSRP of $799/€899

Ally is basically a Steam Deck, but 100$ more expensive. DoA

Disagree. It has a higher resolution, 120hz screen, twice the storage, should have better battery life, and better performance.

The Ally X is the really interesting one. Should be like 50% faster than the Steam Deck.

$799 for that class of hardware is pretty good. I'd be interested in buying one. Naturally I will immediately slap SteamOS or Bazzite on it.

Too expensive and too ugly for my tastes.

Also, play anywhere games that are streamed are awful. I invested way too much of my life on various cloud gaming technologies and at the end of the day, input lag is such a serious issue.

Not as expensive as I was thinking.
I thought it would be over $1000 for the more powerful one.
waiting for the YouTuber week long reviews.
Then the week long YouTuber is it worth it reviews.

if I can run and boot everything the same as PC, like specialK, install any software like plex and moonlight. I think it is still good enough. Or I can just get a Ally X I suppose if that has a price drop later.... swapping out fullsize nvme drive is a good feature to have.

Microsoft will need to add some sort of disc-to-digital system before I would consider one of these. I doubt my physical copies of my Xbox library will be playable in any way. Not even on the cloud.
However, that's a much better price for the Ally X than I was anticipating. Seems like a pretty good deal.

You want to talk about something that won't sell, this is it.

You think the official Nintendo one won't sell for 450 but, wait for it, the Xbox version will sell for a grand?

10k units lifetime max if they are lucky.

If true, those are lower prices than I expected for 2025 for a PC handheld. The Ally X will the most powerful PC handheld that exists once it launches, right?

I can see a $800 system being successful, but you ain't gonna be able to sell it on portability alone. It needs to be much stronger than what's available, and only then people will pay attention. Since it's a mobile device, forget that, so this is DOA.

Tariffs are pretty much over. I expected the prices to go back down. There was a lot of doom and gloom but I'm glad to see we all got out of it alright.

the fuck are you talking about? Global tariffs got pushed back until July 9th, at which time everything is fucked unless things change again before then.

Serious issue for you.

I'm a GFN subscribing and input lag is not noticeable.

That's basically a Switch 2.

They can't even sell their console at 250$, they're not gonna sell much of a weaker PC handheld.

This product is very niche. I don't see it having any success whatsoever.
